im sure i had something else to say ........... no cant remember :o
  • Well, i've been a very naughty girl. At work they provided lunch. I had a sandwich and a bit of a pork pie. AND a packet of crisps! Bad, bad bad, but it was free so I could not resist. Will be back to low carbing tomorrow. Tonight, having steak strips with salad. Drank about a litre of water today and had three cups of tea.

Hi folks, im still just about keeping up with you lot :D
No secret Alias, i'm counting cals which is why i dont post.

Am doing really well, gone into a smaller fitted uniform and getting a lot of compliments about hair, skin, deflated belly etc atm.

No heartburn, no leg cramps and im eating fat and sugar and bread and cereal and sometimes pastry as long as it's counted (obviously not just that, lots of healthy food too) :)

Workdays are easier as there is a routine to mealtimes and no picking between breaks.

I googled a fat loss calculator and it seems 1500 cals will get me right down to 10 and a half stone and i can maintain on that, although it will take about a year.. i'm happy with that :)

Interesting! I thought when I looked at mercy's pud recipe, that it was using oats, until I looked a second time! From the bad old days I've got a container of oats and another of homemade muesli, and I hate chucking good food away, I thought I could use a tablespoon or two hidden in things as I wouldn't touch cereals with a barge pole now.

However, I thought I'd look into oats/oat bran a bit more, and found that oats, uncooked, surprisingly, are classed as strongly inflammatory, 6g carbs per 10g - but 1g fibre, so 5g really - with masses of omega 6 compared to small amount of omega 3.

Cooking, - in water - changes everything, 1.2g carbs per 10g (.2g fibre per 10g included) and now hardly registering on the inflammatory scale. Omega 3 & 6 severely reduced. (Cooking with milk will obviously change the values.)

Whereas, oatbran raw has the same amount of carbs as the whole oat, again surprisingly, only .5g more fibre than the whole oat but the inflammation factor has gone right down to mildly inflammatory.

Now, oatbran cooked completely changes things. Taking out the fibre (which is now only .3g per 10g) the carb value is .8g per 10g, and, as with the whole oat, the inflammatory value now hardly registers. Both omega 3 & 6 again severely diminish with cooking.

Both the whole oat and the bran have really good amounts of vits and mins, but as a good source of fibre I think there are better things out there, as for the carb value when cooked oats aren't that bad. Perhaps a mixture of the 2 might make a good option for brekkie, if you were that way inclined?

    Hiya

Is that because the soluble fibre has solubilised? If it is then you would still be getting it in the food, surely? It won't have been drained away in a porridge situation. Not quite sure what you mean.

    Results for oatbran I use
    Ingredients
    Just pure Mornflake oatbran.
    Nutritional Information
    per 100g:
Energy 1455kJ/345kcal, Protein 14.8g, Carbohydrates 49.7g (of which sugars 2.1g), Fat 9.7g, (of which saturates 1.6g), Fibre 15.2g (of which soluble 8.4g)(of which insoluble 6.8g), Sodium 0.05g.

Please explain it to a lay person as the fibre start point for your study seems to be different too.

I do know that it seems to work well to prevent 'congestion' as Sheila was asking. :rotfl:

    Cheers

Maz my old friend, how's it hanging? :D

Sounds like you've hit on something that works well for you, I'm pleased. (But sad you're not here much :()

Fake tan? :rotfl: You got a hottie at work? ;):p:D

jetty x3....I can't go within 10 feet of a bag of crisps, I get drawn like a magnet and before I know it they're in my mouth. Then they shout for their pals and along comes a multi pack to join the party. :o:rotfl:

I had a weird day yesterday. I felt really weak and I had furniture to move so I had a cheese toasted sandwich with brown seeded bread. (I know, my bad).

As soon as I ate it, I felt tingling in my feet and lower legs and also in my hands. It passed but was very strange. I seem to have one thing after another right now, there's loads for the Doc to go on so I have no idea why he hasn't got a clue what's up with me. :rotfl:

I had a low carb dinner and the scales this morning have stayed the same so I got away with my 'interruption'. :)

Taking daughter out to buy shoes today so wish me luck. She's at 'that' age. ;) Off to have an omelette first though. :)

Lololol this typo did make me laugh - just what are you suggesting about poor jerry, alias?! :rotfl:

    Morning all :hello:

sister, I honestly couldn't taste the spinach in the smoothie. Shame about the 5:2 & the stomach upset :( Are you still going to give the 16:8 a try?? The more I read about it, the less inclined I am to try any fasting, I'm just getting more & more confused :o

jerry, good that you're planning on carrying on, it was only a small blip.

mazzers, lovely to see you here :j and huuuge congratulations on the weight loss - you sound like a different person :D Very happy for you!! :T

Mercy, stop blinding me with Science will ya!! :p Hope you're well & happy my lovely :)

alias, good luck with the shoe buying expedition  Rather you than me. Hope you manage to stay on track after the cheese toastie incident - not good for you to have those symptoms after eating it.

Well, I'm feeling like a small jetty :p after eating fish & chips last night (with my 'vegan' DD :rotfl:) washed down with a couple of glasses of 'peace-offering' Baileys. Felt mighty sick after that, I can tell you!! _pale_ Emotional eating & drinking a go-go, gotta stop that!! :(

Hope everyone has a good day today
