Jerry, jerry, jerry - good luck on Monday and glad that you are feeling slimmer. Do you qualify for jobseekers allowance while you are looking for employment? I also use small coins and find that shopkeepers are grateful for the change.

Keep a look out for magazines that are left around as they often have money off coupons.
If you have an Iceland near to you they have cheap eggs, cheap blocks of cheese, 4 pints milk for £1, 4 good quality toilet rolls £1 etc. They also do cheap frozen veg and they really will help to eek out a meal and we need them as well. Strangely enough I also find that M&S do some really good food reductions, depending on the store.

Mercy - I will keep everything crossed that you repel the biters. Thanks for your encouragement and I'm glad that your back is a bit better.

marbett - have a great holiday and I hope that the weather is sunny. I always roast a large chicken and gammon joint and take them with me when self catering. Instant food with salad or veg. I also bake a big fruit cake for the family to stop snacking.

sistercas - well done with the eating. I am trying to walk more and make it count. Helps having the puppy as she always wants to go out.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

jerryjerryjerry - rant away! I suspect most of us have been in your position at times, during the early nineties when interest rates were astronomical I was cashing cheques so that I could put the cash straight back in the bank a/c to keep it in the black - expensive, but not as expensive as the charges for going into the red. See if you can get friendly members of staff in the local supermarkets to tell you when in the day they start to mark down the whoopsied stuff, most have at least a vague timetable.

    sheila that's brilliant, well done

marrbett, have you tried asking the hotel if they will freeze ice-blocks you can use for a cool box for days out? That might give you a little more scope.

Weighed in today and I've lost another 1lb, also lost 1" off hips, 0.5 off waist and bust :)

JJJ - please take a look at the printable coupon thread and the Up your Income - make £10 per day thread. These two threads have really helped me without them I would not be able to make the grocery money last the week. It is only by using money off coupons I am able to get the things I need for the family. I save anywhere between £5-10 per week off my shopping bill.

    Hello lovely folk!

Had a nice meet with good friend today :j We talked loads and shopped, and although we spent a goodly time in the pub we only drank lime soda and coffee  Now THAT is a first :rotfl:

The shops were charity shops and £1 shops so not v much spent at all :) Best buy of the weekend - Bright red shorty double breasted trench coat for £3. :j Imagine my glee :rotfl:

Will be drawing up meal plan for next week so I can buy only what I need. Plan to shop once tomorrow and then leave all shops alone until next weekend. Should be interesting. It'll be like the Krypton Factor but with food :rotfl:

Best thing is, I will be able to do it as I am quite sober :D:eek::D

(I'll probably enjoy the challenge too - geekygirlyme)

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Hey Jerry, the self service tills let you put in as many little coins as you like. I've used this when I only have a bit of spare change to get essentials.

Also, my local asda has reduced items at early morn saturday ~ 8am and same around 2-3pm weekdays. I only buy meat on whoops if possible so that's how I know :) Try and find out your local stores times. Can be worth it esp LCing.

No need to be embarrassed not here or anywhere. Money is tight.

The only way is up indeed! :j:beer:

    Much love

    Hi M.

I didn't even think of the self service tills. that's what I will do next time! My local Asda does whooopsies about 7pm per evening, and that's when we tend to go. I also have a new tesco express opened up close to us which does it all about an hour before closing. So i'm definitely onto the cheap way of eating.

Infact, the only things we buy full price these days is Milk, Eggs, cheese. Infact, sometimes I get cheese at 30% off in Lidl. Lidl are doing gammon steaks at 84p for two (half price) this week-end! and i'm gutted we can't get any. However, there WILL be other times when they do the deal.

    Today:

3 Sausages and some fried onions for breakfast.
    a litre of water
some sneaky frozen cherries (given by my next door neighbour as she bought them by mistake)... Lovely, bit naughty though and not essentially low carb, but you have to have a treat.

Dinner: Moussaka. Going to give my potatoes to DH. I LOVE moussaka. Infact, i'd better start cooking it.

Thanks Sheila for fab suggestions. I will do some research and see if I have an Iceland close by. I know that there is one near OH's work.

I tried for Job seekers allowance in November last year but managed to get a 3 month booking as a secretary the next day after applying. As it happens - I wasn't eligable. Something to do with Husband working full time and my not having paid enough tax contributions through the year!

    I've worked since I was 18!. I'm now 43!

Durham! well done. Its posts like these which spur me on! I think i'd have given up Low carbing by now, if not for the losses incurred by others.

Even 1lb. is an achievment.. and proves it can be done.

Yes.. I often go to that thread and get money off coupons. Infact, we have a stock of persil and comfort which we got for silly money all in the garage. So that's something we don't have to buy for at least six months!

Ive been selling on ebay. Sold some light bulbs that we had in garage and our old Dyson that wasn't working. Dyson sold for 20 quid. Unbelievable. We were going to leave it out for scrap men!

Its thanks to the stuff i've sold this week and last, that I am able to pay electricity and council tax this month. Will have another good look at that thread to see if I can find other ways to make some money. Thank you for your support. x
  • Morning everyone :hello:

durham, well done on yet another lb off & more inch loss, you're on a roll!! :T

Jerry, that's great that you're feeling slimmer & more toned :j

Well done to everyone sticking to LC, doing push-ups & generally being angelic :A

I'm still being naughty :o but am at least planning to be good :D I've been considering the 5:2 intermittent fasting (has anyone seen the thread on here/watched the Horizon programme??) I know mazzers (where are you, missus?!) used to do IF occasionally. From reading the blurb, it does seem to suit the male of the species better than the female (to do with hormones, totm etc.) so am dithering on whether to give it a go?? I'd combine it with LC & exercise if I did decide to go ahead - just need to make the decision - watch this space!! ;)

If anyone is after something hot & spicy in their life (of the food variety) I can recommend Tesc0 Finest limited edition Hot & Fiery pork & habanero chilli sausages 5.1g carbs for 2. We had them bbqd the other night & they are so fiery they made my nose run!! :rotfl: Lovely though, just keep a hankie handy if you do try them!! :D

Btw, I've just ordered some skin so soft from an Avon rep as it's on offer £1.99 atm. You can get it for the same price off the website, but have to spend £20 to qualify for free delivery. I've still been getting occasional bites when I venture out into the garden, but nothing like the one I got on my shin the other week

Anyway, enough waffle!! Bye for now

    Hi all!

Well I successfully planned the weeks meals and am happily surprised that I now have enough stuff to make a visit to the shops unnecessary until Saturday :D

Eating from the freezer so once it's defrosted I'll be cooking! :D

Does anyone know if it is ok to make burger with egg n mince etc then freeze it?

Thinking i'll prepare my giant burger, then freeze till weds as I have more time to prepare food today.

We've got thunder forecast for later :j  :j Do hope it's scarily loud :rotfl:

The simplest way to IF is to skip breakfast and/or lunch and not snack after dinner - eat 1 or 2 meals/snacks between, for instance, 1 and 9pm. Doing this results in a 16-24 hour fast every day. I did it for years before the 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day' mantra got through my natural defences (I married a breakfast eater) and started me on my weight gain path. I've fallen back to it naturally since going back to low carb.
