Wow I'm so pleased I am subscribed to the Lose Weight 35 thread and I'm Slimmer of the Week :o So chuffed. Never taken part in any slimming programmes before so really pleased. However after my weigh in I went off the rails a bit and ate almost a full bag of pistachio's and I had more chocolate than I should have over the weekend so don't think I will have lost much, if any, this coming week.

    Hi all

Not been about as I've hurt my back and haven't been able to sit for long enough to go through posts. Haven't been totally on track food wise, just had to eat what I had in and was easy to make. Been to shop now so not too bad

A 2 hr trip to Docs and chemist yesterday would normally have only taken 1 hour, feel like a little old lady as it totally wiped me out :o

Just been out and it's still tough but I need to move some to keep me on mend. Hit asda as whoops was on and got a few bargains of the meat sort :D Can't carry much so may go again tomorrow.

Hope you are all well n happy, I'll read through later today hopefully.

    Hi

Mercy - what have you been getting up to ;). Seriously, I hope that you back gets better soon

    durham_mim - well done :T

murphydog - where are you moving to?

Jerry, jerry, jerry and sistercas - keep it up.

Well I have continued with the wall push ups and done lots of walking.
I had a pair of trousers that I bought in the sale a while ago and been unable to fasten but today I can (just). Weight has stayed the same but I must have lost inches.

Does anyone else have problems with being bitten? I seem to just move and something gets me and this didn't used to be so bad so wonder if it is something in the diet? I use Avon Skin so Soft but I see them coming and then they disappear and then I start scratching :(

Have a good day everyone :)

Inches really count though don't they Sheila. Hopefully they mean you're converting fat to muscle.

Dad arrived yesterday looking very 'baggy' :D He's gone down a size in both shirts and trousers so his clothes are all too big for him.

  • I get bitten very easily Sheila. So what I do is I smother myself with anti moscito stuff when on holiday, but here in the UK, I will just not go out in the evenings when there are flies about. Or if I do, I will wear full sleeves and full length leggings etc.. That Avon Skin so Soft is soooo lush. BUT, maybe that could be attracting the little blighters!

skin so soft is apparently what the SAS use to repel the biters so it'd surprise me. I've not been bitten much this year and when I have they've been far less aggravating, I was actually wondering last night whether it might be related to the low carb but it would seem not LOL

When I lived in Cyprus, skin so soft was the big thing out there for desisting mozzies, very popular, although didn't use it myself, my husband used to get nibbled to bits but I didn't. I seem to remember certain hormones being an attraction for them - can't remember which ones though!

Sheila, I'm very wary of tempting fate! Our new buyers buyer is having our buyers house surveyed today (if that makes sense!) and I've been instructed not to go ahead with ours until that comes back ok and his mortgage his all approved and signed. My husbands family all want links to see where we are going but I'm not even doing that yet! Just taking every day as it comes, there is still so much that can go wrong.

Re. inches v weight, in 8 week courses I do where exercise is incorporated with weight management, one lady only lost 3lb but lost 6.75 inches. She was slim, but had a 'spare tyre' around her waist and the combination of the right food and exercise burned fat, rather than her losing mass - as I've been on about. Her hip to weight ratio went from .92 to .8, which is so much more desirable from a health point of view. So, inches are good :T

Do we all know about the hip to weight measurement?

Another important, and useful, measurement, is the hip-to-waist ratio (WHR); calculated by measuring the waist circumference (located just above the upper hip bone) and dividing by the hip circumference at its widest part.

Studies show that 80 percent of women over the age of 18 have a WHR of at least 0.9. This is a 40 percent increase since 2002, and it's increasing.

A WHR of 0.7 for women and 0.9 for men have been shown to correlate strongly with general health and fertility. Women within the 0.7 range have optimal levels of estrogen and are less susceptible to major diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and ovarian cancers.

Men with WHRs around 0.9, similarly, have been shown to be more healthy and fertile with less prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
