sweet happy belated birthday and happy birthday to DD

trying to use stuff in the fridge and cupboards

B: 4 rashers of streaky bacon

L: 2 kallo rice crackers with butter and chicken tikka sandwich filling chunk of cheese

D: steak and veggies and fried onions raspberries out of the garden and cream
  • I had a job interview yesterday and put on a dress that made me look 5 months pregnant when I last wore it. Well! I actually looked slimmer in it! Even my husband commented and said that he thought I looked thinner. So that has really made me happy. I hear friday whether or not I got the job. I will still wait until wednesday to weight myself though. As I don't want to get back to the awful habit of wieghing myself every time I went to the bathroom... ie.. 10 times a day!!

    Ok.. today:

L: Cauliflour cheese left over from last night with coronation chicken I got from Tescos reduced to 20p!
That sounds awful but it was really tasty.

D: Cauliflour curry with yoghurt and cucumber. (we got two huge cauliflours for a pound at the greengrocers and need to use them up).

Snacks: 2 slices of ham. and a handful of raspberries.

3 cups of tea this morning and only one glass of water so far, but will be drinking water all evening. I hope everybody is having a good day.

A quick question for mercy or daska if you're reading - or anyone else who might be able to answer -

I made my first successful brew of GBP last week, and it's delicious. The thing is, can I re-use the grated ginger or do I have to put fresh in every time? My first attempt I used chopped ginger and tied it in a bit of sterilised cloth, but the flavour wasn't that strong. Next time I grated the ginger and sewed it into a little bag, but it's a bit fiddly. The flavour is perfect, but it's a pain to do. I've just started a fresh batch and dropped the ginger bag back in. Will it hurt my poor little GBP? :o

Sorry this is not really lc-ing

You won't get a lot of flavour if you re-use it. I've tried various ways, even just slicing it will work but I really don't recommend using the powdered stuff, it tasted ok but looked gross. While it's hard work to do I would say I get the best results from grating the ginger. I push the grated ginger through a strainer to extract the most juice, then stick the whole mess in with the sugar and add boiling water to dissolve the sugar and then strain it into the jar I brew the GBP in.

Don't forget to give it an eggshell every now and then. And it tastes great with vodka :D

Thank you sooo much :A I don't know why I didn't think of straining the ginger pulp - I do it with the lemon pulp :o That'll quicken things up tomorrow.
I've just tried my first voddie and ginger. Seriously good  Hic

  • Evening all. It was mid afternoon before I realised I hadn't weighed myself.. so I wont bother now and will wait till either tomorrow or next wed.

    Today:

    L: chicken and avacado salad
D: gammon and mushrooms in a cheesy sauce.
Snacks: A slice of corned beef and a lump of cheese.

Drinks: 3 cups of tea and 2 litres of ice cold water.

I have been for a long walk in the park with my dog. Also, I've done Amy Childs on Sky - get fit programme. Its about 30 mins long. Its free so very MSE. Feeling positive.
