Morning everyone, I must dash as today is busy, but just wanted to share a new mushroom dish:
Large field mushroom,
Caramelised onion,
Goats cheese.;
Simply fill the mushroom with onion and top with a slice of goats cheese. Cover and bake in the oven.
It was so scrummy, delicious!!!
Yesterday looked like:
B-Egg,tomato,haloumi
L-Salad, parma ham,coleslaw
D-1 Sausage, roasted butternut squash, peppers, cauliflower.Brocolli and the above mushroom.
No berries as was too full!!
Hope everyone has a great Thursday, the sun shines here!!!0 -
Have you considered moving to raw milk? It's more nutritionally dense (and full fat) than the nasty homogenised stuff with it's modified fats. Just a thought that this might help you transition to a higher fat content. Also, while I don't like or use it myself, what about whey protein powder? Having a shake made with that rather than oats/toast might bump up your protein a little and help you feel more sated?
J You won’t find me in Waitrose demanding £30 a kilo ham, lovingly cut from the flank of an organic Italian pig, named at birth in my honour, then using the leftover bone to knock sense into any mere mortal who eats oats for breakfast.
I’ll check out the links at the start of this thread and see if I can get myself a plan I can stick too. Will try the bassa fish mentioned from Aldi, I love Aldi!
Thanks for the protein tip, I DO have some whey which I bought with the psyillium husks.0 -
You won't find me doing that either - I don't eat pig products LOL. I'm also not saying that oats for breakfast is 'bad'. But from personal experience I have always got hungrier sooner if I have porridge/bread etc at breakfast so, for me, starting the day with fewer carbs helps prevent bingeing later on.
Having been brought up vegetarian breakfast was always porridge/ toast and I'd be hungry before I got to school so ended up with a huge chocolate habit trying to fill that hole. School was veggie as well so more bread and fruit for lunch and then more lentils/ rice in the evening followed by a sweet - it's really not hard to work out why my eating habits got so carp.
Link to where to find raw milk for anyone who's interested

Anything with a sauce I generally don't trust, so i'll have a sikh kebab with salad or grilled butterfly king prawns for starter and then for main I'll have 'dry' chicken Tikka or marinated lamb kebabs with more salad, even if the place doesn't have them on the menu, they'll generally serve them for you..... and if I'm good and dodge the samosas etc, I can usually squeeze in a few vodka and slimline tonics so I don't feel too deprived!
Thanks Cherrypies, wish I'd have seen your suggestions before I went LOL!
The food was gorgeous and I was kinda good
Starter: Fish Pakora & salad (OK they're in batter but wasn't much on the starter menu that wasn't!)
Main: Prawn Dopiaza with Gobi Channa (curried cauli & chickpeas) as a side dish instead of rice/naan. yum yum!
When I ordered the restaurant owner asked if I wanted rice etc & when I said no he asked if I was 'no-carbing'. Now I know some of are strict on here but 'no-carbing' is taking it too far :rotfl:
Apparently he's had more & more people asking for weird combos from the menu because they've cut down on carbs and they now do a spicy chicken sizzler dish with salad they call Atkins chickenOur numbers are growing!

Came back from my walk a bit hot, sweaty & in need of a shower
I am soooo unfit these days
I'm going to try & get out every day from now on, even if it's just a brisk walk around the block.
Glad you decided to join us, Audrey. I would say we're a mix of all sorts here, some more angelic than others!! We all have our ups & downs, falling off the wagon etc., I've been here on & off quite a few times over the years, but always come back for the support & feeling of cameraderiePs. I love Aldi too & have bought some of their frozen smoked haddock fillets to try one night - stinky house alert!! :rotfl:
There's some really nice recipes being posted lately :T I've got everything in ready to make cherry's cream of cauliflower soup, probably do that at the weekend  Btw, Aldi has cauliflowers on special for 99p atm - bit titchy though.
Mercy, I did a forum search for onion powder (trying to get it for a recipe) & you popped up in the results as having some in your store cupboard - can I ask where you got it from, please?? I can't find the stuff anywhere!! TIA0 -
Well I think I've found a picnic solution that suits me. For the school picnic today I mushed up stilton and philly into a pate type consistancy, put it in the corner of a sandwich bag and chilled it. When it was time to leave I snipped off the corner so I could use it as a piping bag and popped it in a bag with some celery sticks. When it was time to eat I piped the celery full of 'spread' and hey presto, crunchy, creamy, not messy and delish - if you like that kind of thingEat food. Not too much. I made the TIU protein pancake this morning. I used a low carb dairy-free protein powder (think it was pea) but I think the serving size of this must be more than what they wrote the recipe with as it wasn't a batter consistency even after adding an extra TB of almond milk. Think I'll cut that back next time. But otherwise, it was pretty good!
Tempted to get a waffle maker to make batches of waffles using the same batter and freeze them. I think it could be a good way to satisfy that (rare for me) toast craving.0 -
Daska, that's SUCH a great idea with the stilton and philly in a bag! I'm going to try that! if I ever manage to get a job.. then I can take it to work.
Sweetserendipty, I have some onion granules.. is that the same thing? If so, they are Asda own brand. They come in a Black and green jar. It says 100% dried onions on the back. Unfortunately, there is no carb count on the jar. I don't remember how much we paid. My husband uses them for when he makes Pizza. ( I so hope he doesn't make pizza any time soon as that would be HARD).
I have had a lovely lunch today. (got the indian food bug). I bashed the hell out of a breast of chicken with a wooden mallet type thing. Then I heated olive oil in a frying pan. After that, I sprinkled a teaspoon of Tika Masalla Powder into the oil and mixed that around for 2 seconds, then added my now nicely slim chicken.
I turned it over a few times and when it was nicely browning on both sides, it only took about 7 or 8 minutes, I squirted a quarter of a lime over it and ate it with yoghurt mixed with grated cucumber and minute amount of mint sauce.
It took me longer to clean the mallet than scoffing the chicken. I mistakenly used the knobbly side and the chicken went through the bag and got stuck into the mallet.
After that, I went for a walk to the park with my lovely dog. We then went to the shop for some more yoghurt and chillies and then I hoovered the whole house and cooked a couliflour curry for tonight. I was going to add chick peas as that sounded great above (avstar) but I can't afford the carbs while I'm trying to lose some weight..
I love this thread as it gives so many good ideas and suggestions. Left to my own devices i'd end up eating the same thing every day.0 -
