cherrypies - do you generally get good weather or bad? Have a safe journey
It's not bad really, we're about 50 miles from Ireland, Scotland and the Lake District and we get similar weather to those places. We can get a battering in the winter as the Island is only small (30 miles by 13 miles) the costal air gets a bit 'bracing' lol, but it's not horrendous. My Mum and Dad live near Liverpool and we often seem to have better weather than they do.
The weather is 'fast' too, which took a bit of getting used to, sometimes it can be hot, sunny, foggy, raining, windy and then hot again, all in the same day!0 -
You did misunderstand, if I hadn't posted a link directly to the discussion then it would be fair to criticise but as it is I took the time to search for it and provide a direct link, one click and you would have been there but instead you take the time and energy to post telling me how unhelpful I've been? :wall:Eat food. Went to my fave shop Lidl. Bought a lime, strawberries, double cream, butter, lemons, an avacado, olives, ham, chicken breasts at 30 % off, cheese and celery. With this diet, I feel I have to keep on top of things that I need that are low carb, otherwise, it is easy to find yourself eating the wrong things.
Didn't feel hungry enough tonight to cook. So ended up slicing an avacado in half and eating it with a spoon. Also had two olives. So food for today:
Sausage, tomato and mushroom with herbs cooked in a bit of butter..
Avacado whole.
Olives x 2
black decaf coffee x 1, Coffee decaf with cream x 1.
2 glasses of water out of the tap. Tasted awful!0 -

Daska yes you do sound abrupt.. I was only asking a question. I didn't want to trawl through 629 pages thank you, not just for 1 simple question. that is what a forum is all about. To all the people that answered me thankyou...
Calm down.. she said she didn't mean to sound abrupt.
Sometimes the same questions are asked over and over and it's quite easy to do some research oneself.
I mean.. where do i buy flax.. what is ketostix.. can i have pate.. do some googling, buy a book if you are genuinely interested.0 -
Morning everyone :hello:
Well, week one over & I've lost 6lbs :j Pleased with that.
sistercas, pate sounds lovely, can I ask where you got it from, please??
Jerry, no gammon in your Lidl haul??
B - 3 egg/bacon/mushroom/cottage cheese/red onion/cheese quiche (currently in the oven - will have half)
L - 2 buttered GG crispbreads with topping, chopped vine tomatoes
D - chicken (again), cauli, broc, cabbage, mushroom sauce
Might try the avocado today, I think it's ready. Will also have strawbs & double cream mid-afternoon & some almonds tonight.
I'm going to get out for a walk today after reading on the BBC News yesterday that inactivity is deadlier than smokingI used to walk a lot but very rarely get out these days so that's gonna change!!
Happy LC days :wave:0 -
Ha Ha. No gammon for me this week. Its a chicken week I should imagine. I think i'm one of those people that discover I love something and its all I want and I overdo it till i'm sick, then on to the next thing.
Anyway, i'm not going to post what i am going to eat, as I end up changing it. Will post tonight. But chicken is on the cards.
Serendipidy, I will also go for a walk today. I have a very small dog which is always a good excuse for a walk. She doesn't need the exercise, but I certainly do.
GREAT news on losing 6 lbs ! Way to go!0 -
Sheila you've still lost nearly 1.5 lb a week overall! And numerous studies have proven that the more overweight you are and the closer your goal weight the slower the loss - so it is a long haul now to the end but look at what you've achieved! That Zoe Harcombe link about cholesterol made very interesting reading, I've seen everything she said mentioned in other places but she pulled it together very nicely. I'm had a bit of success bouncing my carbs around, some days virtually carb free, some with very small helpings of rice, and some days when I don't really feel like eating I might just have a hard boiled egg and a stick of celery with coffee and cream in the evening, but it's slowed right down for me as well. But I'm hoping for bang on 14st when I weigh myself tomorrow morning - totm and wine/beer/pizza (can't eat in pizza express and not have a lovely pizza!) took me from 14st 1lb up to 14st 7lb last week
Thought I'd share another recipe. This is known in our family as nam pla, simply because mum had never used fish sauce before so thought that was what the dish was called LOL. This is a brilliant store cupboard recipe, you can literally do it all out of tins/bottles and it works well with veg or meat (or both). It's very much a 'by eye' again but the basic quantities are as follows. (I often cook this when there's too much month at the end of my money.)
coconut oil for frying
1 large onion (or half a tin of eazy onions)
1 tin tomatos
1 tin coconut milk
meat of choice - works well with chicken and white fish, the frozen square blocks are really practical
veg of choice - I have been known to throw in a bag of frozen mixed veg or assorted tins but sliced up pak choi added in the last couple of minutes gives a good crunch.
Ground:
cumin
ginger
coriander
chilli
Fresh (or dried):
basil
coriander
tbsp or two of nam pla (fish sauce)
Fry onions/meat (not fish), add tomatoes, coconut, veg, dry spices/herbs and nam pla and cook until meat is tender - or cook the veg separately and throw it in later, really depends on what combination of ingredients you're using. If using fish cook the sauce for 15 minutes then add the fish and cook until the fish is ready - a few minutes for fresh, longer for frozen. Throw in fresh herbs (if using) and serve.
Personally I tend to leave out the cumin and go easy on the chilli because DS2 won't eat anything with cumin in and you can always add more heat. I think it would probably work with worcestershire sauce, which is basically a fish sauce, if you're short on nam pla and spices.
It's not carb free but it is relatively low at about 45g for 4 servings (rough count of 10g each for tomatoes and coconut plus 20g for the onions) plus whatever's in the veg you add.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

:-) Thanks for the invite - not sure I am a suitable candidate but something needs to change in my eating habits.
I have lost a couple of stones in the past 3 years but have a significant problem with binge eating, specifically carbs. I am outwardly fit and active with no health problems, but twice a week “eat” my feelings instead of dealing with them, or have a huge stuffing session with carbs having eaten too few calories the previous 2 days.
I use myfitnesspal to track food intake. My goals are set at 20% of calories from carbs, but currently my actual diet is 40% carbs. I eat piles of low carb veg, very little fruit and on a good day the carbs come from 50g oats for breakfast, 50g dry weight lentils for lunch or 2 slices of wholegrain bread or 50g wholeweheat pasta. The rest of the carbs come from low fat dairy. On a bad day it is filthy junk food ie biscuits/chocolate. L
I know part of the problem is eating too little fat, which I am working on by moving to full fat dairy and more eggs and cheese. I’ve been veggie bordering on vegan for years, simply due to not liking the taste of meat but think the time has come to rethink this and add fish to my diet.
I posted on weightloss threads on here before and got great support, but I get so embarrassed when I fail that I fade from view – can you accept a humble new disciple and teach me a new way of eating?0 -
Welcome Audrey. TBH, with the exception of our erstwhile Saint Edwardia we all fail from time to time, it's just that some of us fail more frequently than others
Personally, over this last week I've had pizza and 3 bottles of red wine so I'm really not allowed to criticise when people can't keep going day in day out. I'm lucky I weigh the same as I did 2 weeks ago
Have you considered moving to raw milk? It's more nutritionally dense (and full fat) than the nasty homogenised stuff with it's modified fats. Just a thought that this might help you transition to a higher fat content. Also, while I don't like or use it myself, what about whey protein powder? Having a shake made with that rather than oats/toast might bump up your protein a little and help you feel more sated?Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
