Thanks Sheila. I can easily cut out the Coke zero.. but I do like a hot drink or three in the morning, so I would find the decaff hard to stop. I will try to stick to the one cup each day and see if that makes a difference.0

Approved foods have golden linseed for 99p per 500g, expires November 2012, so a good long date.

I'm not actually losing much weight at the moment, but I do feel healthier, more active, sleep better and skin seems to have improved.
This morning I had 2 rashers of grilled bacon and grilled tomato. We do like our brewed coffee, but we don't drink such a lot, only at breakfast. Time was, I'd have religiously cut off every scrap of fat from the bacon - now, I like it nice and crispy and brown!
Just got back from aqua-aerobics, I try to go 3 x week. We did quite a bit in the garden yesterday and will be going out there again as long as it stays dry.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.

Thank you cherrypies, linseed and asparagus ordered
Must have gone on recently as I only just unpacked a box from them yesterday and didn't spot it on the website when I placed the order!
Sheila, that sounds like a good result given how worried you've been about it. A couple of things to remember - a lot of fats that people regard as 'bad' because they concentrate on the saturated aspect of them are also high in mono-unsaturated fats e.g. lard. And the fat that you're losing has to go somewhere on the way out of the body so if you're still losing then the higher results might be because of this.
Also, I was reading somewhere recently - sorry, forgot to save the location - that actually weight loss is not so much recommended at 2lb a week but appears to be limited by the body to 2lb/week (or even less if you're not so overweight) - so if you track back what you've lost over how long (and make allowance for being naughty) that can help to explain longish stalls. I've been looking at my records and I've lost 46lb altogether since last october but as I wasn't aiming to lose weight (or for that matter making any effort other than not buying crisps in bulk LOL) I'm going to ignore the first 11 and only look at the 35lb I've lost in the 23 weeks since I went properly low carb in early feb. I've spent at least 5 of those weeks with family visiting/ other events that have made it nigh on impossible to eat 'properly' or with a view to weightloss. So 23 -5 makes that 35lb in 18 weeks - near enough spot on. Just wondering if that will help some of us reconcile the non-moving scales and plot where we might expect to be a bit more realisticallyEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

I usually have about 3 strong decaff black coffees a day. If you fancy trying something else though, hot water with a squeeze of lemon or a lemon slice in is good, especially first thing on a morning.0 -

scotty asked this on page 578 - sorry if that sounds abrupt, it isn't meant to be, but there are suggestions spread over a lot of posts for what's available from different stores so it's probably easier for you to go back and read through than for me to link to each post individually.Eat food. Mostly, just eat any old sausage! Had no idea they were carbs... so thank you for that. Will have to check the packets. The American Hot dogs I get from Lidl are very low carb, so I think I will stick to those.. as they taste lovely. Better than the usual sausages from Asda that I get.0 -

Ok.. Thank you. So, is it better to drink black decaff than decaff with double cream on a low carb diet? Because i've been drinking decaff with double cream as I thought that was ok?0 -
Hi
I buy Black Farmer sausages, gluten free
http://www.theblackfarmer.com/shop
They are £3 for 10 in Co-op at the moment.
Jerry, jerry, jerry - coffee with cream should be fine but all things in moderation, at least that is what I have found.
daska - thanks. Working it out I started June last year 19 stone, September 16 stone, Christmas 14 st 11lb, March 14 stone 2lb, May 13 stone 11lb, now 13 stone 6lb. That means that in 7 months I have only lost 19lb. Cheated about 6 days in total in that time other than the week's holiday where I had an ice cream each day and put on 2lb. That then spurred further weight loss for next 3 weeks but I have now stalled again for 2 weeks. When I cheat it isn't usually major , one piece of cake one time, worst was 150 carbs one day. It really isn't worth it as I feel rough and get stomach gripes if I go off it.
If I wanted to get to my ideal weight then I would need to lose another 2 1/2 to 3 stone but will settle at 12 stone, my GP'S recommendation. I thought about trying Dukan but I really can't have days without veg, as I have never been able to do that as I feel grotty.
Enough about me, how is everyone else doing today?
breakfast - small piece frittata with veg and cheese inside
mid morning - a few nuts, 1 oz chocolate, 70%, decaff coffee
Lunch - half avocado, yogurt with flax / seeds
snack - 1 oz cheese, cucumber
dinner -
snack - almond pancake with 45g raspberries, 1 tbsp cream
bedtime - lactofree milk cocoa0
