I didn't drink it all on my own! It was between 5pm and 2am and DS2's dad and a friend helped - but even so I had way more than I am used to, given that I seldom drink and usually limit myself to couple when I do.
Was a very jolly eveningbut it did bust my target for the day

Hi there - I use the IPD cookbook, it's good some good recipes in there. Also, the woman who developed a lot of the recipes (Bee) has her own low carb cookbook out too - there's a link to it somewhere on the https://www.pig2twig.co.uk forums.0 -

No problem, go as soon as you can though, the store I was in today looked as if it had been looted! People were buying baskets and baskets full of bargains.0 -
Morning all
Thank you for your concern
To be honest I was busy yesterday and I am trying to come to terms with my GP visit. My cholesterol is down a bit but is still 6.7 , LDL 4. Thyroid function test levels too high but Free T4 normal, so struggling but managing to cope.
The problem is that
a) Before I started low carb my cholesterol was 4.6, then 7.4 and now 6.7. LDL was low, then 4.4, now 4, both too high. On top of that I have been cutting fat somewhat since last result though still having around 90-100g a day, 30 - 40g saturated.
My GP is very sensible and knows how much it has meant for me to lose weight as I had been trying for 30+ years. However she says that she read an article in this week's medical journal stating that long term low carb diets have been shown to affect circulation and related issues.
The bottom line is that she has told me that she will give me another 6 months, retest and then she wants me to up my carb levels as I may be trading weight loss for other health problems.
To be fair I said that I had intended to up the carb level once I lost more weight, if I can as I have stalled again, but it really is becoming difficult. Too much protein, especially red meat, stresses the kidneys. I have around 90g protein, mostly from fish, chicken, nuts and veg so that is ok. Too much fat seems to have raised my lipid profile but I can't cut down fat too much or I will have to increase carbs to compensate. A bit of a dilemma as I am trying to accommodate everything and it is an undeniable fact that my lipid profile is way too high and was fine before. Boring but there you are.
On a lighter note, I have already got the cookbook for Nerys and India's diet and it makes good reading. I have also ordered their own diet book to read for inspiration.
Another day with light rain but, positively, it looks a lot better next week and that is good for the school holidays
I hope that those who have been poorly are feeling better.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Just dashing off to work, but (((((hugs))))) Sheila. I read a bit about the long term effects of a low carb diet, especially on women, but there's quite a bit of disagreement about it IIRC. 6 months might make a huge difference anyway. :A
Good luck0 -
Sheila your doctor sounds like a rational and sensible person! Can you try and increase vegetable fats (rapeseed, olive, coconut oils) and decrease animal ones? Would it help?
Hope you find the right solution for yourself, good luck!
Yesterday was a good day for me, the only carb food I had was a bit of dal lentils, which I feel ok with, the rest was fish, vegetables and a bit if homemade paneer cheese.
Hoping to keep up the good work today, am already feeling less bloated after 24 hours since eating the cake. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
