you guys really make me laugh!
I had a massive carb craving last night. I would have succombed but fortunatley I have decarbed the house (well, OH has eaten all the stuff i like) and I'm far too lazy to go to the shop to get anything. Result! Ended up gorging on strawberries. Mmm.
Feeling slimmer and had a couple of compliments but still a long way to go. Still, trying to see it as a life change rather than a diet. Strangely I have gone off chocolate since cutting it out (except the occasional +70% stuff) but the lure of the chippy is still strong."I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." Annika Dahlqvist is one of the experts being consulted in this newspaper diet challenge Lose 8 kilograms by midsummer
So could Annika & Maria reach their dream weight by the new fat diet? We'll see?
Eat cheese, cream and bacon - and be 8 kilograms lighter by midsummer.
In addition: you can have healthier hearts into the bargain.
- Saturated fat is good for the body, says Professor Fredrik Nyström.
Fat makes you slim.
Now do the scientists agree.
A few studies point to and agree that LCHF-diet (low CARB, high fat), is more effective than other methods.
That leaves the question: are you healthy too?
"Yes", says fat doctor, Annika Dahlqvist.
"No, not in the long term," says Professor Stephan Rössner dietician.
Fredrik Nyström, Expert diet researcher from University Hospital in Linköping, who is now contributing to Dr Dahl Qvist's blog page.
"- Saturated fat is good, including it's important hormonal effects."
Can it improve blood values?
Fredrik Nyström himself has made several research experiments in the subject. He also refers to two studies, an Israeli and an American, which show that fat rich diets can actually improve blood values.
-" I have been looking for data in support of that fat is dangerous, and I have not actually found any" he says.
Lose 1-2 kg a week
The rules for LCHF are super simple:
You exclude a large virtually all carbohydrates and eat instead plenty of saturated fats and protein.
Brie, chocolate, cheesecake, bacon, cream, red meat and coconut fat - all that is greasy and carbohydrate-saving is allowed, as long as it is not margarine or trans fats.
You eat freely and need not worry about portion sizes or quantities.
- "Eat until you feel satisfied, preferably before you get weighed,"says Annika Dahlqvist.
If you follow the diet consistently, you can lose between one to two kilograms a week.
- "But the most important thing is health benefit.
The first thing that happens is that your stomach calms itself, but also blood fats are better.
I have had patients with repeated heart attacks, who have become healthy when they changed their diet" she says.

how is everyone this monday evening? anyone else have a rough day at work too?
but i managed to stay lcand preparing dinner in a sec. I just need one good week behind me. I weighed myself this morning and felt so sick to my stomach that i let it get this far but then i still wanted to reach for something carby to make me happier (which i know it wont)
anyway, how often do you guys weigh yourselves? i not gonna be doing any exercise this week, just want to get the diet right before i add new things like working out0 -
Hi focus, I was weighing every day but it fluctuated so much i now weigh maybe once or twice a week.
I am not eating enough tho, i was peckish going to bed last night but couldnt be bothered to make anything, i always find that if i go to bed hungry, i cant eat in the morning so i had no brekkie, but did force a lc shake down me.
Went for lunch at 12.30 and had a coffee cos there was nothing lc available and didnt end up eating until 3pm when i got in, was really hungry then and had cheese and chicken wings and some strawbs and cream.
Forgot to say that my weight is up and down until my period, and then i get a proper result. So far there is a downward trendbut have only lost 11lbs in 9 weeks, i have had quite a few lapses tho, but am happy with the loss so far as i have lost a lot of inches and nearly two dress sizes on my top half and one size on bottom half.
