Thanks Sweetserendipity I looked at the ingredients and unfortunately they contain wheat/gluten so no good to me. Think I will have a go at the flax bread this weekend. I tried the rosemary & onion crackers but wasn't very impressed. It seemed a lot of work for just a few crackers. Need to find something a bit less fiddly to make.Weight loss 0/2st

Today is going great again. Have done another 5 miles (20 mins) on bike.
Its true, exercise makes you hungry, so i've had breakfast which I normally don't do. So today will go like this.
B: 2 boiled eggs with a small squeeze of salad cream.
L: Gammon steak with mustard cream sauce and mushroomsCheeseburgers x 2 (without fries and burger bun) But will all other trimmings, ie, red onion, gherkin, cheese slices and mayo.

Well done Jerry, jerry, jerry, 5 miles is great, but suggest that you stick to mayo as salad cream has sugar in it and therefore is higher carb
durham - mim have you tried the almond pancakes? Which bread recipe are you using as I am looking for one that is gluten / wheat / yeast free?0 -

I've had the pancakes for breakfast and they're yummy. The bread recipe I found on Mercy's list on the first page. It sounds easy as its made in the microwave.

Lots of pain at the moment, hence not posting much, but I am keeping up. Well done to the losers and the stayers.
At 5'11" I only ever got to a snug 12 on my bottom half, even when I was 8 1/2 stone and my belly was concave. Unfortunately we're not infinitely shrinkable or I'd find it much easier to buy dresses, as it is my boobs disappear but my hips stay put.
Hope you're feeling better after your fall Sheila.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Hi socknitter - for your height the correct weight is around 14 stone to give a BMI of 25. Size wise I think that you would look too thin under a size 12 - 14 but others may disagree. I have around 1 oz nuts and 1 oz seeds a day but mix them up.
Caterina - just start again, we all have blips sometimes. Good luck.
mazzers - well done on losing a stone :T. Sometimes I think that we all need a change to kickstart our metabolism and it has worked for you. You have a pm.
Mercy - it is Friday so how have you done. By the way Dukan is a high protein, low carb diet

Sheila, sorry, didn't mean to make your day any worse.
Last nights program was really about how the big food companies have got us under the cosh and how they set out to bamboozle the public with so-called healthy/healthier products. They know that if the government regulates what goes in our food it will cost jobs, profits will drop, shareholders not happy - and that would be the biggest crime of all, it seems - they know that's never going to happen, so they are just left to get on with marketing foods as healthy when they are clearly not. It's not illegal to do so.
A guy was on that was involved with the introduction of the 'traffic light' food labelling scheme (red, high in fat, salt etc, amber, medium, etc) to get a more easily understood system going. Unfortunately it was deemed too good! Only Sainsbury and Morrisons (I think) took it on, Tesco and Asda refused, as they knew for sure it would effect sales (stores who have used it have adapted their products). When it was rolled out across the EU, over 1 billion euros - yes BILLION - was spent lobbying MEPs not to accept it because of possible job losses in their communities.
What was really interesting was that JP Morgan sent out a business report to the top 20 food companies saying that the opportunity for mass litigation against their products was getting far more realistic and they had better guard against it. Companies mentioned were Coke/Pepsi/Cadburys/Hersheys and the like. Anything commercial and they listen, anything government led is ignored. Like the government minister said, people have a choice what they eat, we can't legislate against that......
Like I said. DISGUSTING.0 -
Meant to say......
Unfortunately what they did dwell on was calories, not type of food. An instance was given of a Subway roll and a Mc D burger. Because Subway is marketed as 'fresh' ingredients, it is deemed healthier, but in fact it has twice as many calories as the burger. And because people think they have eaten less calories they have a more fattening drink or a dessert as well.
What wasn't said was that the majority of the calories would have could from carbs with the Subway roll, as the vast majority was bread and twice the size of the burger. But I s'pose that would have complicated matters!0 -
it was a very intereresting show but nothing new has really came out of it ( for me anyway) i think though it brings it home to alot of people that dont fully understand the politics and business behind the food industry
i am enjoying the series though and it's good to refresh yourself with the underhand ways the companies are doing things0
