Hi Sock knitter I usually make a porridge out of ground flax seeds (I grind my own in the blender as they are cheaper that way) with soya protein and cinnamon for breakfast but sometimes I make a granola from partly ground nuts, seeds and creamed coconut. This is lovely with yogurt. Very occasionally I have a milkshake of some sort usually with silken tofu or protein powder in it (very quick and easy).

In case anyone is interested, Holland and barrett are doing the Buy one get one half price promotion at the moment, if you want to stock up on ground flax seeds. They also sell one variety that has ground brazil nuts and other goodies in it and which is still quite low in carb.

According the plan I follow (Idiot Proof Diet) flax seeds are only ok for phase 2, just so to clarify.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Cheesy carrots

Not sure if you have any onion but would only cost 20p to buy one

Sorry but I love making something good out of leftovers. Sure you have plenty of ideas of your own.
    Thanks Sheila for your concern.
I've lost the cheddar. I must have used it in my cauli soup!! I will walk to farmshop for onions, actually have £3.15 woo woo! It's a four mile walk, let's hope it doesn't rain halfway there.
Have discovered I have lentils in cupboard too, so all in all, I've plenty to eat. Maybe not ideal but it's only for 5 days of my life.

My dog's gone high carb. :D He's never had food containing wheat, let alone as the main ingredient. I can hardly see a wild dog eating the crop in a wheat field but it's only for this week and was very cheap, he'll survive and he liked it.

Well done Confused & Mabbett, whatever version you're following it's working for you!

Tried almond milk this morning as its much lower in carbs that normal milk. Thought I'd hate it becuase I think Soya milk is minging. But the almond milk was really nice, so I'll be having that from now on (sorry with the dreaded 'clean eating oat muesli' *not low carb disclaimer*).

    Mercy I love the Oat-gate term :D

Watched the cookery item on Lorraine this morning while eating my brekkie, the chef made coleslaw with chinese cabbage and mooli, so I watched avidly until he added 150g sugar ........cue my exit and went to work.

Reading back through the posts I can't see anyone who eats more than 3 meals a day. When I lost my first stone I was eating every 4 hours to stoke the metabolism fire. Don't any of you do that

No, during the week I have a snack when I get in from work and a main meal an hour or so later. At weekends I have breakfast and an evening meal.

Mrs G used to eat about 6 times a day but has now switched to 3. She lost less weight when she was eating 6 times a day. Coincidence maybe?

We fed our dogs on a wholly vegetarian diet. Pedigree Dalmations, lived until they were 18, so it couldn't have done them much harm. :)

I just eat when I'm hungry - usually early afternoon and then have an evening meal later. I don't really have an appetite any more so there seems little point of eating for the sake of it.
I'm eating "clean" too, nothing with any additives, no high carb veg, just berries, veg, meat, poultry and some dairy.
The last time I did low carb I was very sucessful and reached my goal (several years ago) but I made the mistake (in my opinion) of doing the low carb substitute route - buying lc bread, cakes, pasta etc and I think it was a big reason for my subsequent weight gain again, as I was still eating additives and sweet stuff and hadn't retrained my mind.
    I've now lost 23lbs in 2 months without exercising (I am lazy :) )

I think you may have tried fresh soya milk from the chilled milk section avstar, that is definitely minging. Unsweetend long life soya, 79pence in waitrose tastes like milk, visitors confirm, but doesn't have that cowy taste of milk.

That's a good age for a Dalmation. Why were they veggies when you eat meat?
