Padstow - sorry to give links using high carb items. I should have checked but just googled as I was concerned about your lack of food.

From what Edwardia has said in a private message I think that she will move elsewhere, which is a pity as she is a great encourager and gives useful information that I appreciate. :(

I hope that everyone has a great day. :hello:

It would indeed be a shame if Edwardia moved, as you say she has great knowledge and is a fine example of low carbing. I hope she reconsiders as she would be sorely missed. So please stay Edwardia.

I had explained that I was broke, so was finding the regimen expensive and I really couldn't see the harm of a slice of wholemeal to start the day. Also not eating eggs limits what I can eat for breakfast.
When you have a healthy income, it's difficult to believe that someone else has literally none left. I also appreciate that once carbs start entering the thread, it could quickly change the theme of it.
Still I have a tin of salmon, 4 rubbish non organic carrots, a white cabbage, red pepper, big bag of frozen spinach. 3 packs of cheap mozzarella balls, 2 pots of cress and 3 tomatoes. The only non LC's I have is a tin of kidney beans and I am soaking some chick peas to make hummus. So I won't starve before pension on Monday. Oh and those wretched kipper fillets are still in the fridge.:(

It's that June is car expense month, tax, insurance, and the new style MOT was a shock. It got through, but listed a load of things it might/will need in the future, all £1,400 of them. How can so much go wrong in 7000 miles since the last MOT? Listing them makes it difficult to sell as well. Great for the buyer of course.

The irony is, that now all is done on the car for now, there is nothing for fuel so it's confined to garage until Monday.:rotfl:
I'll have plenty of time to read the thread, and hope to see Edwardia posting.

    Happy Low carbing everyone.

    Good morning low carbers!

This morning I weighed myself and had a shock, gone over 80 Kg again, 80.3 to be precise. Too much wine over the last few weeks and too many forages into carbs, so I am putting myself back on a phase 1.

This for me means eggs for breakfast, cheese salads for lunch and fish or soya protein meals for dinner, with small snacks of nuts and full fat, preferably Greek type, yogurt. Plus a variety of dark green veg and small amounts of tomatoes etc.

I just can't bear counting grams, it reminds me too much of the old counting calories regimes that used to depress me and send me into bingeing out of boredom! Does anyone else here do the LC thing without counting?

The two main things I need to do though are 1- stop the drinking and 2- up the exercise, as I have slackened up in the last few weeks due to holidays and heavy periods!

    Have a good day all
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

long time lurker of this thread, i mainly eat low carb. the one meal i find difficult is breakfast, have tried eggs, bacon, etc, and manage sometimes, but other days i really struggle, and want something that dosent need cooking, and resort back to weetabix or instant oats.
all other meals i do really well, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, with salad or veg
i eat a small handful of nuts if i need a snack, which usually i dont need.
please can somebody help me with some breakfast ideas please

Morning Caterina. I don't count carbs either as meals are fish and salad or fish and spinach for instance. I don't suppose there is much lower than that. I don't know the carbs in soya milk which I have in my tea, I daren't look as I won't switch to cows milk.

Reading back through the posts I can't see anyone who eats more than 3 meals a day. When I lost my first stone I was eating every 4 hours to stoke the metabolism fire. Don't any of you do that?

I too must get back on the weights machine not only for muscle but it makes me happier.

Good news! I forgot the fridge door and there is a pot of Longley Farm cottage cheese and some cheddar.

    Padstow - how about these?

    http://www.stltoday.com/lifestyles/food-and-cooking/article_0cdb7136-2e04-5264-af7a-117745520fb3.html

    http://trinidadrecipes.blogspot.co.uk/2008/07/curry-cabbage-and-salmon.html ( no rice)

    Cheesy carrots

Not sure if you have any onion but would only cost 20p to buy one

Sorry but I love making something good out of leftovers. Sure you have plenty of ideas of your own.

Sock knitter - I often have flax porridge for breakfast. It isn't cheap, but is very filling. Holl*nd & B sell Linwoods flax, either on its own or mixed with seeds, berries, etc. I put a couple of spoonfuls in a bowl, add a spoonful of Sains basics peanut butter, add hot water and some double cream. Mix and eat - can taste a bit bland though you could add cinnamon, etc.

I'm another who doesn't count carbs. I try to eat lc foods without additives.

I am a long term lurker as well, isn't it interesting how little spats bring lurkers out of the woodwork.

I would just like to say a couple of things

Firstly Atkins only suggests 20g of carbs for the first two weeks of Induction and then a gradual increase until weight loss stalls, so those including me who continue to eat less than 20g are not in effect following Atkins.

Carrots which a lot of low carbers here seem to advocate are actually fairly high in their carb content, for low carb veg they really need to be green!

Well done to all those who are succeeding in their low carb lifestyle, many people make adaptions to eating plans that work with their lifestyle and as long as you are aware they are higher in carbs and you still lose weight then I see no proble. The issue is that you are aware and so are others if you discuss it.

I hope you all have a good day!
