    Hi All

Been to nurse for weigh in this morning, 5lb down on my last, which I think was up a notch, must update my sig, but I am more than half way hurrah. 7.5lb since came back from hols. Which is actually six weeks ago. Had I not tried (and failed!) my atkins stint in the middle, I might have done better. Still, you live and learn!

    Today I'm having
    Breakfast - harrogate sausages
    Lunch - greek salad
    Dinner - thai curried chicken
Oatbran - must sneak it in somewhere. Perhaps with yoghurt for supper...

Made a big frittata while the curry was cooking, so thats working lunches sorted for next couple of days.

Glad you had a nice holiday, Sheila, and Edwardia, great news about the eye test!

bossymoo - well done on the weight loss :T

Got email from Morrisons. In a nutshell tho they don't allow GM ingredients in their products, they DO allow farmers to feed animals and poultry with GM feed. As it's not labelled (Morrisons failed to explain why) the only way to be sure that you're not eating GM fed animals and poultry at Morrisons is to eat from their organic range < what they said !

Got an email from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (not personally lol) today re the Fish Fight to stop fish being chucked back in the sea once fishermen are over quota. EU is trying to carry on with this by back door despite big campaign against it. www.fishfight.net if you're interested.

Sorry if I come across as some sandal wearing hippie tonight lol

Er umm.. well nothing I guess apart from the smell of patchouli ? :D

I called Waitrose, they don't allow GM ingredients in own brand food nor GM feed for animals and poultry although they say it's really difficult.

Diabetes UK just emailed me back about their position on low carb diets basically referring me to a statement. Haven't read it myself yet but here it is

    www.diabetes.org.uk/About_us/Our_Views/Position_statements/Consumption-of-carbohydrate-in-people-with-diabetes/

not sure why that doesn't work sorry

The reply says nowt abt the corporate sponsors Kellogg's and Shredded Wheat !:rotfl:

Well, the new start started with my realising I had no green veg or salad in the house LOL. So it's not been the healthiest of days. I did finish off the flax/mushroom crackers (no, I wouldn't recommend them, I'll stick with just the flax next time).

Congratulations on the results of your eye exam Edwardia and on everyone's weightloss, courage and strength in the face of carbversity.

And, speaking as the daughter of two card carrying hippies (I think the barefoot wedding photos and driving to India in a VW are probably sufficient qualification LOL) there's nothing wrong with either hippyness or sandals, though I too draw the line at patchouli (or incense of any type for that matter). Not so sure about the lentils, ratatouille and radiation stopping bread of my childhood either, Cranks has a lot to answer for!

Sounds like you had an interesting childhood daska. My experience of being a hippie went down to wearing a bell round my neck for 1 day, aged 17, and then decided that I looked ridiculous. Did like Indian clothes though and the music :D

We now have a puppy in the house, 10 weeks old, and it is a new experience for me as I have not had many dealings with dogs before. Everyone else is still in bed so I, getting up early as I do, have her jumping all over me, eating everything in site and trying to get to my yogurt and flax. Found her in the linen basket when I came down instead of her bed and had to mop the floor. She is rather cute though and likes a cuddle in the evenings when I am downstairs on my own ;)

Have a great day everyone and keep the recipes coming please as variety ............

Just had time to skim read for the last few days, so I've probably missed things :o

Well done on the weight losses, and brilliant news about your eye test Edwardia. :j

Re sweet cravings - I find if I have something strongly savoury and/or salty it curbs my cravings (I'm probably just weird though!) A chunk of extra mature cheddar and some salted pistachios is my current favourite.

Aww, a new puppy :T I adore puppies
