Nothing to do with food, but I hope these Italian earthquakes aren't going to affect peoples travels??!!
Sorry that sounds a bit callous/trivial against the poor people who are affected, not meant that way!0 -
Mmm on the aubergine Parmesan thingy...Bossymoo

Jimmy and the Giant Supermarket 9pm tonight Channel 4.. Jimmy Doherty is trying to get Tesco to improve their welfare standards starting with their own brand meatballs. (we need an eye rolling emoticon)
I'll point out even before I watch it, that improved animal welfare standards won't stop Tesco putting sodium metabisulphite and breadcrumbs in all their 86% beef meatballs - even Tesco Finest Italian style meatballs !
OH is grilling turkey kebabs tonight so anything could happen

Evening all, another beautiful one
Well I had a go at the lasagne(before I saw rest of useful advice) I think it turned out like a lasagne equivalent of an Eton mess!! Somehow I got too much water in it. But the positive was it tasted ok. Ended up throwing in onion, garlic, tinned tomatoes, courgettes, mushrooms, last bit of quorn in freezer, herbs, layered with aubergine and a packet cheese sauce mixed with almond milk lol. I am sure the packet stuff doesn't contain cheese so should be ok(will soon know if not) I know that it will be full of nasties but hey one baby step at a time. I somehow missed the bit about egg sheets will put it down on my list for next time.
Hello Gray Malkin well done on getting as far as you have done.
edwardia-not me but one of my brood and I can't ever see them low carbing(sure it would help them if they did though) 13 tests is a lot-is that from one sample? I know that other tests are run on 'our' sample provided, consultant mostly concerned about LFT/CRP but they also run for anaemia, vit D, etc. drugs they are on also greatly reduce immune system too.
murphydog999 was thinking the exact same thing0 -
just back from a long day, hot day at work , home now sitting in the living room with a lovely breeze, having a cuppa ( english breakfast loose tea made in a pot)
need to make my packed lunch for tomorrow, been having salads and i dont fancy another one , i may make an omelette instead
not read the thread yet today, but hope everyone is doing ok
will catch up later x0 -
Thanks for the welcome everyone.
My sister started doing Dukan (as I think someone else on here is?) about the same I started low carbing, and she's lost over 40 lbs. Looking at her food list though, I don't think I'd do so well on it. (No cheese?!!, no cream?!) She says she couldn't do low carb though because she'd miss her oatmeal.
I guess we all have to choose something that works for us.0 -

I'm trying to keep my dh away from the news about the earthquakes(!), I'm still going. My sister's area has not felt the quakes, she's up in the mountains by San Pellegrino.(Where the water comes from)0 -

Hi there jm2926 welcome
and thanks for the recipe, I'm sure that will be useful !
Gray Malkin your sister has done amazingly ! :T You're right about doing our own thang, I don't think any of us low carb in exactly the same way.
marrbett I bet the countryside around there is beautiful
hey sistercas ! (((sistercas)))
devildog we all make mistakes cooking that's part of the fun, to experimentRe: the samples I think that's usually a minimum of about 8 vials of blood, depends on the phlebotomist/nurse doing it. I had anaemia but low carbing has fixed that
OH went to four supermarkets this evening and couldn't find a cucumber or spring/salad onions anywhere !0 -
I'm the one doing Dukan, I struggle to lose with Atkins, no idea why, and am desperate to lose weight. Am half way there, though, thanks to the Dukan thing. About 40lb also. Depending on what day I get weighed!
But I like to stick my oar in to the low carb chat, plus I keep switching back and forth. Sometimes I miss the cheese and cream, so I try Atkins again. Then I get cross wi myself haha because my weight sticks, so I go back again and again and then again.
Anyway! Welcome!Bossymoo
