I've checked with ours and we do not have fluoride added either - North West. If we did I would invest in a filter to remove it and start a campaign to get it removed from the water. Fluoride is taken up by the pineal gland. The pineal is where you make melatonin which regulates the sleep / wake cycle.

It is also the 'third eye'. As I do not particularly want a crusty third eye I would pay to have fluoride removed while I kicked up such a fuss the water company would be tempted to hire a hit man :rotfl:

I'm in the north west too!
Can I just clarify? So fluoride in the water can potentially cause problems for sleep cycles? And what's the "third eye"??
Sorry I'm very slow this morning:)

:jGoing to Legoland! Am pottering here while waiting for my sausages and chicken to cook. Doing lots of meat and salad to take with us, I do really like Legoland but the food:( and the price .

My work have organised a day there for employees at a special price of £10 a ticket and from 5-9pm the park is only open to us. What a fab day weather wise too:T.

Hope everyone has a sun shiny day..off to check my spicy chicken thighs.

The amount of rubbish we would ingest if we just took any old crap off the shelves is astounding. E numbers make me really angry. They also use misleading names for things to make you think it's something else. For example, MSG gives me migraines, they use a whole host of names for it including NATURAL FLAVOURINGS! This is why i turned to paleo in the end, meat, veg, fruit, eggs and water.

I'm moving this way too confused76, I was just so horrified by pork loin chops from Tesco with sodium acetate and dried glucose syrup, which had 11% added water as well.

In principle I'm eating meat, fish, seafood, poultry, game, eggs, veg a little fruit (most spikes my BG), tea/herb tea, ground coffee very occasionally and bottled water.

Any advice for me would be great ! xx

It does seem to be working as my liver enzymes dropped from 96 (almost double what they should be) to low 80s in first two weeks. I'm not eating anything more than -10 on the mildly inflammatory scale and nothing in moderately or strongly inflammatory sections. :)

    schoolhouse - have a lovely time !

I know, i never thought to check meat until you mentioned the chops...how ridiculous is that?! And so unnecessary...why do chops need sweetening?!!!!

I don't have any sauces or dressings as these tend to contain glucose-fructose syrup. Even some kinds of good old ketchup have added sugar of some description. The only thing i use is herbs and spices, if at all.

Someone has thrown my little pot of duck fat away :rotfl:I was saving that!!

How do you check your liver enzymes Edwardia?

I've only just started paying attention to the inflammatory scale, very interesting. I passed it onto my friend who has arthritis too. xx

Liver function test (LFT) is a blood test. Anyone on long term medication will likely get them regularly. Normal is below 50 according to my GP. I don't know what made mine go up, suspect it had been like it for awhile. I hope the reason that it's going down is that I gave up diet Pepsi and sweeteners last month and other additives this month.

Talked to a senior grader at the eye screening service this week. The primary graders thought I had a problem, the secondary graders didn't so it went to arbritration. It was decided that I should go to hospital for a 3D imaging test. As my optician (looking at my eye live) didn't think I need laser treatment I'll be crossing everything when I go 11th June.

Question - why am I getting whiteheads eww ? Is it toxic gunk coming out of my skin ??

Oh dear, I baked a loaf of bread with some white flour in it. It really does have a siren call! 2 slices later and I'm really not feeling very good, my hands and legs are really aching. It was yummy but was it worth it...? No!

Have not lost a sausage on my Atkins week. How annoying. Back to Dukan? What is it about Atkins that doesn't work for me? I try to keep to 20 carbs...

Hi Bossymoo - Maybe a calorie counter would help to see what's happening?

I find lc helps to regulate how much I want to eat but I sometimes still have trouble making the overall calories low enough to lose weight... hello, my name is shebrett and I have a nut addiction... I use fitness pal occasionally when my weight loss stalls just to see where I'm getting in to trouble. Trouble with a capital M for Macadamias :rotfl:

Hi Edwardia - not sure if you've tried it before but oil cleansing method is great for blackheads and whiteheads. Also I like to grind up adzuki beans in a coffee grinder to a fine powder to make a good exfolliant for the tough bits :D

Just for interest, I've only recently found this thread and you have LOADS of low carb info and have done really well on it. I'm a primal fan myself but am new to it and so was wondering if there was any particular method you found to be more effective for you than the others?

Hello shebrett with the nut addiction... ;)

Macadamia nuts are quite carby, a cupful is 18 something grams of carbs. If you could bear to switch to pistachios then you'd get 47 for 7 something carbs (still wondering how they worked that out).

ssshh don't mention the word calorie.. low carbers don't calorie count so I just altered my signature ;) Mercy and I both had to go bold to remind sheila54 before I get grey hairs (((sheila54)))

No I must admit I used to just have a monthly Clarins facial and slap on moisturiser. Now I've had so many other things on my mind I've not done much to the phizog, probably why it's on strike :o I don't know anything about oil cleansing, what do I do ?

I'm presuming Primal n Paleo are much the same thing. I didn't eat junk foods but I couldn't be bothered to make my own ketchup, mayo and coleslaw so I bought stuff like that. Then I found out that Tesco put dried glucose syrup etc in plain pork chops and I thought eww and stopped buying anything with additives

I'm not following any particular program, never have, I was finding that the carbs the NHS told me to eat were making me sicker. Tried low GI, didn't work for me so I started reading, and ended up doing my own version of low carb.

Started with 100g carbs a day then down to 50g. Photocopied recipes at first nothing more than 10g carbs per serving. Now OH and I tend to make recipes up as we go along but I stick to low carb low GI food.

daska well it's like me and cracked black pepper Kettle Chips. I now know that if I eat them I'll be ick so I can't <sniffle>. I guess you'll eat it or not depending on how bad you felt. This is why I'm a bit anti-low carb baking. It's as easy as grabbing the wrong flour by accident/purpose and then 200g of glucose in the bloodstream. According to Dr Robert Lustig MD (one of my low carb heroes) refined white flour has the same effect as sugar ie goess straight to glucose - and from my BG meter I can say he's right.
