Mercy - of course I don't mind :D.. Sometimes go bold myself but you are right, the Baileys thing is a pain as I love it as a treat sometimes.

Edwardia - I will try to get some of your salty toothpaste and thanks for caring (((((Edwardia)))))

murphydog999 - no I don't know about the triglycerides and my GP is reluctant to tell me specific information unless I go to see her. She just freaked as my total cholesterol had been fine before and was then 7.3. Told me that there was no proof that coconut oil was any good and to cut it out as it was loaded with saturated fat and all dairy as well. Never mind I will see how it goes and have a retest in July for both thyroid and cholesterol. Just had some cheddar and cucumber so won't be cutting out dairy.

daska - Started to watch the lecture on you tube but, as it is over an hour long, I will look at it tomorrow. Looks very interesting!!

devildog - not sure which brand of coconut milk you use but yes it is a good source of fat but some of them are more watery than others in my expereince. I tend to use coconut cream, like daska and shebrett, but a can is good for thai green curry or to use in place of dairy in drinks etc.

You could make a nice curry with courgettes, cauliflower, asparagus and a half carrot using the coconut milk and spices. You could also thicken with lentils or nuts for some protein and use the Marigold stock as well.

It is worth checking your local water supplier though. I was checking ours to see what the sulphite/sulphate levels were and i noticed that my local supply doesn't have fluoride added, i was quite surprised by that! :)

I've checked with ours and we do not have fluoride added either - North West. If we did I would invest in a filter to remove it and start a campaign to get it removed from the water. Fluoride is taken up by the pineal gland. The pineal is where you make melatonin which regulates the sleep / wake cycle.

It is also the 'third eye'. As I do not particularly want a crusty third eye I would pay to have fluoride removed while I kicked up such a fuss the water company would be tempted to hire a hit man :rotfl:

The thyroid takes up fluoride in preference to iodides which causes problems in that area.

Older people's bones are badly affected by fluoride.

Children who are subjected to too much fluoride develop fluorosis which is a yellow spotting or mottling of teeth. This cannot be cured if it occurs in the adult teeth.

Not nice stuff really. Worst bit is that whilst fluoride may have some good effects if applied topically to teeth, it has no good use if ingested.

anyone interested in further reading - it's quite surprising just how bad for a human body fluoride is.

    Hi all

Have not lost a sausage on my Atkins week. How annoying. Back to Dukan? What is it about Atkins that doesn't work for me? I try to keep to 20 carbs... Still, made a lovely curry with some coconut milk the other night. Will have to freeze the rest until I swap again lol.

So, better go make my eggs...

Happy Saturday! I am painting my bedroom today...

Quick question please....I bought the lactofree milk for myslf this week and was just wondering if I was wasting my time (and money) being as I still eat cream and cheese.

    Thanks.

    Morning all !

andrewsmum the reason I have Lactofree is that it has less carbs than milk but it's still real milk. Butter, cheese and yogurt are less carby than milk.

I have just been a traitor lol. Wandered over and looked at the Dukan thread(naughty me) especially as bossymoo said she was going back to it(commiserations on not losing on Atkins week) For fun decided to 'register' after all that is all that you are doing really by requesting your 'true' weight according to that and my current weight I have 5lb to lose lol . I was very honest too with the frame size(I have always said that I was large/big boned ;) ) but actually admitted I can get my fingers to overlap around my wrist.I am positive I can 'pinch' more than 5lb in excess fat!!
Hmmm wonder if they deliberately set your true weight at a higher level?

Anyhow my two timing is over and I have wandered back :)

    Morning all

Fluoride is not added to Thames water either but the website states that 0.1 - 0.4mg / l naturally occurs.

andrewsmum - I also use lactofree as it is less carbs and tastes better to me. Also it is lactofree and some people are intolerant of lactose.

Mercy - read article and it reinforced my decision to ban fluoride where possible. Thanks

Out with my other brother and family today for lunch as he is 60. Also out at 60th birthday party for some friends this evening. Have to be good but not sure what will be offered. Don't want to drink as stomach a bit queasy.

    Have a good day everyone!!

sheila54 have a fantastic day, hope it's as sunny where you are as it is here :)

andrewsmum there has been a softening and low carb diets are now tentatively grudgingly mentioned for weight loss only by NHS which just follows on from American Diabetes Association guidelines now.

bossymoo best thing is what works for you ;)

devildog well it works for bossymoo but it's not really low carb with all those oats..

ooh, i'm in the North West too :D United Utilities? I didn't realise fluoride was so damaging!

The amount of rubbish we would ingest if we just took any old crap off the shelves is astounding. E numbers make me really angry. They also use misleading names for things to make you think it's something else. For example, MSG gives me migraines, they use a whole host of names for it including NATURAL FLAVOURINGS! This is why i turned to paleo in the end, meat, veg, fruit, eggs and water.

Have a fun day everyone xx
