Hello you lovely low carbers, you!
Ate pretty much the same as yesterday so far. Not had eve meal yet and it will be either kimchi or yogurt and a few pecans. Not hungry.
Weighed today and happily I am only 1 kg heavier than normal so all this fatness seems to be a wheat reaction  Had a good think and an intensive Google. I do believe what I'm experiencing is down to some Baileys I consumed on SaturdayIt was the only thing I've had which could possibly contain wheat and it does.
Heyho, live n learn etc :rotfl:
My breakfast shake may not seem appealing to most :rotfl: I usually have just the milk, turmeric and pepper. This is essential for my skin condition - trust me.You don't really taste the turmeric or pepper, it's not strong or currylike at all :rotfl: Adding the coconut oil was a way of making the oil more easily consumed. The modified shake is a little sweet and only tastes of coconut. Since doing this I do not get gagging with the oil and it lies on my stomach more easily.
Today my shake filled me up from 6am till 11am.

Edwardia - Thanks for the heads up about Dr Briffa's blog about smoking and weight gain - interesting.
I must be stern and not at all Mercy-like for this one. Deep breath
SHEILA Please quit it with the calorie thing! and the sat fat thing!
Also, I believe that once you've eaten the fermented foods, they stop fermenting
I found a lovely tea in Lidl the other day, Lord Nelson Ayurveda Lemon and Black Pepper Herbal Infusion. The bags are full of quite big chunks of stuff, rather than a fine chopped tea. No artificial flavours. Very nice.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a lovely weekend!

devildog - Marigold is a vegetarian/vegan stock powder which, like most stock powders/cubes, is very salty. Hence the suggestion.
Are you allergic to cow dairy or do you have an intolerance? The only reason I ask is that if it's an intolerance this can change - my dad still can't cope with large quantities of cow dairy but he can now cope easily with goat/sheep products and cow butter/cream and a bit of cheese. So unless you have a full blown allergy it may be worth seeing what you can cope with.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Hiya!
Yep, flouride is warned against on toothpaste AND routinely added to the water supply. Go figure :rotfl: It's all about the money.

It is worth checking your local water supplier though. I was checking ours to see what the sulphite/sulphate levels were and i noticed that my local supply doesn't have fluoride added, i was quite surprised by that!0 -
confused76 I agree good idea to check with local supplier so you know what you're up against - mine was really helpful - I moved here from an area with even harder water and the first few times I used the washing machine here it frothed all over the kitchen floor
There is a school of thought that says bottled water isn't environmentally friendly and I accede that may be true.
I got into the habit of drinking it abroad though. When I read that every glass of tapwater in London has been through seven people I was really glad I hadn't drunk the stuff when I lived/worked there. I'm sure I must have avoided some nasties over the years.
Sheila54 see Mercy got out the bold too :T
Mercy you're welcome hun xx I get my Lord Nelson green tea with vanilla and peppermint tea from Lidl and my local one doesn't have that
Big hugs all round cos it's fun on here !!0 -
Hi - I fell well rebuked
Just trying to follow guidelines but it gets confusing sometimes.
Hope that you have all had a good day. Oddly enough I have lost 1 inch from my waist and hips but no weight. Good though as I was measuring to get some linen trousers for my holiday
A lot of information to read, which I will do later when it is more peaceful.
Mercy - I didn't know that there was wheat in Baileys either so it explains a lot.
devildog - I use Marigold yeast free vegetable bouillon as my stock base for all cooking and it comes in a tub with an orange lid. Can be found in most supermarkets.0 -

Edwardia it is not any of yours fault, it's mine for being picky with some things, allergy and my not wanting to eat meat(despite loving it)
I can tell you exactly what I like veg wise-potatoes/parsnips/carrots(lol not good)asparagus and cauli rice! it's the same with the fruit really I like all the sweet ones:) I'm a lost causeCheese is the major no no followed swiftly after by icecream. re milk there is something available in the health food shop that helps you break down lactose but I don't have a problem in the stomach with it.
All the info you have provided is great thank you, however i have the sinking feeling that if I am going to get anywhere with this I am going to have to start eating meat againI think I will get hold of the book you mention first though,l at least that way i can say that i really had a go.
daska-thanks for that info, it is on my shopping list.Re allergy or intolerance, took me a while to figure it out but I believe allergy. It doesn't upset my stomach(so apparently knocks out intolerance) don't feel the affects for several hours(unusual for allergy) but anti histamine will help a bit(wouldn't do if intolerance(apparently)).
Sheila54 well done on the inch loss. That was why I was wondering who weighed and who used a tape measure as it appears that the two don't always go hand in hand. I was always fascinated on Supersize/Superskinny when the underweights only gained 2/3 lb but had put on more in inches, why doesn't it work in reverse too. I used to watch it for tips from the underweights
Is coconut milk a good source of fat? Opened a tin this evening and couldn't believe how creamy it was, for some reason I thought it was more watery. can remember looking at the label and the highest figure was for fats but tbh didn't spend too much time looking at the ingredients(was organic though)0 -
coconut is an excellent source of fat - you can also buy the oil to cook with and eat it and moisturise with it as well. Coconut flour is a good thickener and very low in carbs. Coconut milk/cream are good for making curries. All round wonderful really LOL
Dad didn't have a problem with his stomach either. Have you got a referral from the GP to confirm the allergy diagnosis? Suggest you do that - having it on your medical records is probably a good thing. You don't want them accidentally giving you medicines that use a dairy based carrier if it's going to put your life at risk.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Second here for the coconut cream - it's lighter than coconut milk and tasty on it's own as well. Works great as an alternative to yogurt in a smoothie too
Have been looking at sous vide cookers and am sorely tempted ....anyone tried one out?0
