Confused thats good going, it's just fluid loss for me atm, i think my carbs may be slightly high for weight loss but we'll see.
Just had lc courgette bol, lovely too it was, my julienner worked great, very thin strands, although it is rather sharp.
Absolutely roasting here, i've been busy and am about to have a nap (i dont do sun)0 -
When cooking with wine, if the alcohol evaporates, does the sugar go too?
Can I put some red wine in with my bolognaise sauce???Will it be carb friendly???0 -
thanks for the book reviews Edwardia
hmm wonder if my brother might find waist disposal interesting!
I think most of mine is too, mazzers, i think wheat must really have been disagreeing with me with all the bloating. What sort of plan are you following? I'm on paleo/primal and my carbs are between 50-100, so not very low but a lot lower than they were. I think i'd probably feel crappy if i went lower0 -
Hi all!
I've been very bloated and seem very much fatter but don't know if I weigh any more - will check at work tomorrow. Think some of it may be stopping smoking but not sure. I'm listing my foods for today and am open to suggestions.
Here's today's food
B - 100ml ff goat's milk blended with 50g melted coconut oil, turmeric and black pepper*
L - Mexican fudge, baby toms, chinese lettuce, coleslaw.
Eve - kimchi and ham
2L water so far
This equals 1357 cals, 57.4g protein, 22.5g carb, 115.3g fat.
How does this sound?
Not hungry at all.
I plan to keep this or similar up for a while or alter it if there are any suggestions.
Cheers Mx
* This unusual shake is for two reasons, 1 to make coconut oil more easily consumed. 2, I need to take turmeric and black pepper in oil and water (hence milk) to address a skin condition.low carb recipe list - link on page 1 low carb support threadYou don't have any control over what life throws at you.You DO have control over how you react0 -
Ooops! Lunch turned into a bit of a disaster! Chilli and rice with a pint of beer followed by a double ice-cream at Thorntons. Not sure I want to weigh myself tomorrow. Had a lovely day mooching round our local 'big' town with DS2's dad and found a pub we hadn't been in before which had a perfect table for us, he hid in the shade while I worked on upping my vitamin D
Good news from the cardiovascular surgeon this morning, he doesn't think the praxilene I'm on will be at all useful to me so I can drop that and the aspirin completely. Hopefully that will be the end of the stomach problems!
Marrbett - how much wine do you plan to use  Think about the amount that will actually end up in each serving and you'll probably find it's negligible.
Mercy - that shake sounds too revolting for words, I hope it's far better in reality than the description suggests.
Edwardia - I like both those Taubes and Briffa books as well but I've not tried 'Waist Disposal', I might order a copy which I can then give to Dad. Have you tried the Art and Science of low carbohydrate living yet?
Mazzers/confused76 - well done on the weight loss, it's a wonderful feeling isn't it!Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
48 down, 22 to go
Low carb, low oxalate Primal + dairy
From size 24 to 16 and now stuck...0 -
daska - well done on surgeon's news :Tbut bad woman on the indulgences
Haven't read it yet no
marrbett - I think the sugar in red wine is mostly turned to alcohol I wouldn't worry about the red.
mercy- I read a post recently about insulin and giving up smoking.. might have been on Dr Briffa's blog..0 -

Just as low carb as is possible without suffering, i reckon it's about 50g carbs per day, tbh, i cant be bothered to work it out, altho i have had a teeny tiny bottle (one glass?)of dry white wine two evenings in a row so that'll stall me, dont care tho, not really had a drink for months.
Every work day has been the same food as its easy when i'm rushing for work.
B is slice lc toast with thick butter and half tsp normal marmalade
L is feta salad with sliced meats
a later snack of one slice lc cheese sandwich and berries/yogurt
D usually consists of a chicken stir fry
lots of water and a few cups of tea/coffee with lactofree throughout the day0 -
Back from the wedding which was brilliant. The week away was fantastic though have come home quite bloated. Too much sugary wheatiness
.
Going to catch up on this thread so will be back when I have read up.
SHEILa54- Thank you for asking after me, you are a wee sweetie:A and I hope you are well.0 -
schoolhouse - glad that you had a good time and hope that the weight isn't too bad!
mazzers - don't knock 7lb, it is goodHope that work just picks up a bit for you!
confused76 - well done on your ongoing weight loss :T. Trying to stick to 40 - 50 carbs a day myself but don't think that I can lose weight on it.
Mercy - like daska I don't fancy your morning shake but everyone to their own. You seem a little calorie deficit to me, but maybe I am a piggyCould the kimchi be giving you gas in view of the fermentantion process?
daska - naughty naughty!Glad that you had a nice day and the news about dropping the meds is great, hope that you feel the benefit soon.
Edwardia - you really do read and research a lot so will have to keep us up to date on what is said please. Thanks.0
