sweaty betty you're more than welcome xx
devildog, eggs are NOT the spawn of the Devil for low carbers.. you can eat as many as you like they are chockful of good stuff !
After about three months of low carbing I had a fasting cholesterol test.
Doc: " Your cholesterol is excellent ! What are you doing ? "
Edwardia: " Eating eggs " <smirk>
I eat a minimum of a dozen free range eggs a week.
Tea isn't bad either nor are herb teas. However if you're sensitive to blood sugar rises then fruit teas can cause a rise if they are made with the fruit not the leaves. Coffee is a diuretic. Tea does contain caffeine but IIRC less than coffee.
Dinner was diced pork shoulder, veg stir fry, bean sprouts (free range egg noodles for OH) using Kikkoman less salt soy sauce. I'm stuffed with bean sprouts now.0 -
Hi :hello:
Can't believe how hot it is!
Lots of interesting info and thanks marbett for the link.
I had a Baileys coffee, here at my brothers last night and have been up most of the night with a really sore stomach. Otherwise I had salad and my normal food as much as possible. He got in nuts, avocado, raspberries but fruit yogs, mayo with veg oil and single cream. So difficult to explain when he has been so kind so I also had a fruit Activia which may not have been too good. Not sure what to do as I really don't want a repeat of last night but not to offend either.
I hope that everyone has a good day and will try to check back later to read the news:)0 -
Thanks for the information about cinnamon Edwardia and Mercy. I had a look and the cinnamon that I have is from Indonesia and so probably cassia. I have been eating it every day too so I will have to go in search of some other cinnamon.0

Well I've just tucked into Waitrose pork and herb chipolatas which are 0.5g carbs per 2 sausages. They are 88% pork with no breadcrumbs. They must be ok, surely?

I can think of another, but I'm going to be polite LOL
A lot of the supermarkets stock good sausages with a high meat content. At Tesco you could look out for "Jimmy's Farm" (0.3g), "The Black Farmer" (1.0g) or "Debbie and Andrew's" (their pork and herb have only 0.11g)
I have a problem getting decent sausages (and pate for that matter) because I detest porkEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Hi scott, a lot of low carbers eat sausages. Suggest you shop around and look at the meat and carbs content ie high meat content low carbs. I can't suggest any brands though as I eat locally made sausages - my favourites are wild boar
You can also tuck into bacon, ham, salami, chorizo, brawn, haslet, pork luncheon meat, ox tongue, Krakowska sausage etc.The majority of cooked meats are low carb, even honey-roasted ham.
IIRC Black pudding is high in carbs though and I'm not sure about frankfurters, hot dogs and Saveloys.
Finding cooked meats without nitrates is way trickier.. so far I've only found Prosciutto di Parma (Parma ham) in Lidl and Duchy Originals organic dry cured oven roasted ham in Waitrose0 -
do you think that locally made sausages at the butchers would be lower in carbs? for example steak slice sausage?
cheers

! DS2 opted for an apple and a chicken drumstick for breakfast this morning! (I coated them in jalfrezi paste before roasting them last night)
He's obviously enjoying the diet changes.I can't get over how he's changed from choosing mainly water to drinking milk since I found the raw milk supplier. And he loves the spiraliser. I'm thinking I might try making yoghourt with him, see if I can get over the automatic refusal, if he sees it's made of the milk he likes maybe he'll try it? It worked for sun dried tomatoes, he saw his little cherry tomatoes go into the dehydrator and was ever so excited when they came out. He'll eat pretty much anything if I can just get him to try a mouthful - that's the hard part LOL
(he still gets his choice which includes weetabix, toast, scrambled/HB egg etc)Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

You'd have to ask the butcher, they all have their own recipes.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
