I'm in the north west too!
Can I just clarify? So fluoride in the water can potentially cause problems for sleep cycles? And what's the "third eye"??
Sorry I'm very slow this morning:)

    Hi sweetie

    Have a read of this

    http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/08/09/fluoride-and-pineal-gland.aspx?e_cid=20120523_DNL_HTL_fluoride

    Hope it clarifies things :)

Evening all, hope the sun is still shining for you.
Sheila54, I'm not sure what brand the coconut milk was but it was mega creamy and delicious, def on the list to buy again. The curry you mentioned sounds good-one to try for me next week.
Edwardia I know it isn't low carb with all those oats I was just interested to see what my 'true' weight was.
Confused 76.Quite agree re all the additives in food Mil gave me a little book about 20 years ago which details the E number, it's chemical name, food it is found in and what illnesses and complaints it has been linked to-scary stuff. So saying I have to confess that I do have some MSG in my cupboard that is occasionally used if I cook a chow mein(I did say I was bad ;) ) Did you know that one of the ingredients in ice cream is the same as the one they use in paint thinners?
Inflammatory cases based on diet is interesting. My youngest suffers from a chronic inflammatory complaint and I am sure that a more restricted diet would do some good, unfortunately is currently at the age where they do not want to compromise on what is eaten(which I can understand to an extent) I hope the time will come though, They also have to undergo a LFT every three months :(
As for me, I don't think I have eaten or drank nearly enough today, 2 eggs and salad at lunch(plus dressing) tuna and salad and dressing at tea and couple of tablespoons of coconut milk during the day. Just really not hungry, don't think it is down to the weather though I am just not eating anything that has addictive chemicals in it(now IF In were to open a tin of pringles(which isn't allowed and I haven't got any) I would polish off the whole tub!!)

Here is a link which talks about the difference between Paleo and Primal x

I'd watched a YouTube video by Dr Cordain PhD and I was shocked therefore to read on the link that his version of Paleo includes stuff I've given up  So confused76 I'd have to say I'm er more Primal-Organic then :D Thanks for setting me straight. xx

Some time ago I found another low carb diet called The Silver Cloud Diet, well I found another today - The Schwarzbein Principle from Dr Elizabeth Schwarzbein MD who actually listened when her patients with diabetes told her that the carbs were making them sicker. She also used the diet to treat people with thyroid conditions.
    https://www.schwarzbeinprinciple.com

B - Two free range boiled eggs
L - Houmous, carrot batons, pistachios, cherries
D - Heirloom tomato, black olive, Brie and Parma ham salad
4 x 50cl bottles cold Evian, peppermint tea x3, green tea with vanilla x2, Earl Grey x1 - 25C here

devildog - looks like OH gets the ice cream still lurking in freezer then ! OH likes Pringles I'd never see them if I did like them :D

Confused76 - thanks for the link for paleo/primal differences, much better explanation that I could do!

Edwardia - the oil cleansing method (OCM) has a big post somewhere here on MSE but it's basically to use oils to clean and moisturise your skin. To clean - use a mixture of castor oil and olive oil (more castor oil if your skin is oily and less if dry - about half half for normal skin) and massage it into your face for 5 mins or so - if you have blackheads they will ease themselves out of your pores and you will be able to feel them like grains of sand as you massage. When finished take a facecloth as hot as you can stand and gently press it to the face. When no longer warm, use it to wipe your face and then dampen to hot again and repeat this step until you can feel oil is gone. Splash your face with cold water, pat dry and moisturise with olive oil or jojoba oil (jojoba is very good for skin prone to breakouts). I find this works about once a week, the rest of the week I wash with whatever face wash you like and moisturise with jojoba oil. Hope that makes sense, there's a whole load of small changes and tips on the topic but that's the basics.

i think when i low carb i generally lean towards primal ( mark sisson is a hero to me :o) but i still have some artificial sweeteners which i am hoping to kick eventually

had a BBQ tonight which was lovely and fitted in well with lc , posh burgers , sausages and chicken and chorizo skewers and salad

    Hello!

No it's not strictly low carb but I like it here lol. It's not all of the oat, you know, just the bran haha.

I'm not allowed to count calories... you get told off for that here ;-) lol

I don;t think Dukan is really marketed as low carb. It's more that it's high protein I think. Because it;s low fat too, which goes against the grain of this thread a little. But, as Edwardia says, whatever works for me, and this is the one that drops the weight for me (grr I do get bored with it though!)

Glad you like it here bossy :j

You don't get told off for posting calorific counts on occasion, just for thinking it's important :) I posted my calorie count t'other day as it was so low but I was really very full :)

Whatever WORKS for anyone is obviously good :D

    /QUOTE]

In the book Living Low Carb (which I do recommend for loads of good info) the author goes through 38 different plans available, and he gives Schwarzbein 4/5, but 5/5 for health. It's not designed specifically for weight loss but for metabolic healing. Her key mantra is 'you need to get healthy to loose weight, not loose weight to be healthy.' Which you would have to agree to in principle, but in practice.......?

Another one he really rates is the Rosedale Diet, which focuses on leptin repair (generally the more over-weight you are the more Leptin resistant you are, which will affect how your insulin works), and is considered a 'forever' plan, rather than a non-sustainable diet.

I might look further into this, as it isn't far off what most of us are doing; it looks metabolic reactions, so it's not just based on weight loss.
