Any more than £15 total and you may have to pay VAT, possibly import duty, and last but not least, the Post Office's £8 handling fee as well.

Drink - BhS - peppermint tea
L- Pesto salad from Tesco - baby plum tomatoes, rocket, pine nuts, pesto dressing under 4g carbs/100g - not bad. plus mmm ox tongue from local shop
Drink - Costa - peppermint tea
D - 2 boiled free range eggs
Intensive shopping with my mother - hit Budgens, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Holland and Barrett, Marks and Spencer, local discount store, several charity shops (no low carb books tho
Don't own any scales or a long mirror and last time measured was December when bought new trousers in Marks and Spencer. I reckoned I'd lost a couple of inches and guessetimated myself at size 16. My mother didn't think I'd lost that much. She borrowed a tape measure in Marks and Spencer and we both got a shock.. I'd lost FIVE inches off my waist since December. So I bought myself two pairs of cotton cargoes and a chambray shirtMy waist is only two inches bigger than husband's hehe. I got 16 because the 14 were a bit tight but
Very nearly not overweight now. I'll be borrowing OH's jeans soon (both 31 inch leg)
No calorie counting, no measuring food, no scale-watching - no diet at all, just cutting carbs as much as poss 99% of the time.
Shopped out, taking day out to relax.. xx0 -
Hi everyone,

Well done on your loss, mummy!
I was a bit naughty and ate some biscuits last night. No weight gain, wasn't like a whole packet as I could have done in the past, but I think I had 3 or 4 yikes!
On the plus side, I went to H&B and got 2 pots of coconut oil, from their penny sale (one full price, one for a penny). Also got some milled flax, no added sugar chocolate, some dairy free treats for my little lady and a bag of chopped nuts that were reduced. I melted a bit of the choc with a drop of coconut oil and added the nuts. When will I just accept I don't like nuts??? It's the texture. Can't stand them squeaking against my teeth... Don't mind them ground, though.
Tried to make my own version of chocolate philly this morning using quark and 85% choc. It's edible but not like the real thing. Maybe I should switch the quark for actual Philly? It's just what I had it the fridge. The choc philly was really smooth.
Anyway, sausage, turkey rasher, mushroom and tomato omelette for breakfast, with leftovers and salad for lunch, not sure about dinner. But I have my oatbran loaf, which is what I wanted the chocolate philly for.
Am at home for the next four days so going to sort my freezer, think I have 3 separate batches of moussaka in there... and I want to try making my own curry base.
Oh, and well done Mercy! A whole month!Bossymoo

'Diet Does It' turned up today.
Gayelord Hauser says (in 1944) that diabetes has increased rapidly since the milling of grains removed most of the B vitamins from the diet. He says no-one knows what causes diabetes but that a defiency in B vitamins can cause insufficient insulin production. (true ????)
Gayelord Hauser says that all refined sugar, white flour, confections and pastries should be avoided. He claims that all adults lack the enzymes to digest milk sugars (true ????) so the sugar content of milk should be ignored.
He says there is almost no starch in pure wheatgerm (true ?????) and a half cup should be eaten daily. He claims powdered brewers' yeast is starch free (true ????) and a tablespoon should be taken after each meal (sounds yuck anyone had it ?).
Gayelord writes that when citrus juices are avoided because of sugar content, large amounts of tomatoes green peppers and other Vitamin C-rich foods should be eaten and if necessary supplemented with a vitamin C tablet.
He moans that the emphasis has been on planning the diet to supply adequate protein, restricting sugars and starches and including enough fats to supply calories for energy but that vitamin C and the B vitamins have often been neglected.
He ends by saying that provided the vitamin needs are met properly the diabetic diet can be one of the most healthful.
I just thought I'd throw those snippets in as I read.0 -
There may well be something in his thoughts on Vit B, I seem to remember something about a study in India that showed a deficiency during pregnancy can lead to your children being more likely to develop type 2.
How on earth does he suggest you eat a tablespoon of powdered brewers yeast? In water? I used to quite like the taste of the tabletsEat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
