I'm still plodding along too :)

Good all day, having some fab salads with feta, avacado, ham and scotch egg, everyone in work oohing and aaahing at them :D
but finding a bit of choc hard to resist, happy that the heartburn has gone again tho.

Made scotch eggs from lc sausages and rolled them in crunched up fried onion salad toppings, then oven baked.. yum

Must admit, i'm really tired on lc, went to town shopping and had zero energy, really felt like lying down on the pavement for a nap.. honest, is that bad. (LOL sorry)

    Drink more water

Was so energetic when i did IF after 19 hours without food and 5 hours high carb, than eating regular low carb.
    I am torn :undecided

Thats what i do with gut bacteria mercy, take a supplement.
    YAY! :rotfl:

    Hiya sweetie!

Heartburn - try having half a flat teaspoon of baking soda in a 200ml / 8oz glass of water every morning (oh no! My god don't I have enough to do already???) and just see how you go ? Actually if heartburn occurs just have the above about your person at all times :rotfl:

Have to agree on the Intermittent Fasting. I tried this to great effect when I was off work. However, now I'm doing more I like being hungry less :)

We all need to find our way. If it doesn't work - and you really did it properly - try something else.

All my everything else's will still be low carb, mind :)

    Hi

Thanks for all of the advice and for the code Mercy :)

These are some of the articles that I read about sweeteners. Having said that I tried the Canderel version of stevia today in coffee and it left a bad taste in my mouth and hardly sweetened at all. What does everyone else feel?

I do prefer low carb eating as I don't get so much wind and was feeling a lot better in myself. Just very tired and achy at the moment and fed up with not losing weight. I know that 6 stone is great but I really want to knock off some more, if I can, and wondered if I was just taking in too many calories, although keeping to the low carb lifestyle.

I have just bought some Iodized salt as my GP has suggested that my thyroid is struggling, to use her words, and I have to retest next month. I have read that low carb eating can cause thyroid problems but just, like all of us, want to be healthy and as fit as possible. Bit late coming but better late than never!!!

    Hiya Sheila

    Are you drinking enough water?

    Is you peepee pale?

If 'yes' to all, you'll just have to give up the idea of calories. Make a sign on a piece of paper saying I thought I knew what calories meant and symbolically burn it - you need to find 'me space' here, most observers might think you are mad.

Then just simply get on with the rest of your life.

Have a good read and relax. That high fat yogurt or that cream in your coffee, that creamy loveliness wherever it occurs - unless it's had anything added that wasn't simply more cream - Mmmmmm.

I love all you low carb wonderful people! It takes a mental shift but then there is so much!

Big love to all low carbers!

    morning all

just back from 2 days in chester, had a great time visited the zoo and aquarium.
i have realised i am properly addicted to sugar :( couldnt find a l c meal on the menu ( travelodge limited menu) so ended up having pulled pork and potato pie with colcannon mash - it was nice followed it with the biggest bag of maltesers you have ever seen. then at breakfast which was part of the deal , had sausage ,egg and bacon but then had 3 slices ofwhite toast and jam then continued to eat processed carbs until i went to bed last night:( i literally couldnt stop eating and didnt feel full at all
back on it this morning , put 3lbs on

This is because your body was craving the energy that you've denied it by restricting your carb intake. The 3lbs you've put on isn't fat by the way, it's just water now that your liver and muscles have had an opportunity to replenish their glycogen stores.

sheila54 - agree with you, if your bloods were good before then there's no reason to believe that them being good now is misleading. I only mentioned my calorie intake because I was amazed at how little I was eating, or should that be 'ingesting' LOL?

the last week has been wonderful, non-stop, exhausting and a challenge food wise. All my careful plans went out of the window with the addition of the vegetarian and the discovery that the visiting child has bowel problems that constrain what foods he is allowed. Result was that it was me who caved in and I now feel rather unwell. But DS1 and his friend leave tomorrow so I can go back on the straight and narrow without any distractions.

on the positive front my feet are looking a lot better, the GP put me on baby aspirin in addition to the praxilene, the combination of thinner blood and widened blood vessels appears to be making a difference.

    Hi All!

Just posting as me rather than messing up other folks :)

For the first week after being ill it was ok to just have
    B- grapefruit
    L -ham salad
    T - ham / chicken salad

This last week - fully working and actually doing stuff in a day
    B - grapefruit, ham salad
L - whatever ham salad is left
T Ham or chicken, salad, pecan nuts and mayonaisse. Sometimes cold baked beans too.

Obviously, as the week went on the 'ham salad' became much bigger :) Included mexican fudge slices and basically I made a massive lunch box of really good things for eating during the day.

It's all Low carb but doing more really did translate into eating more. But only during the day. My evening meal has stayed the same.

Think the best thing I've done is to decide no food after 18.30. I would normally eat my eve meal at 20.30 or later. But if I keep it earlier I'm benefitting from not eating for 12hrs. That's how I IF. Easier to do longer when i was mostly recumbent :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

But now recumbentcy must be qualified by sleep :) You have no idea how happy I am to be able to do stuff!

But yet, bring on my peaceful, quiet gentle sleep. Twill be nice in about a hour :)Bit busy right now LOL :rotfl::rotfl:

    Big love

Oh I've gone n done it now.

    SLEEP

My 2nd best favourite topic after vitamin D. (and LC, obviously)

I hope you are all having really good sleeps.

Good sleep will give you a good chance of succeeding at anything you do.

    Hows yours?

Sheila54 calories were invented by a Frenchman in the early 19th century as a way of measuring how much energy it took to raise the temperature of an amount of water by 1 degree. Calories, frankly, should never have escaped from the science lab !

Forget calories, to low carb properly you need to be burning fat instead of carbs.

Thanks so much for the pep talks ;) I think that I had become waylaid by fitday and the fact that I am not losing weight at the moment.

daska - glad that you had a good, if hectic, week with relatives and that your feet are better.

I will continue with fitday but ignore the calories and concentrate on carbs and fibre that are so important :D

One other problem has been that I am trying to take a low thyroid diet into consideration as I hate taking tablets of any sort. They all have side effects that can outweigh the benefits in my opinion.
It appears that these following can interfere:
broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, turnips, soybeans, peanuts, linseed, pine nuts, millet, cassava, and mustard greens. Nuts are also suspect. I think that cooking the veg can reduce the effect but a lot of my diet is based around these items!! I think that I am also wheat and gluten intolerent so that adds to the situation.

Sorry to go on but I am trying to get into place a diet that I can stick to for the rest of my life, as well as losing weight, and you have helped a great deal :T

    Have a good day
