lol @ Daska - thanks for encouraging me to spend my hard earned cash .. it will happen for me to, and probably quite soon, be warned!
Well, two slices of cheese and some salami for breakfast, herb tea (so no milk) today, and hope that wagon has me firmly in place again!
Mazzers - my nails always split halfway down, but don't seem so bad at the moment. I am slathering my hands with lotion a few times a day though.0 -
Soured cream.
I bought a tub for some reason. What shall I do with it?Bossymoo

mazzers - nails sound painfulI started this discussion about nails and have now found out that ridged nails, which can cause them to split, and thinning hair can be caused by a low thyroid, which they are monitoring me for. Don't know if this may apply to you but it can also cause lack of energy, motivation and depression?
Forum is still quiet, maybe people are struggling and don't like to put others off.
Carrying on very low carbing.
daska - spiralizer looks interesting so may delve further.
Have a good day0 -
Well I'm still soldiering on. Averaging 1.5 pounds a week so far giving a total of just over 1.5 stone lost in total. I'm now teetering on the edge of the NHS 'overweight' classification. I reckon another stone or so to go before I'll be happy (with my weight.)
I'm not expecting any loss this week though.Went out to a works do last night at an 'eat-until-your-eyes-pop-out' pan-asian food restaurant and, although I did keep off the carbs as far as possible, I ate waaaaaaaaay too much... just to get my money's worth.:p

I am still here too just been tricky to find a minute to post, both tots still a bit poorly.
So, I appear to have gained 4lb overnight. Here was my menu yesterday:
Burger patties for breakfast, drop of reduced sugar ketchup
Chicken breasts for lunch, with hm marinade of chilies and other such goodies
Cheese and ham snacks
Goulash type thing but with mince, to use some of the soured cream.
1 tea, 1 coffee, both with splash of cream, 1 small diet cola, 4 large glasses water.
I am, ahem, having the typical bathroom issue. Have since released some hostages (!) so maybe tomorrow weigh in will be more favourable.Bossymoo

That's the funniest euphemism for poo I've ever heard :rotfl:
Hmm.. you're eating quite a lot of protein but not a lot of fat. My GP told me around 58% of protein is converted to glucose, so maybe you should be thinking about eating more fat ?
I know that's easier said than done as we all grow up being brain-washed with the low fat mantra. You could try using more butter, lard and dripping to cook with and looking for the full fat versions of stuff.0 -
Hi
Very quiet on here at the moment. Maybe everyone is out enjoying the sunshine?
bossymoo- Edwardia is right but you also don't seem to be drinking enough water or eating enough salad / vegetables. On induction you should have 3 cups salad and 1 cup of vegetables each day plus 3 litres of water. Coffee and Coke can slow down loss due to caffeine and they dehydrate the body as well. I have problems in the same department but it used to be better when I was eating nuts. I hope that the tots are better soon.
Gloomendoom - one and a half stone is great. How is the missus?
Hope that we are all well.
Still keeping to induction
breakfast - half an avacado with soft cheese
lunch - mixed grill with salad

mazzers, sunnyday, schoolhouse, hannoja, Minihauk, nuttybabe, sistercas, raverminx, daska- how are you doing?0 -
Brill. Had salads today, full fat mayo, chicken and tuna (done in spicy coconut oil), and sneaked a little diabetic choc, just 2 little squares. Had a shopping delivery so now have eggs and butter, might do a cheese and pepperoni omelette for supper. I have had more water too, and only 1 tea today.
Am going to perfect my curry making I think, with lots of butter, spices and onions.
Also fancying cauliflower and broccoli cheese tomorrow. And will make up some more sf jelly with cream.
I think when I can add in a bit of bran and ground nuts and more butter for baking, the fats will naturally increase. Ooh, pât!! I might try making lc bread again, used to have it on Dukan, toast and spread with pât!...
Thanks for all the ideas, really appreciate it!Bossymoo

I would love to be losing consistently like that. First week i lost 11lbs and then second week i lost like 2lbs and this week looks to be a stay the samei love this way of eating but the first week does make you think the weight will come off quicker than on other diets. How long have you been doing low carb can i ask? Just want to know when my body will settle in a somewhat routine of losing weight?
This time around i am not going to get upset every time i dont lose weight, just gonna appreciate how much i have already lostMy one vice is a drink alot of diet drinks which i know could be the reason i am not losing weight this week but its better than a slice of bread. I was in a burger king with my friend today, i wasnt hungry so had a diet coke and my friend had a burger and fries and the fries actually looked revolting to me. Wasn't even tempted one bit. It was such a achievement for me to get to a stage where i have no desire for something carby  x

I lost 5 or 6 pounds in my first week, if I remember correctly. Then nothing for the next week, and then it settled down to around 1.5 pounds. I've been LC'ing since January.
Mrs G, on the other hand, has been eating the same low carb food as me and, if anything, is far stricter but she hasn't lost any weight worth mentioning. I don't think it suits everybody.
I have to say that I don't think I can keep on the LC diet forever. I really miss toast and marmalade, proper rice, and potatoes too much. The mere thought of cauliflower rice makes me want to heave now.0
