    Hi sistercas

If sweets are a problem could you get the sugar free ones? I have seen them in Lidl / Aldi. I know that they can stall some people but at least you won't put on weight:D

Are you sure about that? Sugar free doesn't necessarily mean carb free. I have a packet of sugar free Polos in my hand that have 99g of carbs in them per 100g of sweets.

Mrs G pointed it out after I'd scoffed half the packet. :(

If they are polyols eg sugar alcohols I don't think they are counted, but  they may have a laxative effect

Hmmmm... I've just done a bit of poking about on the web and I think I can see why polyols stall some people and I'm not convinced that the carbs in them can just be ignored.

    Good article here...

I have a couple of boiled free range eggs for breakfast most days and this morning I had blueberries mixed into natural cottage cheese - bad idea, could feel the sugar high - I thought berries were relatively low carb ? I tried them once before basically drowned in extra thick double cream and that spiked me too.

My body is so weird, it doesn't bat an eyelash at two scoops of clotted cream ice cream (11g) or a pear.

Sugar free sweets .. try Sainsburys (some branches have them) also if you have an independent sweet shop nearby. There's a definite laxative effect though !!

    Evening all, *waves*

sorry a lot of you are struggling right now. I know what its like when you kow what you should eat and want to stay on track but then somehow you end up eating something that you shouldnt and then its off the tracks we go. That's what i am worried about as i tend to be a all or nothing type of person.

Day 15th for me, so far ive lost 13lbs *woooooo* wish i had lost 1 more lb to make it a full stone but still extremely happy with my results so far :) Was fasting all day apart from diet drinks (i know bad for me but my one vice) and then came home to make some more chicken in creamy mushroom sauce with courgette chips. Yummmmmmm.

Not had anything sweet yet, but on lowcarbmegastore i saw they were selling thorntons no added sugar choc so checked out on thorntons website and they have a whole selection of no added sugar choc/sweets. Has anyone tried these? they are designed for diabetic people but they seem to be pretty low carb. Really tempted to get some but not just yet. Need to get to my 21 days cheatfree first :D. x

    Hiya

Been lurking a bit as even though been sticking to low carb for the main i have been eating choccy a lot! :( So still got 1/2 stone to lose to fit my clothes again.

But back on track today and even started up the exercise. 1/2 hour dog walk/jog and 20 mins intermediate zumba.

Asda do sugar free wurthers. I have some but not tried them yet.

I've tried the werthers, very nice :D

On the diet I've just finished you are limited to 4 sf sweets a day. I think that's pretty wise all things considered.

Boots also do a diabetic range, the milk chocolate isn't too bad...

But, my carb hit today has been tomatoes! I have been so busy we had a bolognese I made and froze a couple of weeks ago. I'm supposed to be on 20g but I think the tomatoes were half that! Yikes! One to remember.

I made a bolognese (type) sauce today as well. But no tomatoes because of the nightshade problem - I just used some home made bouillon (so I know it's grain/nightshade free) and some coconut aminos. Served it on top of courgette noodles. DS2 went absolutely mental when he saw it because he wanted pasta (he always wants pasta) and announced "I don't have cucumber in that", hit me and hid under the table (he is 'special'). Two mouthfuls later he was woolfing it down. :D

Nice to hear from you all, I feel that I am taking over the board sometimes

The reason that I suggested sugar free sweets is that I know that they aren't the best for you but, to break a habit, something is better than nothing and the carbs in the ones that I looked at weren't that high.

If you are new to low carbing then you will lose weight and that gives you the impetus to keep going. Further down the line, especially when the loss slows or stops, it takes real willpower to keep going and, if you have problems, it is easy to slip back to comfort eating :(

Nine months on I am trying anything to get the weight loss moving again but there are things that I miss so I try to find alternatives. Luckily, sweets aren't important to me but something sweet and nuts are. I intend to steer clear of nuts, 70% chocolate etc this week, which I have been having within my carb allowance, to see if it helps but it won't be easy.

focus888 - well done with you weight loss :T

sistercas - you can do it, bit by bit if necessary, because you know that it is worth it and you'll feel better :)

    schoolhouse - get well soon!

Gloomendoom - thanks for the advice and sorry about the polos.

    - good that you can find out what causes the problems , still trying to work this out myself.

bossymoo - how does the Atkins compare to the Dukan and , which do you find easier?

daska - always interested to read what you are eating as, when the diet is complicated by health issues, it makes it more difficult somehow.

nuttybabe - well done with the exercise:T

Big hugs to everyone who is struggling xx
