Right time to get busy, Alias - i got some cracking garden bits and bobs from the pound shop yesterday so well worth a peek if you have one close by. We have a nice garden centre too but the prices are
I got 20 'potting on' pots from Poundstretcher for 99p the other day. I should have got loads more but didn't for some reason, just wasn't thinking.
The garden centre was 10 for £2.00  but they had 20% off today and by the time I drove into town and paid the parking charges if I was to go back to Poundstretcher, it worked out at six and half.
However......the garden centre also had a buy one free breakfast thing going on.I had sausage, egg and bacon and mushrooms. Happy days.
I've got loads of baby mangetout, pod peas, cucs and toms to pot up today. Oh and some geraniums & petunias too. At least it will keep me off the couch.
focus...I take 5000ui of vit D and a bog standard multi vit every day. (Well, every day I remember to, that is.:rotfl:)

I havent read far back enough to read all about IF but can i ask are you not consuming any liquids during these fasting periods?
You can drink as much as you want! Some say you shouldn't have anything containing calories, ie. with milk, cream or sugar, but if these don't cause any problems with weightloss (if that's what you're after with IF), then on you go!!!
I've also read that our stomachs signal our brains at normal food o'clock time(s), whenever that is, ie if you eat at regular set times, then that's when you get hungry. So, by not eating at set times, after some time for adaption with IFing, your stomach-brain combo stops the hunger signals, and so stops cravings and rumbles and you can go for longer periods without eating!!O last question, is everyone on here taking multivitamins? can you recommend a good all round one that i can take to make up for any lack of nutrients etc.
I take multibionta 50+...'cos I am 50+ :rotfl:, but they do a variety and are multivits plus probiotics, which are good in aiding digestion, and vital in aiding our immune systems in protecting our health. Of course you can eat probiotics via food sources, but for me, this multivit is a good all-rounder that I've been taking for years.

i also used the olive oil and lemon juice instead of polish and that worked really well
succumbed to a HM choccy bun ( stress dont you know ) that DD1 had made to take to school , it was yummy had a flake on top and everything i couldnt resist

Question for you wise folk
(long timer lurker, occasional poster) I have been low carbing since end of Sept 2011, 2.5 stone lost so far (brief interlude over Xmas and New Year) and its suiting me just fine.
I have noticed very recently that my nails are very weak, splitting into layers and bendy, always used to be very strong
I take 5000ug vit d, 1000mg fish oil, general multivitamin, and calcium, magnesium and zinc supplements daily. I've also just started with coconoil, a tsp or 2 daily, in the last week.
Anything I should be taking or dropping from this do you think?
On the positive, my IBS has disappeared, heartburn is a memory, and blood pressure on the low side of healthy so I am a bit baffled by the nails, unless my hormones are acock (again!) I'm 41 sssssshhh...Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:0 -

Hi and well done on your loss so far:T
Had one mouthful of buttered bread and marmite, pinched it from my daughter, it was so nice!!!! ( 3 carbs)
My nails have changed since low carbing and have dark moons under the white tip + 2 toe nails are ridged and tough. Put it down to getting older but maybe there is something in it0 -
I've just tried to quote but the box is coming up blank.
Anyway, it's odd people are mentioning nails, last time I low carbed seriously, I had nail problems too. My toenails became ridged and seemed to separate from the nail bed.
I wonder if there is a link, seems a bit coincidental if not. :undecidedHerman - MP for all!0 -
Hi again everyone,
Just popped in to say i noticed yesterday the soup I made would be nice served as a bolognese sauce. I made a big pot full so what I did today was add 3 cut up frankfurters to it and it made it a bit more interesting for lunch.
for dinner tonight .....for a change from meat and veg, I am having sausage, egg and either mushrooms or tomatoes...yummy.
Hope everyone is well.0 -

I've not noticed my nails behaving peculiarly. If anything a high protein diet should improve nails, especially if a lot of dairy products are also being eaten.
The last time I noticed anything out of order was when in Australia over Christmas when they started growing at an alarming rate.
I mentioned to my sister in law, who is a nurse, and she told me that it was the vitamin D from the strong sunshine that was causing it.0 -

This is why I am finding it so baffling as I am taking a hefty vit d supplement, and eating more dairy than before, perhaps when the nail that's breaking easily now was originally formed, was when my diet was particularly bad, and its only now when its long enough that its manifested. Or I am just getting old!!
PS thank you Sheila, however your loss eclipses mine, you done amazing!Let's get ready to bumble! :rotfl:0
