Morning Peeps
bit dull outside here today, hope that it brightens up a bit, i need some sun
Edwardia - i`ve been using the grated cauli for a rice substitute and as i`m lazy i grate loads at once and portion it up to freeze and then microwave it lightly. This is definitely not the best option though. I'm sure that someone posted about lightly stir frying it in butter to keep the texture. TBH i can`t always be bothered with it either so more often than not i just do what Sheila does and pop more veg in the curry. When the last few bags are gone from the freezer then i won`t be grating any more.
Morning Sheila
I`ve just spent the last 30 mins or so looking for a lc bread recipe that doesn't contain any of the ingredients listed and haven't had much luckI got waylaid by all the other nice recipes
I did however find these http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/breads/r/lowcarbmuffins.htm Think that i may give them a whirl when i have time, i`m thinking small breadcake type sizes and not much sweetener so that they are savoury types and not sweet.
Hanno - Hope that it was the fridge and you`re all feeling better now. Good luck finging a new one.
I have a half shoulder of lamb cooking away in the remoska for later tonight when we will be having lamb kebabs green salad and feta. Not sure of the carb content for the pitta so will look later when i venture into the chest freezer. I'll probably need to save my cabs all day for just one.
Brekkie is the usual, bacon, mushrooms & buttered scramblies, not sure about dinner though just yet. I could happilly go without as i shall be busy but DH will moan as soon as he is hungry lol.
Think that i shall leave him in bed today as long as possible then he can have a late brekkie.
I`m off to feed the birdies and saw some wood up before walking the woofaloes, will be drilling some holes in walls later when it gets to a respectable time for the neighbours - i also need to prep some food for tomorrow when we are both at w*rk.
Have great lc days peeps
SD
EDIT - Cross posted with you alias - Morningto ya
Thanks sunny:T
I will have a go at the muffins tomorrow as I have to stay in. Might have a go at some other recipes as well.
mazzers, hannoja, sistercas how are you feeling? Good luck with the new jobs
narabanekeater- well done, you must be feeling great losing 3lb
Lost 2lb myself this week which is a miracle:j
Had a combined brunch out - 2 eggs, 2 bacon , 2 sausages, mushroom & tomato. Coffee with cream and water to drink. Feeling stuffed!!
Dinner - salmon with asparagus and mayonnaise. May make those almond muffins tonight as I am peckish.0 -
Sheila54 and Sunnyday thanks for the advice. I don't cook/buy anything that works out above 10g/serving or 10g/100g depending on what it is ie meal or product. I thought the rice would be much more than that for a tbsp. I think I may splurge on 2 tbsps once in a while as I have to low carb for health for life rather than weight loss so I deserve a treat now and again especially as I don't eat cake, biscuits or sweets.
Although I don't eat cakes I've been chucking out recipes which call for 1 tbsp plain flour or 1 tbsp breadcrumbs. Any kind person know what the carbs would be for those please ?
The fish stock might be whiffing in the thread a bit, but wait until Mrs G turns it into a fish veloute over a nice bit of sole, plaice or even dab..mmmm0 -

Evening peeps.
Felt a lot better this morning thankfully.. didnt want a sick day after just one day!!
Forgot to say i took 2000mg of vitC last night, always sees off a cold if you catch it before it takes hold and get a good nights sleep.
Did well today in staying the distance but didnt have a healthy meal sadly, will weigh tomorrow to see how i'm doing.
Edwardia  i have my curry/bolognaise/chilli over ribboned courgette lightly steamed/boiled, lovely and fresh tasting.
Alias, omg at that map :eek:0 -
Sistercas - We're all allowed to go off track occasionally, sounds a delicious detour!
Mazzers - great tip about the courgette, I have some chilli and thought it would be boring with just brocolli.
So I was very good today, went to my all day meeting, avoided the bacon rolls, pastry's at every break and for lunch I had them create a basic chicken salad so I would stay on track. I've then had a nice low carb dinner. Success. My willpower must be strong! I have a new challenge on Saturday - I'm going out to dinner at an indian. I don't want to just stick with Tikka as I love the sauces so can anybody recommend some lower carb options? I'm happy to avoid the rice and naans. Although the saag aloo will be more challenging!0 -

Indeed

Yes, it does make it seem more 'normal'. Tasty, and good for you too

Sounds like you're being very strong. Well done :T
On the curry front, not sure, but initial thoughts are Balti, Kebab, or Tandoori mixed grill...
I had an 'all you can eat' curry a couple of weeks back. Had plenty of the available curries, but only ate the sauce that came on each 'lump' that I took from my plate. Enjoyed it, was full, and had a good weight loss that week
Yesterday was good, although I tweaked the Paleo bread recipe and it was so scrummy I ended up eating 6 slices!! Dug around and found another of DM's posts where he said it was about 9 carbs. for the loaf, instead of 5 or 6.. I cut it into 17 little slices so that makes each one around 1/2 a carb.. Not too bad..
Still would like a definite carb count for it though)
B: 2 frankies 'n' a 'dash' of Heinz reduced sugar/salt ketchup (~3g)
L: Prawn cocktail and slice of warm lc bread* (~4g)
T: 2 bacon, 2 eggs 'n' mushrooms fry up with a couple of slices of lc bread: one toasted. (~6g)
O: Tea, coffee, s/f gum, 4 pints water, couple s/f Strepsils.. oh, and 3 slices of lc bread! (~3g)
Total carbs: ~16g
Exercise: 50 mins. dog walk, ~30 mins. Yoga0 -

Morning everyone:wave:
I went out for a curry recently and had coconut chicken curry and cauliflower paneer (with cheese). In a sauce but was told it was thickened with coconut and not flour
Please can you direct me to the recipe for the bread? I had trouble with the flax but think I'll try it again as I need to keep regular!
Breakfast - i scrambled egg, 1 rasher bacon , 1 ryvita with butter, cup decaff coffee - 8 carbs
Lunch - 2 low carb almond pancakes with raspberries and cream - 10 carbs
Dinner - out to Toby for carvery - meat and lots of low carb veg, say 6 carbs
Thanks
Hope everyone has a good day, that those unwell will feel better and those who are down will have fun!0 -

I made the paleo bread on Sunday and calculated it at 18.65 carbs for the loaf, using 150g almond and 300g flax. The eggs and oil count as 0 of course, and the baking powder is 3.8 for 3tsp.
The original recipe was for half that amount of mix, so DM's figure of 9 is about right.
I made mine into 6 mini loaves as I don't have a loaf tin, and I certainly can't manage a whole one of those, its very filling
Oh, and flax is very good at keeping you regular, so do be careful if you're having several slices!!0 -
Morning Peeps
didn`t have the salad last night so we will be having that later today, spent the whole afternoon finishing off the spare room as DH said his arm felt much better so he helped me lift the doors to put on the new wardrobes:j The room is now finished apart from a few minor things to do ie varnish the inside doorframe etc but that can wait as i`ve had enough of it now, i`ve wasted years trying to get everything perfect in the last house but am much more laid back about it these days. The next few weeks will see me spending half an hour or so each day sorting through bits and bobs as we move everything from the old wardrobes to the new.
Last night we went to the local pub for a mixed grill as a treat, very disappointing thoughWe've eaten there a few times and it been ok - nothing to write home about but decent enough but last night it was rubbish so next time we will try a different pub. Two pints of guinness for me and four for DH. I won't weigh for a couple of days until my bod adjusts
Brekkie today is bacon, mushrooms & buttered scramblies, dinner will be a ham salad sandwich on lc bread and tea is the green salad with feta and a couple of cherry toms with lots of hot roast lamb in a pitta. Also got some berries and double cream for later too
Yesterday was the usual for brekkie but no dinner as we were busy, tae was the afore mentioned mixed grill and DH had a bag of nuts around dinnertime. Didn`t get any of the usual "I`m starving" comments yesterday either so i assume that his bod is adjusting ok, i didn`t ask as it would just make him think about food
Blood tests for DH later today - not sure how long it will be until the results are through but at least everything seems to be running smoothly enough atm.
Nara & sheila - Well done on your loss:j:j
 just realised the time!
Have a great day Peeps
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
