Sheila - Do you have a local freecycle group nearby?
You could ask on there for an exercise bike, either ask for one or wait to see if one is offered.
Might be an idea to try it before you pay out any hard earned cash for one. I tried one a while back but just ended up with creaky knees :rotfl: so it wasn`t for me. Mine was an old cast off from a relative so i`m glad that it didn`t cost me anything. Freecycle didn`t exist then so when it came to free up the space that it was taking up i left it outside the house overnight before we moved and it got pinched :rotfl:
If it works for you then get a nice shiny new one
Good luck.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
i can actually go all day without food when i`m not on any type of diet and then once i actually have even a tiny nibble of something the floodgates open and i eat and eat and eat :rotfl:
I know EXACTLY where you're coming from!!!LOLI seem to remember reading a while back somewhere on the boards - maybe even on this thread about someone else talking about this one meal per day thing and fasting for the rest of the time. It might have been Eric Pisch although i`m not sure if he actually tried it or just wrote about it.
This is what I do!! It's called IFing - Intermitant Fasting, and comes in various "flavours", ie varied eating "windows". Some people eat within a 5 hour window:-
http://www.fast-5.com/
some with shorter/longer windows. There's loads of information about IFing on the www to check out.i think that my bod gets used to this woe and then thinks "right i`m not parting with any more weight" and hangs on to it.to it. If i can confuse it then it may work in my favour *fingers crossed* I do like planning ahead and routine as i need to be organised but if i can confuse my system into dumping some more weight i`ll be happyI think that i`m going to try random days here and there so that i can fool my system without getting into a routine, i won`t go carb barmy on the days but will relax and have maybe one carby meal like pasta
I think that confusing one's body is a VERY good idea!! Our ancestors could never guarentee when they'd come across their next meal, went hunting for food driven ONLY by hunger...unlike people nowadays, who when they have an "oh I think I fancy a bit of chocky, a biscuit, a whatever etc" moment, can satisfy it instantly....and I'm not talking about people in the world who are suffering famine and starvation!
Well physiologically, how our bodies behave/work is EXACTLY the same as pre-Neolithic ancestors, and uses, stores, reglates the energy we take in daily. They didn't eat at regular hours, with regular amounts of calories, carbs fats etc.. There was not set pattern, but it worked, or we wouldn't be here today! :rotfl:
It's the same as why exercise startsto failyou if you keep to the same routine regularly...it stops giving you the results it may have given you when you started it. So, IMHO it's the same with food, especially with reguards to the amount of food , it's maconutrient (protein, fats and carbs) content, etc.
So....sorry for the long-windedness of this post!!......I think that it's really good to shake things up, and I also think...and what I've found...that over time you lose the taste for the things that you used to love, even when you give in to them, they just stop tasting as good as they did!!!

Good advice but I bought a second hand one before and it has been nothing but trouble so I have to ditch it. I have only lost 3lb this year so I have to try something!!
Good luck.

Low carb almond pancakes for dinner with berries (thawed) and cream - was dubious but, apart from being a bit eggy, they taste really yummy.0 -
Hi Sunny , Hi Sheila , Hi Everyone ,
I'm still here, but have been busy at w*rk, so haven't had time to post much.
I managed to lose the lb I put on, but no more yet, and I'm off to the carvery in a few minutes for dinner.
Things are ok, and I haven't been tempted by carbs recently, I suppose I'm just eating too much of everything - sometimes I don't feel hungry, but still eat, soI should listen to my body, too.
Interesting about different timings and ways of eating.
Does anyone know what happened to Eric Pisch? He wss very often on here, but haven't seen him around for a while.
Anyway, off out now. Have a good evening all.0 -

Strange but my GP sent me for a thyroid test and I have to repeat it again in 3 months, suggesting that there may be a problem.0 -

Great! Thank you so much - If I ever go I have the same thing every time so never really looked at the rest of the menu. Woohoo!
Me too, nice one sheila.
SD, i'm stressy and more productive without food too, i'm sluggish when i've eaten, i'm the opposite to you tho, dont think about food much in work and am happy with a little meal but i will eat all day long at home.
Seriously, when i'm not dieting, i just want to shove something in my gob all the time, cant watch tv, read or anything without scoffing, but once i start dieting, and only eating when i'm hungry, i hardly think about food.. it's like i change my mindset.
Unfortunately, it doesn't last!!
I like the sound of that crazy cat
I tried the IF, found it surprisingly easy as was already lc-ing, didnt find it very good tho, maybe i shoulda given it longer.
Sis i can easily do five mins on the cross trainer
Honestly, i just cannot stay on it, sooo boring.0 -
All the talk of cooking has rubbed off on me. Was in the kitchen for ages tonight. Most unlike me! Was making [STRIKE]a mess[/STRIKE] pancakes: theirs and mine. Mine were a little odd, but quite nice, and amazingly filling!
Also made cereal 'bars'/flapjack for the boys' lunch boxes for the week. I add random stuff to the oats; such as raisins/currants/sultanas, seeds, left over cereal (those powdered bits in the bottom of the bag/box), bran, bits of dried fruit, coconut, etc..
Finally got round to making Mercy's Mexican fudge. Interesting. Tasted a little whilst hot. Rather nice. Curious to see what it will be like when cool..
Might add a picture if my phone ever stops recharging
Here we go:Hannoja - you are great doing all that exercise but where do you find the time?
I suppose I make time at the expense of other things one might say I should be doing
The thing is, I've become antisocial, introverted, ridiculously self conscious, low confidence, poor self esteem, etc. etc..
I feel that being selfish and making it a priority to look/feel better will have a postitive affect not only on me, but also on my family: me: my life: our life.
I see an improvement already: less embarassed to be seen acting the fool with my kids in public, running around, etc.. Have more energy and feel brighter, stronger and better (not constantly but more than before), more able to cope with some of life's upsets than I have been..
It's not an effort any more either. It's something I look forward to now
Sorry, rambling...
P.S: Oh yeah, Mazzers just reminded me about your crazy little cat Sunny. Made me laugh reading about it. I like your phrasing. Put a nice grin on my face (well, not sure it was nice, but it felt nice hehe)0 -
I think I might be going senile. I managed to forget to get anything for lunch today while I was shopping yesterday so I ended up taking a lunchbox of salad leaves and a bit of grated cheese:o I shot into the Co-op at lunchtime and grabbed a Matteson's smoked sausage 0g per 100g:D and a jar of own brand mayo 1.7g per 100g and mixed it all up. Not half bad actually.
Then this evening I was at DD's sitting her 3 while she is at college and her OH is on lates, and I had my food ready in the fridge to take with me, and left it behind:mad: She had made a chicken korma with all manner of naughtiness in it so I made myself a cheese omelette with what little she had in her fridge. I do feel quite proud of myself actually cos my littlest GD only wanted some toast for her tea and it smelled and looked so tempting. Thank goodness she ate it all or I might have had her leftovers.
So against all the odds I have had a very LC day:j
Oh, and I went into H&B today and got some ground flax seed. What I'm going to do with it I'm not sure:o0
