hi.gifSorry for the recent interruption to broadcast services. This was due to OH's net connection chez office going awol again at his busiest time of the month, leaving yours truly whistling in the background, chewing her nails, and suffering from internet deprivation... So swear1.gifto one branch of beardy internet services and pi_heartbeating.gif to the other branch which has been truly overworked this past week.

As a result of this, OH has taken the decision to move his office to home, which is great as it will save loads of money and we have plenty of space. However...and isn't there always an "however"...this means that we need to clear out our upstairs sitting room ready for the man to call and make internet connections via a new phone line. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but the room is currently hosting a strangely dense mass of items from all over the rest of the house, which have been placed there to enable painting and plastering of other rooms. help2.gif I guess this means an eBay, freecycle and recycling centre blitz on all those things that I know we really don't want, but still seem to keep. For example, I think it's probably time that the Lego moved on, and my spinning top (second birthday present), and a useless slow cooker (Australian wiring)... And all by 21st August.
cheerleader.gifTo auntie makeup's new baby niece. Hope it isn't too windy without those tent pegs down in Cornwall. I love the laissez faire attitude to camping - reckon it's the only way.

cheerleader.gif To SBC on that degree, and being so close to mortgage freedom. And to Dex as well for starting off on the Masters. I did the OU MBA, but fortunately work paid for half of it, or I'd never have coped. Those magic three letters "TMA" still strike dread into my heart though (assignments - always managed to be crammed into the smallest possible amount of hours nearest the deadline and then driven to the tutor's house - if you are me). I didn't realise that Tesco vouchers could be used now - what a brilliant idea.

grrr.gif What a week, Sarah! I hope the karmic law furnishes a very nice M&S flight bag (drool) after all that. Hope that scald is healing ok, and that the car turns out to be at the cheaper end of the spectrum.

cheers.gif To Dan on the offer of matched betting help. I had been so focused on the first home match being next week, that I had completely forgotten that the rest of the season starts today. I need to fish out my notes and do some dummy runs to check if I have my head together. Sorry I've not been around, Gwen, but I should be ok this week - OH now has no work at all until Friday, so I can prise him off the computer. Are you up for it too, nicnacnoo (sorry, couldn't resist ;))?

Lula - I too am ENTP on the personality testing - attracted by bright, shiny new things, then off onto something else exciting before finishing what I started. ;):D

Hi to everyone else. Hope you are all having a good weekend.

No rush, the football season goes on for ages :)

Dummy runs are a good idea - if you want to post the figures you get from the spreadsheet I can double-check them to make sure you're on the right track.

    Thanks Hollyberry

I wish it was a degree, just a Certificate in Business Studies so far. I'm choosing my units so that I can progress through Certificate, Diploma, Foundation Degree & then top up to the full Honours Degree.

Can't do that with the eTMA's any more, they have to be uploaded online by the deadline & your submission is automatically time stamped.

Agree about the Clubcard vouchers, they definitely take some of the sting out if you have to pay for yourself. I was hoping to pay about ¼ of the course fees that way but after putting it all through a spreadsheet this morning I'll be lucky to manage ⅛.

Ah, but that would have allowed me the time taken to drive to the tutor's place and stick the TMA through their letterbox (up to an hour) to actually finish it off and upload it. ;) Call me the "just-in-time" school of management.

My books and materials are probably a bit prehistoric by now, but if there's anything that might be useful to you (even if only to say that you are never doing that particular module), I'd be happy to send it on to you. I think some of them are in that sitting room I need to clear by 21 August... Let me know if it could be any help.

Will do - and thanks. :D

Yes please. If the amount of stuff for a level 1 course is anything to go by posting that amount of stuff could be quite expensive so I'm happy to pay for the postage.

    Hello all,

& welcome to Dan29, I really wish I could get my head round the MB ... but am wise enough to realise that I would need to give up housechores, work & probably parenting too in order to succeed. Someone else mentioned it a while back & I have read donglemouse's thread & am awed at the success possible :D

Sarah - so sorry to hear about your rubbish week :grouphug: Lulas Karmic Law insists that you see if M&S has anything else that may soothe your scald & frazzled nerves as well as luggage ;)

I hate to say it but it sounds as though your car may have reached the point of no further financial viability :( My last one certainly exceeded this point .

I will have a good ferret over the next few days as we're tidying and PM you with a list of what I've found, then you can let me know what, if anything, would be useful. I should still have most of the diploma course, as that used to be the same as the foundation year of the MBA (called "The Competent Manager" in my day). While the relative trendiness of management theories seems to ebb and flow, the marketing/financial management/HR seems to be much the same as it ever was. I'd be delighted if you can get some use out of it.

    AAAAARGH I'm panicking :(

I've only got two weeks left in Oz and a whole shedload of things to organise before I go. Most of it needs to be done in the next 2-3 days.

I really don't want to, I just want to curl up in bed and ignore it all. Nothing I have to do is very stressful but I've been hiding from it for ages now. Head-in-sand syndrome methinks :(
