Whoah! :T I found 2 units at the same time tough at undergrad level.
How close are you to finishing your masters?
I know what you mean about the money though. I'm paying for it myself as well & the next units are £825 & £2425.
I'm basically trying to get all shopping/petrol/birthday & christmas presents etc from Tesco's for the OU vouchers on the clubcard deals, asking people to give me OU vouchers as birthday/christmas presents etc. I even booked rooms without breakfast while I've been working away if there was a Tesco's nearby so I could use the cafe & get clubcard points.:o
Have you looked at the finance assistance packages on the OU site? I'm on a reasonable wage now & am still entitled to some money back on the fees.
Hi SBC,
I just assumed that I couldn't get any money so will def have a look thank you. I've done 4 subjects, there are 8 in total plus dissertation, I need about £8,000 to complete it:eek:
I love doing it though (there are times usually before coursework is due when I don't) but I get a hug amount of satisfaction out of it.
My folks offered to give me there tesco vouchers so I could use them, about £500 ou value total but I felt bad accepting them...
Maybe one day, maybe the economy will sort it's self out and work will pay for it again - doubt it though :rolleyes:1 debt vs 100 days part 6-11total paid £8,135.86 Final Debt [STRIKE]6,948.61[/STRIKE] £3,174.940 -
I wish I could pay for my degree with Tesco vouchers! I'm very lucky that I took a GAP year so I'm on the old fees, just 1200 quid a year. Still going to owe the government at least 20,000 by the time I finish. Let alone my overdrafts etc...The size of a glory hole in an open pit should not be greater than the cross-section of the haul trucks that dump into it. If you don't think you're going able to complete it then have you thought about assigning your units to a PostGrad Certificate or Diploma?0 -
I have and If I end up paying for it myself, I will def stop at the post grad diploma. But it wont be this year as I have too mcuh other stuff on, but in 2010 when I've paid of my debts (cause I will) I will start to save towards it1 debt vs 100 days part 6-11total paid £8,135.86 Final Debt [STRIKE]6,948.61[/STRIKE] £3,174.940

I spent close to that on Technical Certifications alone just trying to keep up with the IT Industry. Hence the change of subject when deciding to do a degree.
Clubcard vouchers will offset about a quarter of the cost at most.0 -
Hmmmm think I have degree envy :rotfl:
I did start an OU one & loved the first year & did really well, the second year was just dire turgid rubbish. Far too rigid for me I'm afraid, I like to write an essay in my style not somebody elses 'framework'.
Actually I did a personality test yesterday & turns out I'm an 'ENTP Originator' type which basically means I'm full of brilliant ideas which then quickly get usurped by my next load of brilliant ideas .
I've been 'shopping' for wallpaper samples again todayI love it, so much fun. I took my friend with me & we even had a fake bicker about which ones we liked just to make it authentic
.
Bowski- I can believe it either about DDs birthday - again. Just show how long I've been hanging out here, chatting & not doing an awful lot of debt busting. No way am I doing a multiple sleepover again, she can just have her bessfriend over & then I'll take them to a theme park for the day at the weekend. Think you may be right about giving her more freedom. I do believe in it & that it gives kids the chance to use their instincts & suss out who's safe & who's not. I certainly dont intend to ferry her to secondary school & back when she's 12 & promised her she can walk up to school on her own from September. It's the idiot parents driving & parking that's put me off so far, not her ability to cross the road safely.
I did the leaving the front door open trick the other day as well. We were out for about 2 hours but we often go in the garden & leave it open & there are always neighbours coming & gong so it's probably quite safe. I also went to go out one morning & couldnt find my front door keys ... turns out they'd spent the night in the front door . I am so rubbish at stuff like that.
Gotta get on now ...

I can't remember the amount of times I've done that! I even has a nice lady knock on my door a couple of weeks back to tell me:p1 debt vs 100 days part 6-11total paid £8,135.86 Final Debt [STRIKE]6,948.61[/STRIKE] £3,174.940 -

My friend is the worlds worst for leaving her keys in the door, or is she hasn't left them in the door she;s lost them and if it's not her keys it's her purse!
Lula.. you have done plenty of debt busting aswell and chatting & entertaining...just look at your sig!!!!
Oh god the thought of my DD going to secondary school scares the living daylights out of me, I actually feel sick just thinking about it_pale_
For DD's birthday she's having a dancemat party, my Mam's already said she'll pay it. I just have to do the food and do the party bags, I've already bought a few bits for the bags. She normally just has a sleepover but I thought this was kind of her last chance to have a proper party _party_
By the way I made a start on your diary today at last :j I only got upto page 2 though but I will finish it next week when I have my diary-a-thon!
