Thank goodness:j I could possibly manage a month at £100 but I suspect any thread along that lines would not be seen as moneysaving. :D

hi.gifThe house at the moment is like one of those slidey puzzles you used to have when you were a kid. In order to make the letters into a word, you need to move everything around in sequence...which is why we are starting on the top floor to make room for stuff from the first floor, which will eventually clear our sitting room by the 21st. I guess this is also counting as exercise, which goes someway to excuse the large slice of cake and bowl of strawberries I have just consumed... pig.gif

makeup - It sounds as though that was a mighty chilly night in the tent: I am imagining you something like this... snowglobefrosty.gif Seems like you still had a great weekend, and I hope you are treating yourself to a proper Cornish (or even Devon, but then I'm biased) cream tea now you are back.

    .

I know I need to get a cream tea!!! I was contemplating picking up some clotted cream while I was away but that is so not something I need right now!!! and the tent wasn't quite as bad as the snowdome........

As I sit here sedately sipping my wine I am so glad that I no longer have to get dressed & made up like a ho & stagger the streets on a friday & saturday night with no thought for my personal safety or dignity; unlike the females of Oldham as per the Panorama doc just on. Ok, I know that Panorama is like the Daily Mail of tv land but it happens everywhere & I actually find it really really tragic that that's the best entertainment that people can come up with.

    .

I know what you mean Lula, but one of my friends was criticising some 'binge drinking teenagers' that were on TV last week and I couldn't believe it. When we were at Uni, we were shocking and I can't believe now how much I used to drink. My friend seems to have blocked it from her mind and now thinks we weren't that bad.

However I see it from the other side now, some nights I'm out and you see really drunk girls on the street and it seems really horrible...... and it is worse to know that I was like that once.......(I didn't dress in a skimpy way though....I was more baggy t-shirt!)

If I am to ever get rid of these debts then i need to make my life alot harsher.

Surely this is to your credit lula?? I mean I know you're going on an overseas hol but your Gran gifted you the flights and aren't you staying at a relatives place??? And you've budgetted and saved for the spending money. Pretty sensible if you ask me??

And I don't think being cold and hungry is a pre-requisite for clearing debts :eek:

And you painted your flat with paint from 2002 and bought a picture frame for 60p from a charity shop....all sounds very MSE / DFW to me??:confused:

And as you know Lula, this is the thread where we have lives as well as debt-busting. Kinda essential if you ask me....
I've got my own flat :j:j

Now I have to pay the bills

And feed my interiors addiction ;)

I'd be Mme Cholet - just love the way it sounds.... (and need to do some slidey puzzle stuff in my flat too.)

Thank you :A, what works best for me though is paying the minimum off the CCs so that I can have a life . Like you I suffer from income fluctuations which makes it so hard to budget efficiently & more to the point effectively, if I have a rubbish week I have to borrow from funds, then a good week comes along & rather than replace the borrowed funds I tend to 'treat myself' as I tell myself that I have 'spare money' :o

Will have a re-think in the cold & sober light of day ...

    night night

Dan, I have read the matched betting info several times and it makes absolutely no sense to me:o In fact it makes me feel quite dim. :o Is there an idiot's guide and also I am a member of a few betting sites even though I don't use them as I joined through casback sites, does that mean I can't do it as I think it involves joining sites to get the cashback to start with and I've done that already.

ive been reading the matched betting Step one bit, read it 3 times so far and do you know what?, its starting to sink in! Gonna give it a good go next week tho cos me and Bowski are off camping Friday and i might have forgotten it all by Monday! (must buy a dongle so i can take the laptop camping with me!):rotfl:

Hi Sarah, is it definitely the thread in the following link that you've looked at? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=325861

Don't worry, there are lots more bookies out there even if you've signed up for a few :)

    Hiya All,
Lula you ain't a fat old trout, none of us are, where would we be without you on this thread.
I've decided i spend too much on food, and I should be doing more with my veg from the garden so tonight I'm making sheperd's pie, hopefully by the end of the week I will have eaten loads of lettuce as well cos I've too much of it.
Dan I've printed the matched betting thread so hopefully it will start to sink in and I will start to get my head round it.
It isn't all financial rehabilitation it's creative thinking as well, I'm beginging to realise I'm getting better with money and picking up loads of tips does help, I'm going to become better aquainted with stardrops, cos they rave about it on OS boards.

...I only got upto page 2 though but I will finish it next week when I have my diary-a-thon!

CaroleM... I got that book too but haven't read it yet, everyone's given it a good review so I'm looking forward to reading it. Where are you off on your holidays?

Peru, for 3 weeks, cant wait! I fly tomorrow, getting jittery already!

The book is brilliant, I lent it to a friend and she txt me in the middle of the night to tell me she had an epiphany because of it....am assuming thats a good thing!
