I have to admit that's one thing that winds me up a bit. If you're single you have to factor in a life. If you have a partner, I imagine (coupled up folks, correct me if I'm wrong) you can not go out so much because you'll still have company. You can go for picnics and do other fun, free things. If you're single and you don't go out and do stuff, you go crazy and you look a bit daft having a picnic on your own. I'm not explaining myself v.well, but the jist of it is I think it's harder if you're single, because if you don't go out, you don't see or meet people.
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

That makes total sense to me. I sometimes still go to Nando's on my own and like to do other stuff alone.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I don't mind doing stuff on my own. I've been known to go to the cinema on my own (ok, only twice). I do quite like my own company and can occupy myself, but sometimes you need to see/speak to other people and that almost always involves going out and spending money if you're single.

I have been to the cinema by myself only once. It just felt odd.:o It's silly though, I would never think that about the people I see there by themselves. Can do galleries and museums and cafes by myself though. :D

I do agree about the married people, although I'm sure they will be along to correct us if we are wrong.:D You don't have to go out all the time because there is someone there and you can do couply things like going on holiday together or just going or a walk, I wouldn't feel safe here doing it by myself. When you are single you do have to make more of an effort to meet people and it often involves going out and when you add taxi fares, drinks/meal prices it does add up. Much less expensive to get a bottle of wine and cook a meal and stay in with someone. I do think having a partner would be cheaper than being single. icon8.gif Just another reason why being single annoys me.

Exactly how I feel. Life would be much cheaper if I had a partner.

That's better - had some chilli. Not the best meal choice in this weather so I'm cooling down with a Cadbury's Caramel ice cream. Eeek. Was eating so healthily today.

Well done on returning the underwear Pink. I've just returned some stuff tonight. I tend to buy stuff quite impulsively, then when I get it home, I try it on and think about it a bit and usually if I don't love it and realistically won't get much wear out of it, it goes back. But I need to get home before I can start thinking like that. It does result in a lot of wasted trips to the shops (and in all likelihood, the assistants rolling their eyes when I go in), but it just seems to be the way I do it. If I don't do that, I'd end up spending tonnes. It seems to satisfy my curiousity about an item and then I can be realistic.

I agree with Sarah though, avoiding temptation is the way to go. When I used to work in a city, I came back after lunch with bags almost every day (and a sandwich/salad, drink and snack from M&S :o ). I was well known for it. The whole office would go 'oohh, what have you bought today?' when I got back. How bad is that? I know you probably can't avoid working in town if you do, but maybe go to a park at lunchtime instead of the shops.

I don't know if any of this helps you, but I'm just saying what has helped me. Having a proper hobby has also helped. I'd usually rather spend my money on that than clothes/shoes (although I can always be tempted). Find something you love to do that's hopefully not mega expensive to fill your time and you might find yourself wanting to spend your time and money doing that.

That is amazing. Make the most of it :) Are you a tennis fan?

Yes, I have to make the most of it. My mate was incredibly lucky, like I said she is v.jammy. I didn't know how much the tickets were worth though, so I checked ebay. !!!!!!!g hell. I told her how much they were going for and begged her not to sell them!! I'm just hoping I won't be too tired after Take That on Saturday night.

Through school and Uni I spend many a summer sat on the sofa watching pretty much every match of Wimbledon, but it's harder to keep track now. Damn work...getting in the way of my life. I'm hoping Murray will be in the final. In fact, I'm hoping he wins. I just think it would be amazing to be at the final, esp. if a Brit won!

I'm back, I had a meltdown and got some things straightened out, talked to my dad for 2 hours about basically my spending.

Sounds like everyone is going to have nice feet on here. :D

Morning all - my that was a sticky and thundery night! :D

Pink - Hope the meltdown was therapeutic, and that you are feeling better for it. I reckon it's always a difficult balance to achieve between berating myself about unnecessary spends, so I won't do it again, versus accepting that sometimes it just happens, and moving on.

Sarah - :j to the possibility of a new job and less stress. :j I love the thought that you are considering other possibilities, and will have my paws crossed for you, whatever happens.

makeup - :T to the MBTs. You did absolutely the right thing, and I hope you are wiggling well in them. Sounds as though you will need all the agility you can muster for the use of the yoga-position-challenging bathroom.

Yoyo, Ann is currently cooking for me :D A very DFW meal as it's entirely composed of food I was given by people who moved out of my building :D

Hope you're all having a lot of luck with the DFW mission :D
