I've had a really bizarre day.
Work was fine and normal if not a little dull but still....
Then I got home to discover our bathroom has been reconfigured in a truly bizarre fashion, with the bath right on top of the toilet so that you can either sit 'side saddle' on the loo or else have to do gymnastics to use the facilities.....
The background to this is that we have a pretty strange bathroom to begin with. The sink and toilet are in the 'main' part and then the bath was in a kind of cubicle at the back. The bath itself was level with the floor so you had to step down into it. It was a pain for cleaning but apart from that ok - if a little amusing for our guests (it also had swirly blue tiles w hich I have come to love)
Last night I returned to find out that my flatmate had managed to put his foot through a row of tiles that formed a ledge along one side of the bath (it wasn't flush with the wall). Water had got behind them and rotted the wood away. He had a nasty cut on his foot and we had a very dodgy looking bath.
Our landlady was intending to sort out our bathroom anyway (:j) so this has brought the plans forward.
I'm not entirely sure why the bath had to be put there right away but I'm hoping this situation is resolved asap!
I'm not clear either if the new bath is properly plumbed in
I have been meaning to go swimming before work for a while and now it seems like the perfect time to start!
Then to make things even more bizarre with my evening, I went to my tap class. My teacher had a pair of MBT shoes that her neighbour had asked her to try and sell for a tenner (fancy shoes that make you fit while you walk and sort out back problems etc - normal retail price £120 ish)
I asked her about them and tried them on. Meanwhile the class crazy came over and tried on the other one and made a really big fuss about wanting them. She was begging me to let her have them, really tried the emotional blackmail and was getting really desperate over it. I was so uncomfortable, just not my thing at all. The teacher backed me up though and said I should have them as I asked first but the woman still went on and one, she was wailing 'how can I miss out by one person' and other stuff.
It was awful and I was so close to giving in, but really I hadn't got them by underhand means or anything and I've been looking at MBT's for ages and trying to justify the cost of them.
I hope everyone else's Monday is a little less crazy!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Pink, don't be so hard on yourself. £1002 is a fab amount to pay off your debts.
With regard to the shopping can you / do you want to take any of it back? Maybe if you haven't watched the DVDs you can return them? Or maybe you don't want to?
£200 is tight for a month but would just about be doable if you are super tight on things. For example hunting down those people who spend £20 per week on food and things in Oldstyle board. For example do you have stuff in cupboards /freezer that you can make meals out of.
I think it would be very tight and hard and there would be no leeway for a coffee at work or a lunch out or that kind of thing. But it is possible!!
and a huge  for doing so well this month. I know you didn't hit your target but I think you have pretty high standards!!
Well, I've just taken back the underwear, so got £30 back, I didn't even really like it that much, story of my life. The dvd's I can't as I've bought them off ebay and the jeans and top I have worn.
I even spent £15 getting my car valeted today. What is wrong with me?
I've got myself down using the snowball calculator. If I pay £850 a month it will take me 30 months to clear my debts, that's 30 months living at my dad's. I'll be almost 35 and really need a new car. I've stuffed up.
I don't have it in me to be super-tight, I like wine and chocolate.0 -
That definitely is a bit bizarre. At least psycho girl didnt try snatching them off you!0

Pink I haven't got time to reply meant to marking - you sound exactly like me!
when I have done with work I shal come back and discuss the random spending (ugh)
meanwhile many hugs xxxxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Pink, £1002 is a fantastic payment, you should be really proud of yourself.:jDon't worry about being at your dad's for the next 3 years, you can't say with certainty that that will be the case, you never know what is round the corner.
Makeup, the tap class lady sounds bonkersWhat an awkward situation to be in, well done for not giving in and £10 is a brilliant bargain:j
TDQ, hope you enjoy your friend's visit:beer:
Well, have had a reasonably good day, I have decided to apply for a new job:jIt is much better pay, better hours and less stress, I won't find out until October thoughand it will involve some extra training but the pay rise will make it worth it. I think I have a good chance but I don't want to start thinking about the money side of things until I am more sure. I am very excited about it though. :j:j:j I need a change.
I popped to the shops after work:o as I was reading about the Starbucks card where you get vouchers and freebies etc and it closes tomorrow so went to pick up a card and will register it later. If I am going to pop in there now and again, which I know I will, I may as well try to make it a bit more MSE:D
Also went to Boots and bought a pink ped egg with my points, so techincally free:jStill have £60 worth of points left.:D
So, for today:- coins in piggy
- £2 coin in pot
- free coffee and cake in work
- took snacks to work
- updated spreadsheet
- used Boots points for ped egg
- got Starbucks card which should get me some freebies
- checked quidco
- 5p piggy click
- have got some extra work for this week

Well done for returning the underwear.
Don't worry about the rest. At least you have worn the jeans and top so you must like those and sounds like you are getting use out of them!
And SATC DVD's are a good investment. You can dip in and out whenever and if you are ever sick or hungover you can have a marathon. I love my box set and have never regretted owning them!!!!
30 months isn't too bad. And you've based that on paying back £850 per month. This month you overpaid by £150 so if you manage to do that a few months you may be able to reduce the time taken even more.
I'm so with you on the wine and chocolate. I always used to make plans that I was going to live off beans and toast and only drink tap water in the pub and stuff like that and then end up blowing my whole budget in an evening out.
The advice that works for me and is a bit depressing but I don't go shopping unless I'm looking for something specific. A lot of shops have sales on at the moment and normally I'd be in there like a flash checking out what was on sale and picking up a few bits. But the reality is that I don't need new clothes, I could do with a new pair of jeans so I've ordered a few from Simply Be in their sale (online / catalogue store) but I won't be popping into the other shops like usual.
Luckily (??) for me I don't work in a town centre so the temptation isn't there and I don't often go near the shops on the weekend unless I make a specific journey to them.
Try not to be too hard on yourself - think of your old ways - would you have returned an underwear set to get back the £30 because you knew you didn't like it that much? Would you have had £1k left at the end of the month? You probably wouldn't / didn't and now you do!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Thanks!
It was especially surreal as the improvers class had started so this was all played out to a back-drop of tap-dancers. Kind of like a chorus line all watching this happen.........
Hoorah for free ped egg. I have one and I like it a lot although I don't find the thing catches everything or maybe I don't use it properly. Feet are lovely and soft though!I've got my own flat :j:j

Still marking and skim reading, Make up you life sounds excellent, crazy ladies at classes and an not well positioned toilet!
and everything you said to Pink was excellent xxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Hi!
Just dropping in. Not had any tea yet, so got to get something. Went shopping tonight (well mainly to return stuff). Returned my stuff and was tempted by a pair of work shoes in Dune. I would have worn them and I could do with a new pair, but they were still 42 pounds and scuffed. I'm not paying 42 quid for a pair of scuffed shoes, so I resisted. Now watching tennis and getting v.excited!
Back in a bit to catch up.
GwenThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

Me too.:o Am always full of brilliant plans, will take lunch to work, only eat homecooked meals a la Old Style Thread, no takeaways, not use car unless strictly necessary, no wine, no clothes, no shoes etc etc. I will have loads left over at the end of the month to add to savings. Hmmm. Just cannot do it. Too difficult and too boring.
I was thinking about the job I am applying for earlier, doing lots of sums in my head, thinking how much I could save up. It was a good amount. Then I realised I had forgotten to factor in my life.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0
