Single and in Debt Part II

Cut them up if it helps. Don't think - I must have 35k in the next ... years, that'd scare the carp out of anyone. Take small steps. Can you reduce your outgoings at all or is there no leeway?
I spent the beginning of this year with my head firmly in the sand. Stressing about my debt, yet not doing anything about it and just thinking I need Xk saved by the end of this year. It was way too scary and still is if I think about it like that. At the moment, I'm trying to do something/anything every day to reduce my debt. Any little changes count. Buying Tesco value kitchen roll instead of Bounty is a step and I feel proud of myself for all of them. Just make little changes/steps, don't terrify yourself with massive numbers. If I think about things like that I get that feeling when you're having a nightmare, there's car coming towards you and your feet won't move. It doesn't help you, you just freeze with fear, so don't scare yourself.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -
Gwen is right Pink, if the figures are scaring you, ignore them. Sort out your immediate problem by calling the bank, cut the cards up as soon as you are paid and then regroup.
Plus, a lot can happen in the next 8 years, you have no idea what is just around the corner.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -
Ok, have tea and cake now. Have done washing up and needed to do that. I used to be the kind of person that did things that needed to be done. Now I've turned into a person that talks about things and doesn't do them.
I've cut all the cards up except the Abbey one. I'll scrape through the next 10 days. Then that one is going.
I will pay off as you say the biggest interest rate one (Lloyds TSB 5540 at about 24%, pigs wouldn't lower the interest rate when I phoned them last week). Will pay about £800 to that one.
Oh why did I buy a leasehold flat in England? Watch out for that one, that is the biggest scam around.
You are all right though, I need to cut up the cards and not think about big numbers, instead just get on with it.
I need to start sitting and passing more exams. I need to clear my debts. No, I don't need any more jeans, tops wine glasses or shoes. Stop buying wine during the week (bad for me as well).
Need someone to keep kicking me up the bum. Need to be the person I used to be0 -

You're right Sarah, I'm seeing myself being a 40 year old that is skint and staying with her 78 year old dad by then. Sad thing is he may not be around. Worrying about being single, worrying about cars, pensions, worrying about mortgages and rents, worrying about credit cards, worrying full stop!
Sorry for the rant tonight, the bounced DD was the last straw.
I'm off to read someone else's news. Have you got that wine glass yet Sarah?

Why don't you post on here every day with the little things you've done? Sarah does it and I want to start doing it too (have done it today). It could be - saw a nice top, but refrained from buying it. That's a small step. Anything like that, where you could have spent money, but didn't or even none money related ones, like painted my nails and they look lovely. Anything positive, that helps you get to where you want to be.Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0

I keep thinking like that too, I want to be mortgage free before I am 50, need to get an actual mortgage first:rolleyes: We are wishing our lives away:o
Re glasses, I lost 4lbs this week, if I can lose one more by Sunday I will have lost my 5lbs target, so I will get one of the lovely glasses as a reward:D I found a wine glass from the Pier wrapped up in my cupboard last week, am using it now:D How I miss that lovely shop
My set top box is driving me insane, it cuts out every 10 minutes, that needs replacing at the weekend, also still haven't found damn ipod. Everything comes along at once:mad:Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

It really does help, you think you haven't done much each day, but the baby steps do add up. Anything that saves you money, NSD, bogof purchases, reading magazines online, cc payment, not using car etc. It all helps to keep you on track.Pay/save £20k in 2010 £5888.75/£20,000June Mini target 0/5lbs Total 23/40Ebay profit 2010: March £207:) April £95:) May £130:) June £0 Total £432:j0 -

The *damn* ipods replacement is still sitting here in its shiny case staring at me. You only need to Pm your address Sarah! Its one less thing to dust around, not that I actually dust..... but I do occasionally think about it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
