Hello everyone, I am having a frustrating day. My computer is on a go slow and nothing is downloading or working properly. It is so annoying as I only have limited time to do anything.
I am feeling the pressure as I have had a few days of doing very little and now only have a few days to catch up before the end of the month. I also have a massive headache coming on...
Good news is that I have booked a lovely hotel break for hubby and i for friday night. it is our anniversary of the day we met. The best thing is the price. te hotel is brand new and in a business park - but very swanky. Has a gym, spa swimming pool etc. They don't get many people there over a weekend so they are offerring a seven course meal with an exectutive room with access to the executive lounge for just £144 for us both. it includes free soft drinks all day (wine in the evenings) canapes and a light breakfast in the lounge.
Best of all - no kids!! The check out time is 4pm so a hangover is almost mandatory.
Sunday we are going to Crick boat show. Our dream has always been to live in a houseboat so it should be really interesting to see all the boat designs.
Anyway i will get back to it and try to getting the computer to do as it is told!0 -
That sounds fab Megs...now I just wish I had a handy chap to go away for a weekend with:rolleyes:
I have been busy with calls this afternoon (not receiving them but making them). I have been onto the bank as they have sent details of my account to the chamber of commerce:mad: so I have had to sort that out. The bank are also sending me a form so that I can apply for a debit card on my business account, apparently they dont just issue them. I have been onto the HMRC about the CF10 they were supposed to send me so they are sending another one (I asked for it in large print)
I have also been looking for a job but no luck so far:rolleyes: My office is still untidy:rolleyes:0 -
Hi David
I am trying to keep busy..I was even working when I was at the spa today:cool: I had to go and have some treatments and being a member I get 10% off and I thought that I would chill out whilst I was there. Got chatting to the chef and she told me how she used to be in business..hence me handing over some cards.
I had another thought whilst I was lying there being pampered - is sports massage different to the massage you would get in a beauty parlour for instance, if not then if I were you I would be going to the local leisure centres and gyms and offering a sports massage service.
Some folks are horrid and negative - that's just life. You have to feel sorry for them as you are moving onto bigger and better things whilst they are stuck where they are..saying "if only..." but never actually having the guts to do anything to change their situation.
hello again
thanks for the advice horace.
got lots of places to go, have to book the time off!
was going to go to those sort of places, fitness first do a business thing, but im not qualified in sports massage
just keeping fingers crossed things go ok friday, and i get some clients
thanks0 -

Morning all..sorry for checking in late.
After much uhming and aahing today I have decided to bite the bullet and book on a training course to help me improve my business. Thankfully the lovely ActionCoach that I met at a chamber event emailed me the details and gave me a voucher code to use so the course inc lunch has cost me £99 plus VAT instead of silly money:rolleyes: I have also been on facebook and have joined the ActionCoach group so that I can get free newsletters with business training and motivational things on it.
Am feeling a bit rubbish today, I swear I am coming down with a cold - couldnt get warm yesterday and I have the sniffs and a sore throat and sore gullet:rolleyes: Guess I will be living on soup for a few days:rolleyes:
Have a productive day all.0 -
Hello to everyone. I am working in my office all day today - hurrah! Would normally be tomorrow, too, but short-fuse client wants me to do an extra day to help him go through his projections. Am seriously NOT looking forward to that.
Nothing to report from here. I seem to have been working long hours with little to show for it. No new clients on the horizon. Still not done accounts. Just having a breather now and catching up on MSE for quarter of an hour while client looks through newsletter I have DTP'd to approve sending it out. Then have to print, collate, fold and stuff envelopes ready to send. Have to go and buy envelopes first, but can't do that until this afternoon as I have ordered a toner cartridge as well, which might not be in until tomorrow and I don't want to do the journey twice.
Am coming to England next week. More expensebut I do get to see my lovely parents. Unfortunately it has been brother-in-law's birthday since I was last over, and it will be my sister's a week after I am over, so I feel I have to get two birthday presents. Not that I don't want to give them pressies, of course, but, you know, more expenditure ...
"Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Hi Wordsmith - why not make them a present instead, more MSE:D
I have come to post something that maybe useful for folks especially those that live in Birmingham. There is a special networking night on 9 July for Taste of Birmingham which is being called Taste of Business and even better its free:j Two tickets per business:cool:

It might be a great networking opportunity with food too:cool:0 -
Hey everyone Ive been lurking recently rather than posting cos Ive had lots of work - yay. Nothing yet this week but I dont really mind. I have tooth ache thou, not registered with the dentist here yet, even thou its nearly a yr since I moved, just havent got round to it. Managed to find an NHS one as no way can afford private, they reckon it will take a month to register me, i might get a check up sometime in june and then will have to wait even longer for treatment! Highly tempted to go to my old dentist (as im still registered there) when I visit parents next week and do a deal with parents about payments. I have a very low pain threhold and my meds have lowered it even further! So I'm normally a bit of a whinger about these things!!
On good news, one of my new clients who I have now done 2 jobs for and have been promised a third has just paid my first invoice about 10 days earlier0 -
Hi everyone - hope all well. I can hardly hear myself think for the noise of the rain bouncing off the roof!
I have an angel who works for me on a Saturday (she's only 16 but is a real diamond) and she brought me in a recipe for cheesecake this week - you have to try this!!!!! It is sooooo easy...
Make biscuit based of about 10 crushed digestives and a knob of melted butter, put in tin in fridge while you make the filling. 2 x 250g tubs of cream cheese, 1 x 250 tub double cream, 150g sugar into a bowl and mix. The crush a big bag of malteesers and add them and pour over the base. Leave it to set in the fridge and believe me you will not be disapointed! For those of us with a more rounded figure (myself included) use low fat cream cheese, half fat double cream and canderal or something similar for the sugar but have the malteesers for pure indulgance! I can't decided on turkish delight or after eights for the next one!
It takes all of 5 minutes to make and I wanted to share it with you as it was the yummiest most comforting thing I have eaten in a long time!0 -
hello
just got in from the lovely temp job, but some good news. a girl who works there heard i do massage and has asked for some business cards.
she's going to pass them around her friends and help me out!
this came out of the blue.
i think she saw me going over some paperwork and studying my moves at lunchtime
that cheered me up no end
sorry for sounding miserable, i'm not really lol! :rotfl:
