  • I couldn't thinks of going back to a workplace where you are constantly dealing with office politics and working your tail off so your manager can take the credit and the bonus. Nothing is more satisfying than completeing a project and knowing that you were the person who found the client, did the work and got the money ;-)

    Andy ;-)
    Amen to that! ;)

I've finally got a lovely fast internet connection, so I'm happy now. :D

Chin up, Nzmegs! I know that blocked feeling, but the articles will come, you know that. (Ahem, and now I'd better run along and write a couple of my own.)

Aaah so that's the difference then pcfix - I actually went on a motorbike which is a bit cheaper and I haven't ridden over there for about 10 years:D

Shopping was ok - just need to tinker with the ad. I am sure there are magazines for things to do with bits of wires to make other things go beep - I think there is something called Electronics Today or something like:rolleyes:

    Well must crack on....

    Hiya
Well i'm kind of back with my brain in business mode again. My dad's not well so I don't want to take too much new work on until I know what's happening with him.

    Couple of jobs for today:
    - post cheques to business account
    - prepare clinic for tomorrow

Hope you all have a good week and hope you had a good birthday Sunshine xx

Ho Hum - back to work today.... if you don't know already, I work mornings for a house builder as a receptionsit. My afternoons are filled with writing articles which is 3x better paid and infinitely more satisfying!

Today at work was busy and I couldn't have gotten out of there any quicker come 1pm.

I really wish i could justify leaving my job - but who forces themselves into virtual unemployment during a recession? Yes my writing will cover my drop in income but what if my clients dry up tomorrow? My husabnd is also self employed (kitchens/bathrooms/electrician) and is doing well but not huge amounts of money.

Oh dear - i need to get some positive energy from somewhere.

Good news though - I ordered the shopping this week from Ocado (very extravagant) with the help of a £15 off voucher. I was careful what I bought and managed to come in at less than what I would usually spend. I love waitrose food so as a treat it is just lovely. Being delivered today.

Oh and got £25 debenhams vucher in post for my birthday. Might go and check out the sales tomorrow.

nzmegs - try not to beat yourself up, all sorts of mad fools set up during recessions:D

I am suffering from writers' block - I am still sorting out the wording for the ad as well as answering the questions for the feature. But, I have paid the invoice and sent off some artwork for them to play with:j

Oh and I have put my cheapo dinner on to slow cook - I got the joint in Tesco from the "severely reduced because its too close to the sell by date" shelf, so one onion and some cheapo carrots, water from the tap, some dried herbs, seasoning and pearl barley from the store cupboard it is on the stove top roasting away nicely - should be ready at about 8pm:D I think I should get 6 meals out of it:j

I also rang the chamber of commerce because I am still waiting for my password and everything and its damned inconvenient being without. My business cards will be delivered next week and think that I will be getting 4 x 500:eek: They have an offer on at the mo where if you buy one business card you get one free so I am wondering if I will get 4 boxes containing 250, or will I get 1000 cards or what I will get...I have no idea:confused:

Just had to laff...I rang my 'new' accountant today and discovered that she is living it up in Spain but will be back tomorrow, now I thought the ringtone was strange.

Think it's going to be a quiet week thankfully so will have a chance to catch up on paperwork. oh joy!

Such a beautiful day here, think i might go for another walk after dinner.

Hope everyone has a productive week!

had a really great meeting today with the landlord of a property im thinking of taking on. shes really keen to keep rent and costs down to help start up businesses and was really helpful,
the only thing that bothers me is that the unit i was taking on is divided into 11 shop units, i was planning on having 10 filled with artists, designer makers, dress makers, etc and one with a cafe. but there is a no cafe rule on the lease. im worried that having no cafe would seriously effect the levels of customers we got in, as i was hoping for quite a few that would come in for a coffee then buy something on their way out.
what does everyone think? would you still want to visit a small shopping centre selling only unique handcrafted art and crafts if there was no cafe in the actual venue? there are several cafes up and down the street...
    hmm hmm hmm
everyone seems to be doing very well productivley. i cannot wait to be fully self employed- only 6 night shifts to go now!

Firstly well done on the landlord issue and possibility of units. As there are lots of cafes on the high street and the lease says that you cannot have a cafe on site - why not have an holistic therapy shop in the remaining unit, people will visit for treatments and hopefully hang around and look at all the handicraft things? I must admit that when I go to places for treatments, I always end up browsing the local shops - I even nip into the craft centre which is close to the spa that I use (mind you that has a restaurant but I hardly ever go into that bit). Might be worth a thought.
  • You can always ask the landlord to sign something amending the lease to allow you to have a cafe. Its worth asking at least

Morning all....so far this morning I have taken my dry washing off the line, loaded the washing machine with towels to peg out later. I have also written the advert to go into the magazine - mainly I have copied and pasted something from my website and then tinkered with it, I will send it off in a while. Still to do - answer the questions for the feature.

I can feel it in my bones - today is going to be very productive.:j

    Have a good day all.
