hi there
a very useful site etc
on being told last year i was going to be made redundant, i went to college etc and trained and got qualified as a massage therapist.
i am doing the horrible 'temping' in a warehouse still to pay the bills, and doing therapies part time. its taken a long time but just going for it now, got my business cards through last week woohoo! website should be up and running in a couple of weeks.
its hard going into 'work' as no one cares at moment, just trying to keep inspired and hopefully make enough to cover bills and give my wellbeing treatments to clients
reading forums like this help a lot, and hopefully this will come off.
good luck everyone0 -
Must have still be half asleep this morning didnt notice is was your birthday Sunshine  hope you have a great day :j0

Happy birthday Sunshine - another Aries (like me). we are meant to be strong and caring and good leaders (if a little argumentative). Perfect for the self employed. Unfortunately for me at the moment you can add "lazy" to that list!
Hello David - I am assuming you are a bloke. Quite an unusual career path for a man, but men give the best massages as they are stronger and a bit rougher (ooh er!)
I understand the joys of having to work while getting your husiness going. It is really hard to get motivated and I could very easily chuck it all in tomorrow - if I could afford to.
I still haven't written the articles i was menat to do yesterday. i am having a bit of a mental block. problem with writing is that you need inspiration or what you write will sound awful. The money isn't inspiring me like it used to!
My husband is working today and will be having a late one - so i have all afternoon I guess.0 -
hey guys
ordered my business cards the other day from printing.com, just waiting for my proof to come through
so much to get done, only 6 more night shifts left and then im free! ..but have to earn a living!

 Hooray!! Just finished the world's most boring project ever!! It's taken 22 days of boring boredom and it's done, finito, over!
And the sun is shining too! A day off is in order :T0 -
You got it right there nzmegs us Aries are perfect for being self employed. I turned the scary age of 38 last Monday and been self employed on and off since I was 23 (between bouts of illness). I couldn't thinks of going back to a workplace where you are constantly dealing with office politics and working your tail off so your manager can take the credit and the bonus. Nothing is more satisfying than completeing a project and knowing that you were the person who found the client, did the work and got the money ;-)
Well its a very exciting day for me, its my first official day for my new business, was originally supposed to go live last thursday, but thanks to those French Fishermen blocking the ports I was unable to catch the Ferry home on Wednesday. So rather than spend 2 days at a Dunkirk car park, we drove back to sunny Holland and had another 2 days with my girlfriends family. So now feel well rested and ready to go ;-) ;-) !!
Off to pick up leaflets and bus cards this afternoon and then start marketing and networking tomorrow.
Wish me luck and hope you all have a great day.

Good luck Andy - next time go to Holland via Harwick to Hook of Holland or into Rotterdam, that way you avoid the silly froggies:D
Have a good day all - today I am trying to write my advert for the magazine and think up something suitable for the feature (I will have to make something up as I have no clients yet:rolleyes:). Well, best go shopping first - I need some essentials - loo rolls and food and I get some thinking time in too.

Thanks for the good luck Horace ;-)
Via the Hook of Holland is ridiculously expensive, especially as you HAVE to pay for some form of accomodation, even if its just a seat and then its per passenger so just two of us in a car is £265 return, where as with Norfolkline they sail every 2 hours, only charge for the car no matter how many passengers and its usually around £60 return !! As we go quite often that makes a big yearly saving.
I never understand how they get away with charging so much for the Hook of Holland route, it takes longer, costs a fortune and most people are savvy enough to realise that an extra £10 on Diesel to drive to Dunkirk is a good deal to save £200. Even better deal when we take friends with us, at Christmas 4 adults return with Norlfolk line was £63 whereas Hook of Holland wanted over £500 !!!
Hope the Advert gets lots of repsonses, Iam still trying to decide if I want to go with press advertising or just stick to internet and targeted leaflets. Maybe becuase I not bought a Magazine or Newspaper for years and instead read everything on the web has made me think traditional print media is dying off. But for your type of business a dedicated magazine seems an ideal place to advertise. Shame no-one writes a "Advice and Help for things with Wires that go Beep" magazine yet ;-)
Right am off to enjoy some sun and do some shopping on way to pick up everything from the Printers.
