Wordsmith - being up at silly o'clock in the morning isnt going to do you any good. Hopefully you will be able to have a lie in at least and avoid logging on until you have sorted out your tax.
Its a really grizzly day today and I have to go out so am not looking forward to getting wet. Well best crack on with the assignments apparently no. 11 will have to have 9 pages (I have done a page and a half) and no. 12 should have 4 pages...yawn.
Have a good day peeps.:D0 -
Can't be bothered to edit my previous post so I am replying to myself basically:D Talk about jammy - I am as jammy as they come. There is a new wedding magazine which was launched in the West Midlands recently called Your West Midlands Wedding, I met them at the Wedding Show at the NEC back in March and they do other county wedding magazines too. Well I have been chatting to them and decided that I wasnt going to advertise in their magazine because the cost was too prohibitive. A quarter page ad is normally £250 plus VAT:eek: When you are a start up like me - it is way too expensive. Then they offered the ad to me for £150 plus VAT but I told them this morning that this was still too much and that I would like to pay £90 plus VAT but that is too low, so they suggested £115 plus VAT so in the end I got a quarter page ad with free artwork for £100 plus VAT which is a more reasonable price to pay, its not the £90 though but I did compromise:D (I must thank my friend James for telling me never to pay the first price offered).
I guess the negotiating skills that I learnt when I was a branch secretary of a union haven't gone to waste:rotfl:
Well best think about getting a wriggle on, I need to get the bus to town. Just wanted to share some success with you:D0 -

Well done Horace.
I have completed all my courses and registration now for the network, so im waiting anxiously by the computor today as I should be recieving an email containing all my log ons so i can get on the live systems.
Quite impressed with the line up of business that I have this year so far
- Mum and Dads wants Bupa health insurance
- 3 freinds want a loan/cc cleared - £2240 earned from that
- A friend that my OH went to school with which he saw the other day wants a mortgage within the next few months.
- My friends dad wants a mortgage within the next few months of £100k - £365 from that
- And my best mates brother owns 10 BTL properties half of which's come up for renewal this year and the other half next year.
So thats 7 mortgages, 3 claims management refereals, 1 health insurance. (thats not even taking into account the other insurances cross sales linked to these sales)
Its all very exciting. Plus got my first client tomorrow at 10am ekkkk wish me luck!

Hi all,
Sounds like we're all being busy... I've just had an idea whilst reading through the threads that may or may not help some of us.
Many of us on here talk about websites that we have and one of the things that helps our rankings in search engines (I believe - but please don't quote) is to link to other people's sites and they link back to yours...
I'm wondering if we started a list of the type of websites that we run and the products we sell - we may be able to link to each other - and this may drive some business our way??
I know we can't 'promote' our sites but if anyone was interested we could pm each other to get more info.. and then decide if linking would be beneficial for our customers
Anyway my sites are:- Online Store - Healthy Chocolate
- Online Store - Natural Health & Beauty Products - currently being developed
- Corporate Site - Further info re Biz- currently being developed
I'd be interested to hear what your thoughts are on this...
Have a good day all ....0 -
That's brilliant Cheeky. Good luck for tomorrow. I think myself lucky that I never meet my clients face to face. it makes life so much easier. I always keep up with my emails and keep them informed, but if i wanted to to drop a client - not that I would - I don't have to tell them to their face. i am a coward!
I am just doing the usual today but also have to chase up two invoices. Why do people put these things off? All I want is to e paid for what I have done and they ought to make that a priority. i make their work a priority for me!
Excellent news Horace. Advertising is always negotiable. My husband foud that his advert was going in a magazine every month but he wasn't being invoiced for it. Of course he didn't chase it up, the magazine finally relaised after 9 months! and asked for back payments. As he had nothing in writing to say he had asked for the advert to be in this long he refused to pay. So he got 9 months for free. Still advertises with them hoping they will make the same muck up.
Have a nice day everyone!0 -
Oops, I had better re-edit my post as I clumsily dared to mention my business name:eek:
Kids - give them a book to read, make them do homework (they are bound to have some), let them play in the garden - they need to learn to amuse themselves:D
Ha, yes, that might work with 'normal' kids but my son is ADHD and has Autism and DD high fiunctioning Autism so need almost constant supervision really. The holidays are kids time and I'll work in the evening, it's no skin off my nose. Oh, and too young for homework - in the garden is fine as long as I keep an eye on them but today it is raining. I can't even take them to out of school clubs as they are not geared up to cope with them and, funnily enough, we only ever get invited anywhere once....
But it has been desperately quiet this week. I think I've had 2 orders since the weekend. Dire. But I do think this is the norm during the school hols as no-one spends on themselves.
The linky thing I think is a good idea, I mentioned this before. I sell undeies, all branded, and bra sized bikini's and swimsuits - again all branded, so if anyone wants a link then please ask. I am just trying to redesign the website (again), I am rubbish at anything like that though and the colours just won't work how I want them too.0 -
Ahh badish news...
just had email from the claims management team that deal with the unenforcable cca agreements. Only get £600 per successfull claim. So only getting £1405 for the 3 of the reclaiming agreements, (one is a freind that i owe £395 so have to give her that back

I am back from the chamber of commerce - I need to visit again on 30 April so that I can do my last signing and get my cheque book back:j I have made an appointment with the jobcentre for 28 April so that I can sign off and get my £100:j
Treated myself to some lunch whilst I was out - I have no food in except some soup so it was nice to have dinner without me having to wash up. As I was wandering along New Street in the rain I was asked if I would like to participate in a survey about yoghurt and yoghurt drinks so I said yes, it got me out of the rain for a while and as a reward I was given £3 of vouchers for Muller Yoghurts which expire at the end of December 2010:j
I am tired and wet - its been a horrid wet day today:rolleyes:0 -
AHHH Grrr
Not having a very productive day. Put off my regular work to do later (as they dont seem to care what time they get it back) for a potential job, which was then cancelled/postponed so i wasted a couple of hours this morning for nothing. Then I cut the sole of my foot on something, which hurts and i think is still in there. Waiting for OH to come home and try and prise it out.
And with my foot hurting, headache and generally cba'd ness Ive hardly done any work this afternoon. Grrrr... i dont like myself like this..
Oh and I overslept this morning and missed my doctors appointment, thou my doc was v nice on the fone and wrote me a prescription anyway, not that i can go get it cos I cant put any shoes on!!
I suppose its better than yesterday when I had one of my bad health days. I did manage to send off my invoice for last week thou
Must just keep plodding and think of the money I'm earning
Sorry for being so miserable!!
