Just popped on to say a quick hello to you all. I don't work during school holidays so i'm going to have work very hard next week! Actually, i'm fitting two clients in on Saturday when my husband is off so that will help. These shorter holidays aren't so bad but the summer holiday is a killer. Still, I get to spend time with my children which is USUALLY a good thing!!!
Catch up with you all next week xx0 -
Hi, Horace - glad to see things are moving on apace for you. Sorry to hear of your rotten day Starxtrouble. Hello, Mudbath (waves).
I have been in a client's office all day. Not too bad, but another lady there also working who just has to give a running commentary on what she is doing. Why? Am I bovvered? Anyway, not too bad a day.
Have to do an hour or so's work tonight. Tomorrow I will do a couple of hours' proofreading, then I have to give a computer lesson (an hour's drive away, but, oh, what beautiful scenery most of that hour is through), then into the shop to be a shop girl and then a bookkeeper. In the shop all day Saturday and Sunday and have to finish this proofreading in the evenings. I am tired just thinking about it. Think of the money. Think of the money. Think of bed. No! Think of the money. And I still have to get those darned accounts done. Don't tell me off, Horace - I am not deliberately avoiding doing them.
Have a lovely and productive Friday, all."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Hi Wordsmith
Sounds like you had a productive day despite the boring woman commentating on her own performance (or rather lack of it:rotfl:). Those that shout loudest are often doing the least work.
I am not going to say anything about your accounts - I have been writing mine up today so that I can present them to my accountant (when I employ her:D), they are only basic but everything has been noted and I have discovered that since August when I started to buy domain names up until 5 April, I have spent over £1700:eek: I have even started writing up my 09/10 ones too - just need to sort out the receipts into some sort of order and clip them together - as they are all shoved in a folder at the mo.
Tomorrow I need to start thinking about writing my ad for the magazine - they will help me with the artwork (they do it for free) and I have suggested that they use the free picture that I have used on my new business cards (not overly weddingy). Mind you I have looked on their invoice and have discovered that if I pay within 10 days I get a discount:j I shall put the whole amount in as I can pay by credit card and see what happens:D I need to finish off the assignments too but now I have a vague idea of what I am doing and what needs to be done.
Hope everybody has a productive day tomorrow (or should that be today?)

Morning all!!
Star, i hope your foot is better... being a horsey girl I would tell you to poultice it with an Animalintex and Vetwrap! However, I prescribe lots of sitting with the feet up and plently of TLC with the OH ferrying tea/coffee and buns!
Hoping to be busy this weekend here, have been fairly good this week so far, however the accounts are still a noose round my neck. On a good note, I discovered I have £23 more in my personal account than I thought I had! Whoopee!
Row with OH last night, his sister who cannot stand me is pregnant and he promised to lend her the crib that his son had and now he cannot find where he has put it so he said he would give her £300 to buy a new one. I gave off as I am having to buy hair dye in Tesco as I cannot afford to go to the hairdresser if we want to have food and said that i thought he ought to get his priorities right especially when the sister has such a low opinion of me. Needless to say that didn't go down very well but is something that needed said.
To quote others here....grrrr, grrr, more grrrrrr.
Wow!! Feel better already!0 -
TCM - is he married to your or his sister?
£300 for a crib is ridiculous, anyway shouldnt she be looking on freecycle?
If I were you I'd start going to the hairdresser as your OH obviously has the cash to splash if he is considering spending all that money on his sister especially as she doesnt like you:rolleyes:
I cannot get on with any work today - some tree surgeons have taken up residence on the waste ground behind my flat and have been wielding their chain saws all morning chopping down some lovely poplar trees:mad: These poor trees dont have a preservation order on them so they can be chopped own at will - now my view isnt nice:mad: Well, I am trying to get a preservation order put on the others so they can stay put.
I just cannot concentrate on my work at all:rolleyes:0 -
morning! or is it afternoon now!
Aw why are they cutting down the lovely trees H!! such a shame.
Such a busy morning, glad I started at 730 now so I won't have to work late. So things I must do today:
Finish samples
parcel booklets
update accounts
send reminder invoices
Send 2 emails to suppliers
Ok going to make some lunch and tea and catch up on the threads0 -
You've got in in 1 Horace! I suggested he move in with her if he thinks that much of her!
Why are they doing a chainsaw masacre on the lovely trees? Where are the wee birdies meant to live?0 -
I have no idea why they cut down the lovely trees - I rang them so I am hoping they will call me back and tell me. These poplar trees were over 100ft high and they must have been about 200 years old judging by the trunks that were cut up and placed on the lorry:mad: Unfortunately, they did not have a preservation order on them and if I had known sooner that they were going to be cut down then I would have chained myself to the jobcentre gates to stop them getting through from their carpark:eek:
Its really quiet now and my view is not so nice:rolleyes: I can only think that the house whose garden they were in had changed hands and the folks that bought it because of the trees decided that they didnt like them after all:rolleyes:
Hopefully I will be able to get some work done this afternoon/this evening.
have a good day all - TCM go and book a facial whilst you are at it, OH can afford it:rotfl:0 -

Hi Everyone - feeling alittle stressed right now. I just got back from a work "do" saying goodbye to someone going on maternity leave. Ihad to take the kids with me and they behaved really well so that was fine. But I have been off work for 2 weeks and found it hard to keep up with all the gossip - felt a bit out of the loop really.
I also discovered that they are doing appraisals at work at the mo and mine will be when I get back. I have recently refused to cover the person going on maternity as they wouldn't offer me any more money just increased hours. But I can tell that the person who has been lumbered with the work is a bit peed off with me about it. So my apraisal may well be "not being a team player" etc etc. But I earn just £7 an hour and the person who left is on twice that. Why should I have to do it regardless of whether I am capable or not. Aaargh! I took on a low paying part time job to avoid stress not add to it.
Makes me want to work at home full time - but have to have some sort of regular income. My husband is self employed too and we have trouble sometimes with going into OD to cover lean times.
To make matters worse I am really falling behind on my work. Ihave just had a client send through revisions to her website - which are somewhat more than i would have expected. of course i will charge for it but where will I find the time considering I am back to work on monday? I can work tomorrow but not Sunday.
Oh dear - i need a holiday (another one!)0
