Well, that Access to Work visit was a complete waste of time - I am not going to get any help because I kept stuff when I left the University which I should have handed back to Access to Work:rolleyes: Although I need a desk top computer I have to buy that myself..I shall have to see if I can get a grant instead:rolleyes:
Am now all smart ready for my meeting at 2pm down at the dayspa - makeupless as I am still fiddling with my eyes at the moment:rolleyes: I have put some new clothes on and now feel a million bucks:cool:
I have a horrid feeling that I have missed out on a mystery shop in exchange for a £10 Arcadia Card:rolleyes: Oh well, at least it has saved me some money:j
Mills - the Lickey Hills is just up the road from me - I could walk there if I have a mind but its all up hill and I am too lazy:rotfl:
Mabel - you are a trooper sending out my leaflets, I shall do the same with your postcards. As an idea how about instead of just having a plain headban/tiara why not make the tiara more tiara-like with beaded wires so that the beads/crystals are more upright as opposed to being flat.
Oh sugarpuffs...I have just put all my posh clothes on but forgotten to make a sandwich for lunch..oh well, I guess I shall have to make do as I need to drive to the spa and have my meeting at 2pm or I could stop off at the jinny ring and have a bite to eat there instead:D0 -
Lol Horace now have mental pic of you in your posh clothes dribbling tomato sauce from a bacon butty down your front!...not sure where that pic came from!!
Was thinking about tiaras like you said but there are so many companies specialising in tiaras I thought I'd leave it to them-once you get into the band size issues etc it makes things quite complicated and I don't really enjoy making them.
Just had another order for a garter charm :-) Really need to start on the prize draw winners jewellery...will do that now I think.0 -
Everyone seems busy! I've just had the most lovely lady come for a lash and brow tint - I don't do many beauty treatments and I don't advertise that I do any because I prefer the holistic side - but she was lovely! She comes about four times a year and bought me some chocolates for my children and some dog treats for our dogs. So sweet!
I've actually made a start on an assignment. I really want to get everything done and dusted for the last weekend of the course in October as then I can just hand it all in on the last day. It will also mean I'll get the qualifications before Christmas. I've only managed 300 words so far today because I'm having to cross reference, use case studies, blag, blag some more, lol! I've got about 15 books open at different pages so it's a case of bringing it all together. Oh well, another 1200 words to finish this one. I'm not going to bed until it's done so I really need to get off here!!!!
Speak later and I hope your meeting at the spa went well Horace xx0 -
I have news - the chap who came to see me for Access to Work has had a change of heart after talking to a colleague and he is now going to recommend an upgrade for my zoomtext software, a bracket and a 19 inch monitor that I can plug into the back of my laptop (although I have a feeling he said 21 inch which is too big (bigger than my telly in fact:eek:). Now I just need to get a desktop computer (a tower type would be handy and a keyboard.
The spa meeting went well although I didn to manage to blag any vouchers - I bought two - one for a facial for a chap and the other a manicure and free nail polish, now I may just give these as individual prizes. I have a bundle of brochures with price lists and they have given me some friend referral cards whereby I fill my details in and pass it to a friend who fills their details in and when they book a treatment they get 50% off and I get 50% off:cool: They have also said that next time I go if I could take some leaflets with me and they will put them in the sofa area upstairs where people sit and wait for their treatments:D I had a free latte too without sugar and I drank it:eek:
I did have some lunch as I went to the craft centre and had a bowl of tomato soup and a roll (I stuffed a huge serviette down my top so that I wouldnt dribble tomato soup down my front). I also visited their on-site jewellery person and pinched some ideas for Mabel - I know you hate making tiaras, this woman sells hers for £120 (some were just like your headbands) but another thing that she does that may be useful..is that she hires them out too and charges £50 a week.
Then I wandered across to the chocolate deli as they have moved into a bigger unit and yes I did succumb to some posh and decadent chocs but came away with some details about nights that they do usually on the last Thursday of the month but can do small hen parties at a time to suit - to make handrolled truffles.0 -
Congrats on the computer monitor! Thanks for the tiara idea...perhaps it wouldnt be so depressing if I hired them instead of keeping making them! Saying that, not sure how 'safe' an internet only hire would be,lots of things could go wrong with it, thinking brides damaging them and then claiming they got broken whilst in the post. will def think about it though.0

Horace- I really admire your hard work and determination, you really deserve to do well
I reall like the Jinny Ring- lovely cafe (see a theme here) and the shops are nice too and I luuurve the choc place
Moneymabel- I went on a Tiara making course a few years back, but never really picked it up- I think they take too long to make for me, I like more instant gratification
I made a few bracelets today (one was for an order from a friend), so the day wasn't totally wasted but I am still waiting for the most important bead order to arrive (always the way)0 -
Me too mills :-) well done on your order- hope your beads turn up soon0

De De Derrr...I think I have now cracked my prize draw listing:
1st prize worth £300 - On the day co-ordination
2nd prize worth £85 - a his and hers spa treatment (I remembered that they had a double treatment room and thought that one wouldnt go without the other), funny he has the manly facial and she has a fantastic manicure with free OPI nail polish and file. Plus they get free use of the thermal spa.
3rd prize worth £60 - a gorgeous handmade jewellery set made from the best swarovski pearls
4th prize worth £8 - a book of poems and wedding readings.
Now do you think that this sounds OK? Would you be put off by anything?
Now I need to work on my referrals e.g offering £50 for every wedding booked for £2000+ and my strategic alliance stuff. All this is being done before the assignment which is already mapped out in my head and stored away.
God, I am so sharp, I'll cut myself one of these days:rotfl:
I also think I am going a bit loopy as I have noticed that I have started typing complete and utter garbage with words missed out etc:rolleyes:0 -
I HAVE FINISHED THE ASSIGNMENT THAT HAS BEEN HANGING OVER MY HEAD FOR MONTHS!!!! Well, i've done it and emailed it to the tutor for any last minute changes. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Next one tomorrow!
Horace - the list of prizes sounds great. The only thing i'd say - as someone who knows nothing - would people entering know what 'on the day co-ordinatioin was' and would they have to add money to this to get the full package? Do I make sense? Probably not!0 -
Well done Mudbath!!!!!!bet you feel great now :-)!!
Sounds like you are making great progress on the wedding fair preparations Horace. Prizes sound great, especially the jewellery ha ha ;-) Stressy brides will love the pampering!0
