Hi tyllwyd - how are you these days? I am not touching Monavie with a bargepole - my gut instincts are usually right and I don't want to be associated with it as it doesnt fit with my business model (oh hark at me sounding all posh:rotfl:).

Prize draw leaflets - good idea Mabel I need to get typing and ordering a nice pendant set from your goodself:D What do you think of my prize list:

Pendant set, On the day management (this is worth £300) and a Guest Book, I don't want to give away full wedding co-ordination as it is just too much to give away.

Mabel - how many prize draw slips have you printed off? Remember to take stacks of pens, I shall stock up at Events UK as I am sure the Promotions Show will be on at the same time. I also hope to pick up free pens at the Autumn Fair along with a jolly nice Guest Book.

I tried to phone my parents today but once again my mother has switched the ringer off on the flippin' phone:mad: I haven't seen her and dad for 2 months now because I haven't been able to get out and about - mind you I still can't go anywhere because not one of my miserable neighbours will give me a jump start:rolleyes: I may have to resort to calling the RAC or see if I can find someone a bit more amenable on Tuesday...sigh

    Have a good day all.:D

Hi Horace-I've printed off about 200, should be plenty its only a local wedding fair, if not they can just write it on a bit of paper! Prizes sound good-just send me a p.m when you want the pendant set and we'll sort something out.
How much would it cost you to up your RAC membership to include Homestart? might be worth a look
  • Hi;

I work for myself and work in the retail sector doing various spots of research etc. The company I do a lot of work for obviously have their own contracts, I am wanting to do it alone too and offer the services that they offer but going it alone (not using any of their clients) purely my experience and know-how.

Do you think this is a conflict of interest? Let's say the company I work for do a price check every week for company 'a', there are 19 other companies that have products in this sector, there is nothing to stop me approaching the other 19 companies with a letter explaining what I do and offering price comparison surveys and other work that can be done whilst in store?

Thoughts? How best to approach it? i thought a letter laying out who I am (printed on good paper, in an a4 envelope with a business card attached? There are loads of companies to approach?

    Any other ideas welcomed!

Mabel I will send you a PM. I have been busy perusing your website this afternoon.

The RAC is a strange one as my ex husband still pays for it and I am looking at getting my own package away from him (it will include Homestart).

I have printed out 120 sheets so far as I need to get a ream of paper. In fact, I think I will ask the local stationers if they have an empty paper box as that would be really handy for a prize draw box as I could cut a slit in the top and cover the whole box with pretty paper.

I think I will take some clipboards with me too so that folks can fill the prize draw sheets in more easily. I am starting to get all excited now:rotfl:

I think it would be a conflict of interest if you are offering the same services as the company you currently do work for. There may also be a clause in your contract about not setting up a business in the same field as the company for whom you currently work within 6 months or so of you leaving.

Hiya....i'm back after a lovely holiday. Sounds like you've all been busy, busy, busy. Glad to hear it.

Moneymabel....I hope you've done well at the wedding fair and am looking forward to hearing how it went.

I've been sat catching up on facebook and it's definitely worth having clients etc on there as friends. There was a message from one client wanting to book reflexology, a back massage and a manicure. Yeah!!!!!! I also had an email from another client wanting a hot stone massage and a facial. Don't you just love technology! Looks like September will be busier than I thought.

Right, must go and do some more washing....what fun!

Have a lovely bank holiday xxx

Mabel - the cheque is in the post, I went to the postbox this morning so little postie should collect it tomorrow morning:cool:

Today, I am looking at making up some trade packs - I will only do about 20 of these at most.

I shall also be looking on Amazon for a suitable book - maybe of wedding readings or maybe wedding etiquette - any suggestions from you fabby folks would be appreciated. Amazon will be cheaper than Waterstones and I would rather use my vouchers for me:D

Have a great day all - it maybe a bank holiday but some of us are still working:rotfl:

Humph..thanks Mabel, I have that very book myself and dopey here paid £7.99 for it:rolleyes: I shall have a look on Amazon and see what else they have - failing that I will get that book.

I am in the doghouse - I eventually got through to my parents and told them the reasons for my not visiting plus i had had surgery - needless to say I was told off for not telling them. I hope to visit next weekend although Dad has told me not to drive as he wants me to get used to driving again as I haven't driven for 2 months. I need to see him because apparently he was most unwell on Saturday and missed the F1 qualifying - now he has to be ill because he never misses that:rolleyes:

Oh how I am in need of a facial and some waxing - I have turned into hairy mary:eek: again I can book these if I can get the car started as I have noticed that there is an offer on at the spa I use - if I go between Monday to Thursday and book an underarm and/or eyebrow wax then I can get them half price because they are training people on those days. Now I would much rather pay £7.50 than pay £15:eek: In fact I might give myself a mini facial tonight - I have some clarins facial scrub and loads of different creams and serums:D
