It may be Saturday but I am still working.

I have been asked by one of my friends (she is a wedding planner in Hampshire and was a tutor on the wedding planning course) for my help in recruiting people for the newly formed Federation of Event & Wedding Planners - she is setting this up with one of the ex students who runs a hugely successful wedding planning business out in Gran Canaria. There isnt really a recognised body for event and wedding planners here in the UK - only mickey mouse organisations in America:rolleyes: I consider it a great honour to have been asked to help with recruitment.:D

Am not sure if my business email is working - and I am beginning to hate blogspot too because I cannot log in to update my blog (I ask to be left signed in but the system will boot me out and then it takes for ever to get back in:mad:).

I think that I need to do some washing today - the sun is out so I had best take advantage of it:cool:

    Enjoy your hols Mudbath!

Horace, well done on your invite to help recruit! Thats brilliant news and should launch your own business further as well!

I'm working too all day today but I am taking Monday and Tuesday off. I spent yesterday on the phone to try and organise a few people to come out to see me about web designs but was put off by the price:eek: eek. I have been quoted anything from £600 to £3200!!!! I want to be able to sell online too, hence the recruitment ad for part time staff as I can't do everything myself.

Today, I have a nice jaunt out to a show that is on in the town today, I have to present prizes after lunch and thankfully, one of my lovely suppliers made me up 3 hampers of goodies to present so all I have to do is show up and smile for the camera. I have my "yummy horsey mummy" outfit on today and have a flashy hat too if it rains - watch out Victoria Beckham!

OOoh get you in your posh hat and your hunter wellies:D Hope you have a great time.

Webpages are expensive - I had all sorts of quotes even as high as £5K (in their flippin' dreams:rotfl:). You could try printing.com, they seem ok but I am sure there are folks out there who could do it cheaper still.

The Federation thing is making me quite excited especially as (shhh don't tell anyone...they've offered me free membership) I have the ideal place to promote it too as I am off to Events UK towards the end of September.

I have managed to get my blog to work and have updated it and have spent the afternoon looking to see which stands I should visit at the Autumn Fair next month, I am looking for stationery suppliers.
  • I am also off on holiday today.. to my parents caravan in Cornwall with some friends :) I just have to finish this translation, do all outstanding invoices, email all my clients to remind them i'm unavailable (Gmail doesnt have an out of office grr and I havent sorted out my new website and email address yet) and finish packing. I have been trying to instruct my OH on what I want packed but its slowing up my work considerably, so I've decided it will be faster to do it myself when Ive finished my work! Have to leave at 5pm at the latest as we are meeting the others at 6 about an hrs drive away... Sods law... has been slow all week then I get tons of work on Thurs that I cant afford to turn down and an agency emailed me a month after they first enquired if I could do a translation for them as the client has finally given the go ahead... and I cant do it cos im away :(

Right back to it... only came on to say a quick good bye and turn my email options off!

Hope everything is well in my absence.. will be back in about 10 days

Have fun Star - I could do with a hollibob myself:D

Today I have been spending money - I have ordered a set of headphones with mic, paid for a year's worldwide sub to skype and downloaded skype to my computer and paid £10 for some credit to use in the meantime. Free calls await me now:cool: Visa Fraud office called me too as they had declined my card because they were unsure if it was me using it to buy stuff on the net - I confirmed that it was me and all is ok with the world now.

Just received my new shoes from Hobbs - such service ordered last week, arrived today:j

Well, I guess I had better do some proofreading for someone (free) because despite English being her first language, her grammar is appalling:rolleyes: I think I shall point her in the direction of the grammar check on Word.

I also need to send off my second assignment and do some washing up. I need to take some rubbish out too (no foodstuff packaging) - I took my bin out this morning as it was starting to smell (only a bag in there that was a bit bloody) and the bin area is swamped with 4 old beds, 4 mattresses and the two bins to service 8 flats are filled to the gunnels with rubbish:eek: I do wish people would take their furniture and rubbish with them when they move out:mad:

Everyone must be on their hols?

I have now set myself up on Skype and today had the bright idea of contacting Access to Work as they have helped me in the past - it seems that as I am now self employed that the cost of any equipment that I need will be paid for by them and not me:D

I am also trying to find grants to help me with my business.

Hope you're all having a great time on your hols - or great weeks at work:D

God I am glad its not just me! I could really do with one..

Worked all weekend at V festival, Sat was Stafford which was a 5.30am start to get the band up there on time and Sun was a 7am start. Worked on site for a client all day yesterday then ran an event in London til midnight and at a clients all day today. Shattered. Just got home and planning to put my feet up but other half has just arrived home and announced we are going to Ikea! yuk...

Horace - well done on the federation invite - sound exciting to be involved with that...

    Mudbath - enjoy your hols.

    hope everyone else is ok...

I dont know what a holiday is either - although I do have a holiday brochure to remind me (I like looking at the pictures and daydreaming:rolleyes:).

Purple - I hope you have a jolly time in the US with your breakfast meetings etc:D

Ally Bally - maybe when there is more information you should join the Federation too seeing as you organise events.

2nd assignment has been completed and sent off. I had a look at the new website of the company that I have the strategic alliance with - they have added event management, venue finding and wedding planning to their list of things that they can do - all these bits are my bits:cool:

I am having terrible trouble with my pop3 box with virgin media - my business email works when it wants (which doesnt appear to be very often:mad:) and on the whole the email system has been slow.

I am hoping that ATW will buy me a new computer - my current laptop is old and I find myself peering into the screen just to see everything. Zoomtext is ok but it makes things a bit too big which is frustrating:rolleyes:

Today I have been mainly doing a bit of housework - all I need to do is wrestle the duvet into its cover although I might leave that little job to him that is coming to visit as he has an inspection tomorrow (he stays with me as it is cheaper for the tax payer - can you believe it, a civil servant who is concerned about expenses:eek:). I am hoping he will take me out to dinner tonight too - only the carvery but I dont have to cook or get glammed up:j
