Morning all

Mabel - it is worth laying the jewellery out on a white piece of paper and standing over it with the camera? I admit that I hate taking photos - I have these dresses to do but they don't look right on a hanger and I haven't got a mannikin (although I would be useless at dressing one of them because I couldnt even dress my dolls when I had dolls:eek:).

I am feeling a bit peeved this morning - I was due to meet a fellow wedding planner tomorrow but she cancelled on me last night because she decided to clear off to Ireland for a few days to clear her head:rolleyes: She hasnt been married long and her hubby is very controlling - he dictates what she wears and who she sees, she is also a bit isolated because she isnt from the midlands and therefore has no friends or family here (she doesnt get on with his). This is the second time that she has cancelled, I shall arrange a further meeting but if she cancels that then she is on her own and I will remove her details from my website and I won't advise her:rolleyes: Don't get me wrong I am sympathetic to her predicament but if she disappears and cancels at the drop of a hat then she is wasting my time and if she does it with clients then she won't have a business:rolleyes:

Today I plan the following:

Write assignment 3 (notes written but nowt else)
Tidy office some more
Go to Selfridges & TK Maxx (I am looking for a vanity case - business costs)
Do washing up
Think of something to make with 4 cooked sausages
Tidy up newspapers - may take them to the paperbank.
Sort out glass bottles and take them to the glassbank
Find a place that sells earring backs and safetypins.
Look for a new bra (probably primark as its cheap) that doesnt make me feel as though I am squeezed in a vice. Look for a lime green top too in primarni.

Hi Horace-yeah I've tried doing it like that but the bracelets just don't look right flat. Oh well never mind. Sorry to hear your meeting was cancelled -I agree that it should be 3 strikes and out, it's ok for her to have problems but you are trying to run a business.
Could you find a willing victim to model your dresses for you instead of a mannaquin (sp??!!)

Horace - last year I had a similar problem when someone studying reflexology at college wanted to come and see me. The third time she cancelled I didn't arrange to meet up with her again and she got really peeved with me - cheeky madam!

Moneymabel - have you looked at other websites to see how they display their bracelets? I'm sure i've seen bracelets displayed on clear plastic hoops so they keep their shape. Could you ask to borrow one from a jewellers? Sorry if i'm teaching my grandma to suck eggs!

I've got the day off tomorrow. I'm going into town with my sister and her children as she's only in the UK for another few days....don't want to think about her going back home!!

Woo hoo - I have been sent my logo for my website, I have asked the nice lady at the printers who designed my website if she could add the code for me, I don't want to make a complete hash of it which is what will happen if I am left to my own devices especially as I don't update in code:eek:

Its lashing down with rain here:rolleyes: Still I am going out today as I would rather go to town today than tomorrow (it breaks up the week).

Thanks Mudbath, have got some of those stands but the particular bracelets I want to photograph don't work on them :-( Only sit right on a wrist or on a cone shaped stand which the wedding mag said was too visible. I'll work something out :-/

You people are genious! I am going to put up a sign saying that hats and body protectors are fitted free when purchased but a small charge will be applied if not purchased but will be discounted off the price if purchased within 14 days, or words to that effect.

I have also howled with laughter at the thought of Mabel with a hack saw and a victim! My merchandising woman told me that any jewellry looks fab against black or navy velvet. I had some cheap gold stockpins in a plastic box and she covered it with black velvet and pinned them on the outside - made something cheap look a million dollars.

Mudbath, sell your old riding stuff on ebay - the prices people bid are sometimes alot more than you pay in the shops! I had a bidding war against a set of boots that my short fat legs couldn't squeeze into - they cost £40 and sold for £60!

I am sorry to hear about your meeting cancelling Horace, its hard to know where to draw the line. I agree with you if this is the way she runs her business, being controlled by her husband, neither will last very long. My ex husband was a control freak which i didn't realise until we seperated, and although the OH is a grumpy at times, I'd never go down that road again.

We were taken out for tea last night by one of our lovely reps who was up from the south of Ireland to see me about my winter rugs. I know it was buttering us up but it was lovely for someone to cook my dinner and do the dishes and clear up! I was very bold and had an Irish coffee after and slept like a log!

MM - Just an oddball thought ..... if they want it on a white background ... and it only sits right on a cone stand .... how about draping the cone stand in white fabric and then put the jewellry on to photograph :idea:

H - I can understand you being sympathetic (anyone would be), but as you say - she's already done it once before, so it's kinda taking the mick - it's not like she couldnt have arranged to go a day later is it Like you said, if she does that with clients ..... she wont HAVE any .... but she WILL have the beginnings of a nice reputation :rolleyes:

Well, my day's started off quite nicely ... I've got four more bookings in my diary (and they'll be paid next month!! ), Hoping I may get a few more through before the end of the day

Stumbled over another job, which I'm going to prioritise - as I've done temp work there, and they seemed to like me, so think I may have a reasonable chance (though its not the same work I did while temping).

Done some housey type work already this morning, got a couple of other bits I want to get done with today as well.

List for today (worky stuff) is pretty much the same as yesterday .. just continuing to follow up leads etc.

But I do want to make a start on my "Dream Board", so that I've got something visual to keep me focused & motivated. MM was kind enough to assist with that yesterday ..... but it didnt half hurt !!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Enough waffle, I've finished me tea - so had best get on.

No prob TCM that was probably the only good idea I'll have all year!! Black velvet is no good I'm afraid as it reflects onto the crystals and makes them wierd colours! Also no go on the cloth /stand idea GA as they need to see all the bracelet, it doesn't photograph well from above. Sorry I seem to be dismissing all your ideas ! Never mind tho- I have just recieved a preview copy of the wedding mag I've advertised in, ad looks good but bit small so I've booked a bigger one for next time ( yes, I got a discount Horace!)

Hi all

I am back from my trip to town - only got a vanity case and I did nip into the printers to pay for my update £23 (well it was in code and I dare not mess with codes).

Came home to find a letter from the council benefits service saying that they are going to stop my housing benefit:mad: How many times do I have to provide details of working tax credits and NI excemptions?:mad: Their letter is contradictory - it says to reply within a month and the form says reply within 14 days - which is it? I am waiting for a call back to find out what they are playing at:mad:

I havent opened my other post yet either. Hmmmm I wish someone would take me out to dinner - I am trying to conjure up an exciting recipe with 3 cooked sausages (I ate one this morning).

Well done on the work Greyhound.

Wish me luck dealing with the council - I can see myself losing my rag, if I do lose my rag then I will call on some councillor chums to help me out:D

Edit: Have just got off phone to council, girl is sending an email to her boss outlining everything on my file and I have to complete said form again and send details of WTC and NI Exemption yet again and I have to do this within 14 days! I shall send photocopies like before (even though they say no photocopies), I am not sending originals as I would never get them back and going to the Neighborhood Office is a waste of time (they never have appointments!).

I seem to have managed to pick up four M.Shops today, first ones I've had for months - all of which will fit quite nicely into the slots between my bookings..... My diary for the next couple of weeks is looking almost healthy

Though 3 days of that is for this course - so not actually earning on those days, but the payoff from qualifiying should come to fruition in the near future :rolleyes:

Must dash, got a couple of calls I need to do before end of business today - which it nearly is :eek:
