I left my positive attitude at my backside this morning somewhere! Yer bird says to love every minute of being in business. Frustrating was the politest word I can think of when I spend 1/2 an hour fitting a child for a riding hat only to be asked what size it is so they can get one for half the price in Argos. I have stopped telling people sizes as it bugs me. I wouldn't put a lesser safety standard on my head so I refuse to stock the £29.99 ones. Mine start at £39 and for the extra £10 I try to say that you are getting the hat fitted by someone who is experianced and qualified yet that seems to fall on deaf ears when it comes to money!

Rant over! Off to find my positive again!

This may be a dumb idea but what about charging a fiver for fitting which is refundable when they purchase a hat? would stop people just taking advantage of your service and then going to Argos :-/
Probably wouldnt work though so ignore me...i'm sounding more like Eeyore evry day lol

Thanks GA!! I need to retake some photos for the wedding magazine as they can't use photos of jewellery on stands-its bloody impossible to photograph some of my bracelets without stands :-/ should be fun. also need to come up wtih some more designs before too much longer unfortunately creativity has died a death in this hot weather.

I am no good at crossings off the list like Purple (basically I don't know how to do it...there I have admitted it now:rolleyes:)

I havent done any tidying of office today - I have given myself a bit of a rest.
Have been called by a paper claiming to be the Birmingham Telegraph (a free paper, that has never been seen) offering me a quarter page full colour ad in their illustrious paper together with a year's free advertising on their website - these folks think I am thick because I recognised them as soon as I looked at their web address - flippin' Midlands Focus who were incredibly rude last time and I have vowed never to advertise with their poxy rag:mad: They claim that they will be issuing this paper for the National Wedding Show at the NEC next month - I am not that dumb because the Show doesnt take placee until October/November time and the only free rag that is handed out at the show is the Birmingham Evening Mail:rolleyes:

I rang the FSB today and found out that my Vcode number has been printed incorrectly on my membership card as there are 2 letters missing:rolleyes: They have emailed it to me so now I have full access of the site:j

I have updated my blog too:D

TCM I would charge a fitting charge which is refundable against a riding hat, I wouldnt trust the rubbish in Argos - you might as well strap eggboxes to your head:eek: If you want a proper hat then you go to a specialist shop that way you know that what you are getting is safe and hasnt been kicked around the warehouse or whatever...some people get my goat:rolleyes: Sorry I jumped on my soapbox there...I'll jump off now (Horace jumps off the box with a flying kick...and gives mabel a quick boot:rotfl:).

I am feeling a little better - I will be a whole lot better when I get new glasses, these old ones make me feel sick because I just can't see and I lose my balance more easily:o

    Hiya
Just wanted to pop back on and say a big thankyou to you all on here. Sometimes being self employed can be soul destroying - no one to moan to and no one to say 'wow, this has happened'. It's great when something good happens that i've got people who understand and are chuffed for me! Thanks again!

TCM - how bl***y annoying about the hat. That's a good idea of MM's to charge for a fitting. You could say 'free fitting when hat is purchased' or something so it won't put others off. Maybe put a sign up explaining why you're doing it. I took my two to a proper saddlery place to get their hats and back protectors (the ones that are now lying in the bottom of my wardrobe!!):rotfl:xx

Well done on your customers Mudbath - I didnt mean to ignore you. As for your kids' protective riding gear languishing in your wardrobe, either sell it or find another riding school where they can learn.

Mabel, maybe you can borrow someone's wrist to display the jewellery for photographing (I don't mean chopping someone's hand off:eek:).

Thanks Purple - I had better go advanced nad have a play and see what happens:D
