Horace, I too I think would change the sourcing venues part but I don't know what to! I would also say something more about the registration desk other than just the name badges, perhaps something about ensuring guests are looked after (I'm sorry, words are not my best point!)
I think its all about selling yourself isn't it? Speaking of which.... WELL DONE PURPLEROSES!!!!! Please remember us poor folk here when you are rich and famous and dining out with the Beckhams in LALA Land!
I took a tip from Horace today when buying wallpaper for my front room and haggled a roll free! Its going to be sods law that i don't need it!
My angel is going to work Monday and Tuesday morning for me so that I can have a lie in and then ride my horse - we need to get into training for the over 40s pony games and so far this summer i have sat on her twice. Not good.
Have a good weekend

Thanks Tyllwyd, Star and TCM
I just flung something down. I hadnt thought about leaflets or invitations for that matter although I can do them...I will go down that route if I am asked.
Let's hope your horse doesnt buck you off if you haven't ridden her for ages - good luck with the ponyclub games too.
Have a great weekend all.

Oh don't you hate Mondays? I had this morning off and rode my dinky horse and a lovely big mare the OH was breaking for a customer. It was like sitting in an armchair but my legs are sore! The shop was very quiet Friday, Saturday and is woefully dead today. The rent is due on Wednesday and I always panic if it is quiet on the run up to it coming out, even though I know there is funds to cover it.
On a plus side, my book arrived with the post this morning so I am looking forward to getting stuck into it.
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
I hate Mondays too - it is a dank and dismal one here:rolleyes: I have spent the morning going through rubbish - lots of papers and stuff that has been collected in the course of my business and most of it has been consigned to the bin:j eg. signing on documents, old credit card statements (ripped up), out of date brochures, old notepads and general rubbish. Now I need to tackle the pile ontop of the shredder (most of this will go in the bin), then I need to sort out my shelves and move my desk.
I have been doing coursework and yesterday typed up another assignment but there is no point in sending it as the tutor is off sick...sigh. I will have typed up a 3rd one tonight too:rolleyes: I had a good read of the course last night and discovered that 4 chapters don't need to have assignments done so that's pretty good as it makes the course a lot shorter:j
I jiggled around with the wording for those paragraphs and submitted them - dopey me sent the email this morning and then just now remembered that I hadn't sent the document as an attachment:rolleyes:
I am now planning what to put in my emergency kit - and get the case to put it in. Some bits I have already but I need to add things like a penknife, pad, pen - one tutor suggested that I have a mobile phone sim in case there is no coverage but Virgin mobile I think has about the best coverage so I won't bother with that.
This week I am meeting a fellow planner in town and hopefully I can get some bits waxed before hand as I feel like hairy mary:eek:
TCM maybe you should try and ride everyday so you're not so sore0 -
Hiya
Well done on the website sale moneymable - doesn't it feel fab! I've now had three new clients from the website and it's now been running two weeks. I never thought it would be that good....it's definitely helped getting it up the google rankings.
Mizmir - are you going for a free bank account? The first account I had was costing me over £15 a month which soon adds up. My current one is free so long as I only bank a certain number of checks a month (75 I think - wishful thinking!!).
Horace - hope the plans for the event planning are going well.
Here's to a good week for us all xx0 -
Thanks Mudbath-what did you do to get your website up in the rankings? I've got some links and have advertised on BT Tradespace and Hotfrog, have also got Twitter and Facebook pages . Do you do adwords?0
-
Hiya moneymabel
I've done hotfrog, justoneuk, inetgiant and adzooks. I've also got other websites to put links to me and I put links to them - if you want to do this with me just pm me and we'll sort it out. My business is holistic therapies so we're loosely related. I've has a few people asking to link up that I'm not comfortable with e.g. plastic surgery, diet pills etc so i've just not done them. None of this has cost anything which is always a bonus.
The other major thing is your keywords. I was told to put loads of words in even if they're not totally relevant e.g. all the areas around you not just your area, so if someone is looking for what you're offering but types in the next area to you then they're got a chance of hitting on you.
I think that makes sense!
Good luck!
Good luck getting your website to move up!0 -
Well it be a grey n drizzly Monday here ....
Been in a bit of a tiz, cos one of the mutts decided to have my portable diary as an aperiteif yesterday  BUT, while out this morning, found a shop selling the "academic" ones (09 / 10) for £3.50 Just finished transferring all my appointments into it from the desk diary.
Completed the first two Assignments from the new client, they seemed nice & straight forward too, which is good. Plus my usual client has just started allocating the new campaign assignments for September, and I've now got six of those to add to the diary, plus whatever others they send my way. :T
My course has been delayed by a couple of weeks, so that's left a bit of a hole in my schedule..... will use it to do some more researching
Horace, I have a complaint .... you made me spend money ! After reading your "review" here about Ms Meadens book, I splashed out for it today.
I received one of the promised info packs, and have completed the forms, which are going in the post tomorrow. Followed up some of my previous work / job applications, and continuing to search other opportunities.
Not much else to report  Hope you're all having a good day !

Mabel, I have been struck with a blonde moment in that I forgot to say WELL DONE YOU on your first internet sale! Thats fantastic and I hope it is the first of many many more to come.
Horace, I would like to have the time to ride every day, I used to ride maybe 4 or 5 horses a day at one stage when I worked part time but the self employment melarky has put paid to that unfortunatley and I have tried to haul myself out of bed earlier in the mornings but struggle, no matter what time I go to bed at. The big mare is only 3 and I am pleased to say I haven't lost my touch too much! The OH (who is so good with young horses it makes me want to weep watching him) even left me alone to work her - miracle indeed although he did ask once or twice if I had left the hand brake on!
Well done on your assignments H. Was it the weekend past you were out and about with the event management?
The BIL is STILL painting. Slowly. I did offer him a cup of tea this morning but he said he'd best keep at it!
Mondays should be banned. Things have picked up here this afternoon thankfully but I still hate them!
Have fun everyone!

Greyhound Angel - if the book is no good (although I think it will be great), Horace will never hear the end of it! I can't wait till after i get the dinner over and sit down to read it. I have it beside me and am nearly itching to get started!0
