OS Daily Tuesday 17th March

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 17th. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning peeps

woke up a while ago so i thought that i would see if anyone was around......... nope i was wrong you`re all tucked up in bed nice and warm. I`ve slept badly on and off all night after dosing myself up with paracetamol as i`ve had toothache, it`s been a niggle that i`ve ignored for a few days hoping that it would go away but i think that i should ring the dentist. At one time the pain was so excruciating that i wanted to pull all my teeth out to make it stop  i now have a nice cuppa which tastes like cloves

Mr Sunny goes away for a few days fishing today and he is taking both the houdies with him. It will seem really strange here with just me and the cat, i shall have some time on my hands too as today is my day off and there will be no houndies to be walked. I shall be in the garden for most of the day as i`ve still got quite a bit to do but things are looking so much better.

I shall take the opportunity to wash the houndies beds and towels etc and anything else that i can lay my hands on and i shall give all the floors a good mopping as it`s so much easier without cold wet noses wanting to see whats happening :D

Just me for tea tonight and i`ve no idea what to have :D suggestions on a postcard please. I`m not sure whether i will be bothered to cook for just lil old me.

Happy Birthday Snoozer :bdaycake: have a great day.

I`m off to put the kettle back on and have a browse for an hour, hope that you all have a great Tuesday.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

    Morning.

Cold and frosty this morning here. Sort of dispels any hope of thinking that Spring is here and I should be planting more.
Last day of work today and then 5 days off. I took the weekend as the last of my holiday leave, so looking forward to doing a few jobs around here and sorting out junk ready for some sort of boot sale.
Did some shopping in ASDA last night, it was one of those feeling that there were not many deals type of nights. Lots of 3 for £3, but I don't want 3

Taking my work shoes back to Clarks today as they squeak when I walk. It's really annoying and so obvious. I am sure their quality is going down hill.

Hope everyone is OK and making headway

Hi Sunnyday - enjoy your time to yourself, but please do see the dentist; toothache is a horrid thing and you don't want it spoiling your few days. I have a dental check-up this morning; it's a routine one, but at least I'll have been given a clean bill of health (hopefully!) before we leave for France on Saturday! I shall find a French dentist once we are settle in there, but my dentist says we can stay on his books and just make appointments with him when we know we are visiting the UK. We've been with him for years and years; he went private a few years ago but, luckily, we haven't needed much in the way of treatment over the years, so we don't mind paying for the check-ups.

Well, I've really neglected this thread for the last couple of weeks. I've been busy with the Knit Your Square thread - which is going from strength to strength nowadays! Apart from that, we are packing ready for the move, which is less than a week away now! Yesterday was the day we felt we were on course to be ready in time. We worked all day on the packing, made several trips to the local charity shop, and felt we had really achieved something. The only hold-up was someone else's fault. We had moved some money into my current account to pay for all the moving expenses from the one account, to save confusion. We booked the ferry online, then DH went to pay for the truck and they declined the card! We knew we had enough money in the account; he went to the bank and they found that the ferry people had debited the same amount twice! So we had to phone them up and, hopefully, they will have corrected it by now. I shall check in a minute. We'd never have known if we hadn't decided to book the truck on the same day - otherwise we may have bounced direct debits.

I'm sorry I haven't kept up with all the news. Lots of (((hugs))) for those in need, welcome to any newbies I've missed, and Happy Birthdays and congratulations where needed.

    Have a great day, everyone.

36 years ago today DH & I got engaged, only remember as it clashed with St Patrick's Day by chance. Big Irish contingent here so many celebrations today/tonight, some put on my local council to support the Irish residents. We may well be joining in.

Good morning everyone :D Just poppiing in quickly to say hello :hello:

Been awake since 5.15 am, but as I went to bed at 9 pm, I've managed to get 8 hours sleep. The last few nights I've only managed 6 hours sleep per night and I definately need 8 hours to get through the day.

Popped downstairs at 6 am to take the yoghurt out of the machine and the bread out of the breadmaker. The bread smells wonderful.

The chicken drumsticks I took out last night have nicely defrosted and I've popped them in the fridge. I'm planning to make some sort of breadcrumb coating for them tonight and then oven bake them.

Have a lovely OS day everyone and big, big, (((hugs))) to those who are down or feeling under the weather.

It's been really hot again here the last few days. Had a huge storm last night. Power didn't go off thank goodness but we got some good rain. Did some baking this morning & typing out my recipe book this arv. I'm nearly finished. ;) Printing out next.

Off to the hairdressers tomorrow. I'm going to go light brunette now with a few blonde foils in my fringe & front. If I don't like it, I can change right. :D

Cold here this morning, its cos I turned my heating off, I may have to out it on again for another few days, just an hour in the morning and evening.

My Kedgeree was not a huge success :o in fact dd would not eat it, i think i put too much curry powder and too much liquid, it was a bit sloppy, OH and I ate it, but it was not too good :rotfl:

Tonight I will do some chicken legs, mash roast squash, cabbage and carrots, I can manage that :D

Need to hoover through today, do a quick wash, and a general tidy, the conservatory needs a gpood clean after winter, so I might tackle that.

Stef, a perfect gentleman eh ;) will you be seeing him again ??

OK better get on. Have good days all xx

    Morning all,

Sunnyday you really should see a dentist today, there's nothing worse than toothache

Had a few bad days, not been out since Saturday and the longer I leave it the harder it is. Will try to get out today

Tea tonight is going to be freezer roulette again, I really must start labelling my HM dinners.

Hope you all have a good day

  • Morning all,

looks like another beautiful day here too :) I love these sorts of days, with the promise of the summer to come in a few months. I got my washing line the other day, though have had to improvise with a concrete plant tub, and a few bricks to use as a stand, as I don't have a concrete base in the ground. But I was able to hang all my sheets out & then have a lovely fresh-smelling bed to sink into :)

I realised too, that despite being manically busy and not very organised (ie I haven't been meal planning), I've still been buying stuff & cooking from scratch because that's what I prefer, rather than resorting to microwave meals which is what I would have done a few years ago.... So I am a good OS girl!

Redruby, the kayak sounds like fun - will you be going up the river to Mr T's in it??? You could tow a mini-kayak behind to carry the (cath kidston) bags....
Sunnyday, hope you get the toothache sorted soon - perhaps something soft for supper in that case??! (soup...??!)
Kathy, wow, the move has come up fast - hope you manage to get back online & with us as soon as you are able once you're there.
Stef, can't wait for more updates... are you sure you're telling us the whole truth about your weekend?!!!

Smoky - thinking of you & your LO's today. As Redruby said I hope you are able to hold the happy memories in your heart.

Anyhow, time to get up & moving, roll on the weekend...!!
(((((((((hugs)))))) for all those needing them.
