Mrscmr, if OH is applying for JSA maybe worth considering Council Tax Benefit and Child Tax Credits as well. They would at least up you income and cut your outgoings.

You can backdate CTC 3 months from the date you phone and register for the pack. When you send it in they will immediately turn down the application because of last years earnings. All you do is wait for the official knock back letter then phone them and tell them your change of circumstances and projected earnings for this year. Check the figures on http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/TaxCreditsandChildBenefit/index.htm
to see if you think you qualify based on 09/10 income.

You can get a link to your council for www.direct.gov.uk as well to check out the Council Tax benefit and possible reduction.

    Any questions let me know.

  • Hi, I have spent the whole night looking at your site, I just couldnt go to sleep without finding out what happened! and it came to an abrupt stop!!!

I joined the forum site so I could wish you best of luck. I understand what you are saying, you have had the luxury etc. but you are now paying for it, you realise the problem but you are doing something about it, something which you should take credit for.

So sorry for your fallback with your OH job etc., just when you are doing so well.

Incidentally, I followed your diary just to find out if you come out successfully on the other side, as I am sure everyone else is doing too.

So, keep on smiling, my mum always tells me something will turn up, and it always does. So good luck and in the words of monty python 'Always look on the bright side of life te da te da te da te da......'

@browneyedgirl - thanks for taking time to read my disaster! its grim reading eh? well it would have been soo good if OH had been in work - problem solved - on track - steaming ahead.
but now i have no idea how it will turn out. i just want to be able to keep my home and from the outside world - no one should know any different.

i am doing my best to make a good outcome of all this i promise you.

    have a good weekend all.

Hi mrscmr - sorry I havnt posted over the last week. Having had my own copany a few years ago there is NO WAY that anyone would have a meeting about it without me present. I was a director. It was my duty, and it was my income therefore I went!! Can you go too? Do you have any shares in it?

I dont use the 99p shop (it closed after Christmas anyway!!). But poundland is fab - I get my cd bubble envelopes there - £1 for 8, rather than 56p each in the post office, I get the other sizes and sellotape - the proper stuff, and clear parcel tape there too. I get the brown paper from Wilcos as its cheaper than poundland. My tissue paper and clothes mailers I get from ebay, but not grey as it can make the clothes smell 'smoky'.

Glad to hear there is a glimmer of light showing. Well done with the mortgage - that was wonderful news! Keep going - you are making a huge difference and dont buy those scented erasers yet ( they do excellent birthday cards too - 50p each)

Desparate people will do desparate things, if they think it will get them ahead. That is why it is ESSENTIAL that your OH goes to court on Monday.

What if someone has say forged his signature on a document, agreeing to pay xyz back on behalf of all the directors or something like that. Or the other directors produce some other document, that your OH should contest. He and therefore you could be in even deeper doo doo than you are now.

So even if you have to physically drag him there, make sure you go. I would be astounded beyond measure if he was the only one there...(ie from the directors.)

Right - lecture time. This is meant to be a warm fluffy place, but gloves off for the next 5 minutes because you're too nice and decent to be smothered in ineffectual kindness when you need a kicking right now (in the nicest possible way).

    QUOTE]
    LECTURE 1

Remember in the good times when you paid buckets of tax and national INSURANCE well that was to help in times like this. We estimated last month when we claimed that we've actually pitched in QUARTER OF A MILLION pounds in NI and tax over the last 10 years. So forget pride...would you be too proud to claim on your house insurance if it was flooded or you car insurance if you had an accident? NO YOU WOULDN'T - claim what you can now to keep you fed and a roof over your head, you've worked, you've contributed and you are entitled.
    END OF LECTURE 1.

    LECTURE 2

Go to court on Monday and drag OH there shackled, drugged and beaten half to death if necessary. All the directors have families. Everyone is out to minimise the impact on their family. They will do, say and imply anything they have to. You and OH need to be there. He needs to stand up and be counted and you need to listen and take notes because chances are he'll remember nothing afterwards due to the environment, stress and grief he's experiencing. You're stronger than him at the moment, keep it together until Monday and then you face the future together with the facts.
    END OF LECTURE 2
    PROMISE

We're all here although you've never met us. Sometimes the anonimity can help you get stuff off your chest. You and abuse us here to help you get through it.
Your To Do List for the Weekend
    1. Phone the Direct Gov people today.
    2. Go through whatever info / paperwork etc you can get out of OH , find round the house to understand more about Monday.
    3. Go to the Treasury Website and look at winding up a company.
    4. Post any questions, queries, concerns you have on the forums here. There's a bankrupcy one and a tax one (which is good on company questions). People here will help.
    5. Get out into the fresh air and walk off some of the frustration.
And yes I'm a bossy cow, and yes I have no right to lecture you but it's done for the best reasons...sometimes it's easier just to be dictated to - I am your weekend dictator and I think Chev will be right beside me dictating too (but we have timezones to consider).

I totally second everything that Kissjen has said.

Today and Tomorrow, start a list of any questions that you have that your OH needs to raise at Mondays meeting. I thinks thats its a great idea for you to go to make notes. Then on Sunday go out as a family and enjoy the good weather - run and kick balls around in a park somewhere.
    - my mother made me do it before exams. It worked!!
