  • Hi there pinkstars.

Working in Morrisons, do you get any kind of staff discount? I was thinking you could get a cheap loaf of bread, spread and a cheap piece of cheese and you have sandwiches for a week.

Please don't fritter away any money when you are with your friend - you'll be back to the position you were in before you found the £10.

What's cathouse? If it's somewhere you'll spend money, don't go, you are in a tight position and I know it's hard. At 22, I was in a similar position having just taken on a mortgage with my partner and we were so broke it hurt.
Yeah we get 10% off, but my mum does all the food shopping.
    the cathouse is a club i guess...with rock/metal music

how about asking your Mum if you can help with the shopping and use some of the money you give her to get your lunch food? That way, she saves 10% and you get to choose some frugal lunches.

I know it is hard, but to be honest, you really can't afford to go to the cathouse - how about your friend comes back to your place or you go to hers?

It's free to get in and 80p a drink, i can manage a few hours i think! lol
She can't really come here, my mum doesn't like people in the house that much, and she has a little boy so he'd be sleeping, which wouldn't be much fun :(

I'm a bit confused here. You have one thread which is all woe is me I have £5 to my name and another where you're happily sticking a new dress on a storecard in the same week in the hopes that some mythical payment arrives on Friday. What happens when it doesn't?

On the 1st of June you had £5. On the second of June you found £10 making £15. All you've done in between is take the bus to college having made lunch at home yet you now have £7. Are bus fares really £8? Thats without the £10 dress. Why are you LOL that you haven't a clue what you spent the money on or that you've just added more debt onto your storecard? Whats funny about that?

I'm not the first poster to feel that you're mocking the people on here who are actually in debt and are on the point of suicide because of the vicious circle of they're caught in where their debt gets bigger and bigger with every passing day no matter what you do.

You've had some very good advice here but your priorities are those of every other 22 year old out there. Party party party and then shop until you drop. Perhaps when you hit 25 with a debt of 5k or even 10K as a result of spending money you think you'll have but don't you'll actually have a lightbulb moment until then please stop ridiculing those of us who do have weeks when we only have £10 to our name and still have to feed a family.

I think we also need to remember that littlepinkstars is only 22 and probably hasn't had a real LBM yet.

I was in debt from my 18th birthday as I had moved out of home to go to uni (Dropped out due to lack of cash) and had my LBM last year at the ripe old age of 27. It doesn't help to be harsh, as it might drive her away from a site that will, eventually, help her.

Being young isn't an excuse for being daft, but it's easy to see things in black and white and to judge. We need to support her.

I do agree that the OP hasn't had her LBM yet, and would recommend against going to the Cathouse (It's a horrible club, lol!) as you may spend money you don't have. The "it's only 80p a drink" mentality adds up to £8 after 10 drinks.....

Please keep posting, but really think about where you want to be with your money when you turn 25 because when you're staring 30 in the face and you're still up sh*t creek, it's not fun. I speak from experience.

cathouse is the only club! haha just kidding, been going there since i was 13, so not going to start going somewhere else now!

And no i dont think i've had a lbm, i've never really been out on my own, yes i have moved out of my mums house, but i still had her coming round nearly everyday and doing things for me. I always have someone to fall back on, and i know i always take advantage of this, which is why i am trying to sort things out by myself for once!
  • anyway, apart from all this drama....today has been quite good. I didn't go to college, i wasn't in the mood for spanish. (i am in a basic spanish class, as its all my course offers and i have advanced higher spanish and have done a cali uni spanish class as well. My college didn't know what to do with me this year, as they only offer spanish, french and italian. I done the italian class last year, and advanced higher spanish and french.)

Totally off topic i know, i am dreading my tour guiding exam next week! We have to take our class out for a 15 minute guided tour of the city centre :s

You've said it yourself, but this is really the time to start taking advantage of your position with still living at home. You are never going to be better off financially and have as big an opportunity to save for your future as you do now :)

But unfortunately, you can't do that because of your debts.

You definitely haven't hit rock bottom, because if you had, you would've cut your store cards up... never mind spending £10 on one of them. Like I said before, perhaps you need to look at why you spend the money you do. You said yourself that you have an addictive personality... this could work in your favour. Get addicted to paying off your debt instead of spending and then get addicted to saving :)

There is some good advice on all of your threads, but no one can help you if you aren't willing to help yourself and frankly, as harsh as it may sound, you aren't doing yourself any favours chicky.

Are you being really honest with the SOA you posted here?

The £10 you spent on your dress is half of what you said you spent on clothes a month.

When going to University, the last thing you need to be worrying about is where the next meal is coming from and you could really get in a tangle with credit.
