Filipino fishermen in this country get a pitiful wage.

He said that the practice started in Scotland two years ago and spread to Northern Ireland and according to the report, Filipino fishermen had signed contracts and were paid a rate relevant to the Philippines but not the UK, earning US$553 (£374) including overtime for working nearly 300 hours a month.

He said that, if the fishermen were paid the UK minimum wage, they would get more than £1,600 a month.

It would also incentivise British workers

How? If I'm on minimum wage I'd hardly be more motivated simply because a colleague is receiving even less.

    No, dont think so.

My debate has been over the merits of imigration as a whole. I have never highlighted any differecnes between colours, religions, creeds, etc.

A rich American coming here to take a job is, as far as I am concerned, the same as a poor black woman who got here in a boat. They are both examples of where British people CANT or WONT take jobs - which is wrong.

I am not racist at all.

Are you in anyway connected to or sympathise with the BNP?

I am in NO WAY connected with the BNP. I have NO sympathies with what they are really trying to do.

Although their printed manifestos and statements are written so as to 'appear' mild, reasonable and forward-thinking, I am in no doubt that their party could harbour thugs, racists, and gangsters. Those people are scum that I despise. Just like with mainstream parties, what you say publically is not what the truth is provately.

I am more of a UKIP person :).

Your proposal does nothing to help in either regard - how would it help people who CANT or WONT take a job? Would they suddenly decide they wanted a minimum wage job because their polish work colleague was receiving less than minimum wage?

CANT take a job - you cannot do much if someone cannot physically take a job on.
WONT take a job - surely employers should give jobs to those that want them? If they have to employ from overseas then so be it.

If the arguement is not about race and is about economics and OMG the UK is full then surely you would be better lobbying the government to kick out the workshy brits rather than prevent the immigration of people who want to work.

It's no more a ridiculous arguement than your OP

I am appalled and offended by the OP. I hope this thread gets closed and OP banned from MSE, ad it is very upsetting.

I am not from UK. I work hard and pay my share in taxes. Why should I be paid less? We should I pay more taxes? I actually got most of my education back at home, so I didn't have YOUR government to pay for this. I pay my council tax, and all my bills. I don't receive any benefits nor my OH (not from UK either). We keep our money in YOUR banks. So, what is so different between you and me that we should take different pay home?

At least I speak English - not like English going abroad expect everyone to speak THEIR language.

I apologise if you are offended or upset by the OP. That was not my intention.

I have no personal animosity to any foreign worker who is currently here - I was simply musing over ways to solve the problems of unchecked immigration.

I hhave deleted / altered the OP.

    Again I apologise.

    !!!!!!!!.

Your entire posting history over the last few weeks has been littered with postings illustrating such things as foreigners taking jobs, foreigners using up NHS and the welfare state without contributing taxes (kind of contradictory to the first point, but never mind) and foreigners creating social unrest and crime wherever they settle in the UK.

Coming behind and issuing faux apologies doesnt cut it.

Whether you like it or not, you have positioned yourself in the board's collective mind as a bigot at best, and a racist at worst.

    Well done.
