Dervish you are to immigrants what CarolT was for BTL.
It is unhealthy to chanel all your energy in to a group like that and a bit disturbing.0 -
I am saddened that a few people feel they need to hurl personal abuse my way instead of debating the points.

Anyway here is an interesting article about Australia's new idea about foreign workers:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/nickbryant/
Many would argue we shoudl do the same.
You might like to read your own countries immigration website and policies before posting links like you have... I suggest you have a read of this http://www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/newsarticles/migrantworkerstoughertest
where you will see the following ""All workers now coming to the UK from outside Europe have to meet the requirements of the Australian-style points system, which allows us to raise or lower the bar on who can come here...."'Normal' is a dryer setting.0 -

Have many here watched little britain.0 -
i think what ppl are getting on about these days is not just any old foreign worker, we talking about ppl from the EU who can come and go as they please not ppl from other countries where the process of applying for work permits are actually quite hard. Some of these ppl from EU they come over and they use our medical services use our schools and claim benefits and yet contributed very little to our society. Then again there are many ppl in the UK who abuse our system are they more entitled to abuse things? We get alot of foriegn workers here doing jobs we do not want to do. Now that the economy has got bad these jobs we dont want suddenly become attractive and hence ppl complain. When jobs are plentiful and you can get paid well ppl dont want to get paid min wage to clean bins. People can complain all they like but we all r partly to blameCharles J0

But Joe, that's just the flipside of our being able to go and set up home in a nice place in the south of France, or the Costas, or anywhere else that takes our fancy. We're just as able to do the same as they are in coming here. Unfortunately what hampers many people here is that we're appalling at learning a second language, so can't as easily take advantage of that mobility, but we can hardly blame the Poles, French, Spanish or anyone else for that. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

We employ LOTS of polish people where I work. Why? Because they work hard, don't complain about the work being boring (it IS a boring job they do!) and just get on with the job in hand without whinging. The English people we've had lasted all of a week, in which time they moan about the hours, the work, the pay, and then end up just walking out or not coming back after a week!
And at least they (mostly) speak (reasonable) English. Think of all the English living in France and Spain who don't speak a word of another language!! If a Polish person came up to someone in England and ordered in Polish in a shop, then they'd no doubt be told to F-off!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

It seems rather unfair that any foreigner or immigrant can just waltz into this country and get a similar wage to someone who has lived and worked here all their life.
Foreigners who work in this country or immigrant workers should have to have a probationary period BEFORE they can earn full wages - I support the view that they should have their own wage and pay structure which is BELOW the standard minimum wage.
ie Froeigners minimum wage could be about £3 an hour. Also they should NOT be entitled to receive and benefits or NHS cover (emergency excepted) until their probabtionary period has elapsed.
This ideas would make perfect sense in the current recession as massive amounts of money would be saved and it would deter economic immigrants from coming here in the first place. BRITAIN IS FULL !!!
It woukd also incentivise British workers as they would be getting more money than their immigrant counterparts and consequently there would be less resentment and hatred towards the foreigners.
we need some politicians to have the bravery to make this happen as it would have the full support of the majority of people,
Don't bother answering that the 'are you in any way connected with the BNP' question that you avoided answering the other week, I think after reading your posts since asking, I have learned the answer.0 -
NO... it seems rather unfair that somebody should be paid less money because they haven't been in the country as long as their British counterpart. It seems rather unfair that any foreigner or immigrant can just waltz into this country and get a similar wage to someone who has lived and worked here all their life.
Pay, amongst other factors, is based on the skill set required and what you as an employee can offer - labour etc. It shouldn't be based on your background/nationality/residential status. I'm not going to agree to pay somebody more becuase they have lived here longer. They don't have a right to get that job nor the right to be paid more. They might have lived here for a long time but never contributed anything to society.
There's normally two extremes why immigrants are getting jobs
i) they have the skills/qualifications/experience/knowledge that the employer requires. Maybe the employer can't find that pool of resource locally. (Hard to believe)
ii) Immigrants may be willing to work for less money. Provide near enough the same level of labour (or better in many cases) at a reduced cost to the organisation.0 -
I really hope that this thread is a joke.0
