Please list the consequences here (I will start it off it shouldnt be too hard to get to 100,000 reasons not to do this in the next 20 mins!):
1) Drive down the wage for the majority of the population
2) ........... Anyone else?Not Again0 -
All that would happen is that employers would be incentivised to hire immigrants over British workers because they could pay them half the wage. You don't need to speak English to flip burgers and £3 per hour would still be good money to a lot of immigrants.
In the end, for a minimum wage job a British person should always have an advantage over a foreign person in that English is their first language. If they can't, or won't get a job despite this, skewing the employment marketplace is hardly going to help.0 -

What I mean is that the employer should pay the same regardless of whetehr the worker is British or foreign but the foreign worker should RECEIVE less.
eg - employer pays £5 to British worker and £5 to immigrant.
In my scheme the immigrant should only receive £3 with the balance going towards either the government or worthy causes.
To the employer it is the same but to the worker he knows he will receive less than his British counterpart - this shoukld deter more immgrants just waltzing in here to take big money,0 -
If immigrants had a lower minimum wage employers would be more likely to hire them due to immigrants costing them less money so their company benefits from hiring immigrants instead! Some places already lean more heavily on hiring immigrants as they are less likely to know their rights etc. which is why most temp workers are in fact immigrants. So many people believe that temps have no rights but this is just not true.
I agree that that immigrants should not be allowed to receive benefits as soon as they enter the country as that would certainly never happen if we went to their country.
I also believe that those that have lived in this country all their lives should have more of a right to the jobs available. We are not a charity for other countries and in this time we really do need to look after our nations own first. Harsh yes but it is the truth.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Too many negatives to this one I'm afraid, cause more problems than solutions in my eye. Completely agree with Obukit as there willingness to work for less to secure a job would more than likely lead to them allocating more vacancies than they do now...
I wouldnt describe a lot of them as 'waltzing' in either, a lot of them are very hard working and as I have argued on many occasions, the positions that they take up are often ones that UK born citizens would not touch with a barge pole. Its not a foreigners fault that they are willing to do work that nobody else wants to do yet they get blamed for 'taking our jobs'.'Nil Satis Nisi Optimum'0 -
It would be more MSE if we round them up in work camps.
We could have them working for no wage 14 hours’ shifts.
Have their foreheads tattooed with a serial number for easy recognition.
Entrepreneurs could hire them from the state (together with a small armed band of guards) and have them working in factories of farms.
If they are causing trouble or not working hard they could be tied to a post and lashed.
Any one of them falling ill will be taken to gas chambers disguised as shower rooms were they will be gassed (saves money on medical).
Their dead corpses could then be turned to fertilizer.

It seems rather unfair that any foreigner or immigrant can just waltz into this country and get a similar wage to someone who has lived and worked here all their life.
Foreigners who work in this country or immigrant workers should have to have a probationary period BEFORE they can earn full wages - I support the view that they should have their own wage and pay structure which is BELOW the standard minimum wage.
ie Froeigners minimum wage could be about £3 an hour. Also they should NOT be entitled to receive and benefits or NHS cover (emergency excepted) until their probabtionary period has elapsed.
This ideas would make perfect sense in the current recession as massive amounts of money would be saved and it would deter economic immigrants from coming here in the first place. BRITAIN IS FULL !!!
It woukd also incentivise British workers as they would be getting more money than their immigrant counterparts and consequently there would be less resentment and hatred towards the foreigners.
we need some politicians to have the bravery to make this happen as it would have the full support of the majority of people,
Although I understand and agree with the UK fukked up immigration policy and atually - the reality of the immigration I dont think the OP suggestions are the way forward.
I do think the all foreigners coming here should have funds to support themselves - JUST as I would have to have and prove if I was going to Australia...
Prove that they can support themselves and be able to pass the basic criteria that the natives to the UK have to in order to open a bank account etc... and so on.
Not too much to ask - we're not a charity country, Yet.

They're either allowed here, or they're not. If they're not allowed here, they can't work. If they're allowed here, then they should get the same pay for the same work as anyone else...Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0
